Last week Glen left for Canada on a business trip on Sunday morning at 6 a.m. I was not looking forward to taking care of all the kids at church for three hours. I am the primary teacher and I have all of the American Children in Jr. Primary. It ends up being 8 kids, ages 4-7, 4 of which are 4 and under. It's sort of a difficult group. 3 of those children are my own, which makes it even more difficult. My children always do best when I'm not around.
And so last Sunday I woke up and Maddi had a cough and a sore throat. And so I decided to skip the first hour, which is sacrament meeting, which is admittedly the most difficult hour with three little children. We showed up for Primary so that I could teach my lesson and be with my class. It was a little rough. Everyone was CRAZY! And I was not the brightest little sunbeam myself. And so we went home to try to start the rest of our week without Glen.
The week flew by pretty quickly, and then Glen got home Friday evening. It's been a great weekend. And today we got up and got to church, ON TIME even. We were walking in at the same time as President Vinas and his wife were walking in. President Vinas is a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and the President of the Caribbean area. Of course the second we walk by, Madelyn says in her not so quiet voice, "Are we skipping Sacrament Meeting today Mom?" Elder Vinas just looked at me and smiled as I informed Madelyn we'd be going to sacrament today and she gave a little bummed out answer and sadly climbed the steps to the sacrament meeting room. It was a funny moment. I am glad I have children that keep things real for me, and keep me humble. I need it.

I can write...........
Just no pictures until I buy more space. And so I went to blurb.com and I made a book and had it shipped to my in-laws house. I am certain they enjoy being my personal mail service. Hopefully someone from Glen's Salt Lake City office will be coming here in the next couple of weeks and will be willing to bring it down to me. That way I can delete old posts and start putting photos up again.
Other than that, life is good and we are keeping busy. I signed the girls up for swimming lessons which are twice a week. They are all doing really well. though Madelyn and Emily screamed through the first day. I guess that is to be expected. Since then they've done really well.
We've also started going to Girl scouts on Wednesdays. It is at The Carol Morgan School here in Santo Domingo. An excellent private school with a BEAUTIFUL campus. And so on Wednesdays I load the girls up and we head over to Carol Morgan and my two oldest daughters enjoy girl scouts. I was really quite surprised at how much I enjoyed it as well. They are with a group of girls who speak English, and are all here in the Dominican Republic either from Canada, the U.S, or other countries but speak fluent English. The girls are able to make friendships with other girls in their similar circumstances, and the ideals of the girl scout motto are VERY positive and uplifting. The girls are gaining some independence as well as confidence.
This weekend we are actually going CAMPING with the girl scouts. Now talk about getting out of your comfort zone. I am not a big fan of camping. It sounds like a whole lot of work, dirt, and then more work. So we will see how it goes, but the girls really want to go, and there is a camp site picked that looks like a lot of fun with a pool and fields to play soccer and things like that. So, I'll keep you posted on how things go!

I have an acquaintance from when Glen and I were first married. I wish I could call her a friend, but we really didn't know each other well, though we were in the same neighborhood and had a few of the same friends. This acquaintance happens to be one the most amazing people I have ever been privileged to know. If you're in the mood to cry and be inspired all at the same time, grab a box of tissues and visit this blog. She is an inspiration to me, and it certainly helps me put my life in perspective when I read her blog.

Out of space?
I guess I am long-winded. I am officially out of space, and way too lazy to get up and get my credit card in order to purchase more for $5. Maybe tomorrow.
