Wanta Fanta? Wanta Fanta!

We continue to live in a construction mess at our house, that is now accompanied by an ant problem. Nice. Thankfully, we have a contract with a Pest Control company to take care of the ants, if only we had a contract with a Maid Service to clean up the construction. Keith has been working hard to put the wood floors in. We purchased bamboo floors and bought 25 boxes worth of wood. We are now down to five boxes. It has been quite the process, especially since Keith decided to sprain his ankle last Friday. He limped and put in wood floors, what a trooper. I am posting a picture of our floors (we still have a lot of finish work to do) with our table on it. Yesterday was the first time we have been able to eat at the table in several weeks. It sure was nice.
Benson wanted to pose for pictures today. He has decided that he likes to get his hair spiked with gel. It is pretty cute. Today he sported the fo-hawk. And his hair has managed to get whiter since the sun has been shining. I didn't think it was possible.

And the reason for my post title being the Fanta theme song?! My kids love Fanta (Keith and I do too). Try mixing Orange Fanta and vanilla ice cream. It's an orange creamcicle my friends. Today we braved the heat and walked down to the park. It must have been too hot for Griffin, he just wanted to suck on the delicious nectar that is Orange Fanta the entire time.

He seriously didn't play at the park at all. He just sat by me and begged like a puppy for more soda. He drank almost the entire can. It was soooooooo cute (and a little obnoxious) because he was covered in it. Check out the orange beard.

And this may be my favorite picture to date of my darling baby. After a short trip to the park, I loaded them back up into the stroller and decided I needed one more cute "orange faced" Griffin picture. He leaned forward and gave me a big grin right as I took it. Man, I have got some cute kids.

Spring loaded

Something about spring makes me a feel like a "nesting mother." I feel the urge to get "things ready." What for? I am not exactly sure. But in the past month, we have completely redone our kitchen, refaced cabinets for the laundry room, re-organized, painted, and re-done our little boys room so that they now share, and bought the wood floor that we plan to install through most of our upstairs (I'm not sure if I'll survive that project). I've even helped, in fact I did the entire "boys room project" and laundry room cabinets too. I must admit, I am getting tired.

Yet among all the work we have been doing, we have managed to squeeze in some Spring fun. In fact we've either been out of town or had company for the past month. Last weekend, we went to Keith's parents house for their annual Easter egg hunt and parade.

Here is a snapshot of our family at the parade (we also all did the mile walk that morning which was pretty fun). Sorry, we couldn't get Griffin to look away from the parade for the picture.

Here is our sweet Benson being a little ham before the parade started.

Here's Keith carting Griff around in his parents Amish scooters. Aren't they cool? I totally want one.

And here is Benson hunting for eggs. Keith's mother does three Easter egg hunts; one for the babies (both of my children fall into that category), one for the kids, and even one for the adults. It is sooooooooooooo fun and one of my favorite activities of the year. She does it like a scavenger hunt. It's awesome and they even give out money, lots of money!

Here is Keith and I with our bags of loot!

And she gives the little kids mostly toys (which I love).

Griffin with his egg. And perhaps it seems a bit late to be having an Easter egg hunt, but we like to do it when it is actually warm outside. Plus Keith's mom plans it around their town parade, so there are plenty of activities for us to do all day.

But, back to work. Besides playing, we have worked, worked, worked. Here are my new kitchen cabinets. I heart them. We still haven't painted the wall yet. I can't quite decide on a color.

Ever since I bought this white crib, I wanted a blue wall behind it. Well, three years later I got my wish. Here is the cornflower blue wall.

Well, apparently all of this Spring fun has exhausted my kids because they have fallen asleep all over the place lately. Here is Benson snoozing in the wagon while we walked around some booths after the Easter egg hunt.

The hat served as sunscreen.

Benson came upstairs yesterday and asked me where Griffin was. I was a little worried, because I had sent them both downstairs together. Benson said "Gwiffin sweeping." (translated: Griffin sleeping) I tried to explain to him that Griffin was supposed to be playing downstairs with him. Benson insisted that he was asleep and made me follow him downstairs. Here is what I found.

He fell asleep watching a ten minute cartoon. Soooooo sweet. This kid really is just like his dad. As soon as he sits still, he falls asleep.

And Benson passed out in Grandma's car, doesn't he look comfortable?

Whew, I am tired. I think I may go take a nap.

Girls just want to have fun . . . Griffin does too.

I have returned from my trip "home." What a glorious time it was. The highlight of the trip was most definitely our "girls night out" where my three sisters, Sophie (my niece), my mother, Griffin and I went up to my parents cabin and played until we couldn't play anymore. Griffin was a trooper being the only boy there. Thanks to my dad who watched the other grand kids. I think the picture below sums up the trip - silly. My sister Marianne is a massage therapist. Here is the rest of us giving her a group massage after she massaged all of us. Let's just say we are experts at the karate chop. Funny.
But to start at the beginning. Marianne was already in Utah, so she got to drive up with me and the kiddos. We sure had fun. This is how Benson spent most of the trip.

And this is how Griffin did.

Mari being silly. Aren't her eyes amazing?

Both of us being silly.

So, at three in the morning at the cabin, Wendy got a brilliant idea. She decided we should try sliding down the stairs in sleeping bags. It may have been the funniest thing I have ever done in my life (I am sure the fact that it was the middle of the night helped). This is how I landed when I went down on my stomach. It felt really good.

And my arms got out of the sleeping bag and I have giant carpet burns clear down them. I am so mature.

We laughed and laughed and laughed.

Sweet action shot.

Mari got tired, she had to take a little nap.

Meesh was the only brave one who tried this.

We also worked on getting more beautiful with doing some facial treatments. Don't we look pretty?

Meesh and Wendy had "firming masks" and couldn't move their faces. This is a picture of Mari and Meesh- being sexy.

My mom is hot stuff.

Scary. See, Wendy couldn't move her face.

And we enjoyed some strawberry shortcake. Yum.

We sure had a ball. I love my family and I love love love that I have lots of sisters. Some other highlights of the trip were going with my brother to pick out his prom tuxedo, playing Wii with Wendy until 1:00 am, going to the "girls night" movie, and laughing so hard I may have peed my pants. Seriously, family is where it is at.
And what about these precious cousins?! They sure have lots of fun together.
