Stinky

Addie came home from school and insisted she need to change her clothes because she was stinky, I didn't disagree, but asked her how she got so stinky. Here is her logic, "Well school kids stink you know, and then it seeps into the walls of the school and then it seeps into me and my clothes." Lol, love her. Poor teachers in Arizona with children coming in from recess after playing in 100 degree heat. That was one thing I did not like about teaching elementary school...sometimes it was unbearably stinky.

Auntie

Today was the first day Grace was actually excited for Addie to leave to school. As Addie pulled away Grace ran up the stairs as fast as her two cute short legs would allow and retrieved something special from Addie's hiding place.

See these two girls of mine have been fighting over this silly doll since Addie brought her home yesterday from school. She got it from the "Prize Box" at school for being well behaved, but it certainly brought out her worst side here at home. She wouldn't hardly let Grace hold her new doll all day and night. So I was perfectly happy to let Grace have it all day today while Addie was at school. And look at how happy it made this sweet little thing?

She calls herself Auntie, well because of course Addie is the mommy. Grace said to the doll, "Auntie will babysit you all day long and take good care of you."

Too cute. When she tried to feed her breakfast and got raisin bran and milk all over her face, Grace said "Momma, Addie sister is going to be so angy wit me for getting her dirty." Grace was waiting at the bus stop to pick up Addie, doll cradled in her arms, ready to hand over her charge for the day. Seriously she was the happiest little 2 year old today. I can't decide if this doll really is that cool, or if it is just the fact that she knows she isn't supposed to have it that make it so thrilling.

I love this last pic of Grace because it showcases her crooked smile...which she got from me.

My little goose

Grace has a big personality. She is so funny, and I just need to document some things so I never forget how she makes me laugh.
This picture is from the morning that she woke up determined she was Ariel and insisted I put on her princess dress right away and then proceeded to walk around the whole house calling, "Prince Eric, Prince Eric, where are you?"

Grace likes to know who is to blame or who is responsible for things. Sometimes that is annoying, but sometimes it is funny. Whenever her favorite juice, cereal, snack is all gone she will say, "who ate it all?" Usually she will just blame it on her Daddy though. Daddy ate it, Daddy did it, etc. He is an easy scapegoat, because he gone a lot of the time and can't defend himself. Today as we were driving to pick up Addie from school she noticed a bike someone had on top of their SUV. Here is how our conversation went:
G: There is a bike on top of that car, Momma.
M: Yes, there is.
G: Someone else did it.
M: (laughing) Oh, really?
G: Daddy did it.

It's Official, she is a Kindergartener

Really I can't believe that Addie is old enough to be in Kindergarten. Here they have all day Kindergarten as well, which is just so long for little 5 year olds. Grace and I dropped her off this morning and it was definitely bittersweet. She was so excited, but needed a few extra hugs when she realized we really were just leaving her there all day.

Grace had the hardest time of us all, she cried as I took her home and when I tried to cheer her by telling her it was park day with our friends, she just stuck out her pouty lip and said, "I don't want to go to the park without my Addie sister". Poor girl, she kept asking where Addie was and then answering her own question.

I was just so excited for Addie. I did get a little teary eyed as we left her at school, because I realized she will now be in school until she is grown up. But she was so excited it was hard to be sad. We picked her up from the bus this afternoon and she looked a little dazed, but I think it was just a super long day for her. She sat right down at the table and told Grace, "I have homework to do, I will play with you in a bit." I just laughed because she was so serious about it, and she didn't really have homework, but wanted to get ahead by learning all her sight words. Overall it seems like it was a successful day.
