old one, it is!...

hi all...

it's been a while since my last post. yaaa... kind of busy lately. in fact i always mentioned no matter here or on my twitter or fb; i have lotsa things to blog about, yet i have so little time to do them all duh!

alright so mom has always been talking about a nephew's (her grand-nephew) wedding lately that would be held in mid-december. i would say that it will be a lavish wedding reception in a 5-stars hotel in the heart of kuala lumpur.

finally i told mom this morning that i will just wear an old baju that i bought from a grand-aunt. grand-aunt went to bukittinggi, in indonesia many years ago. i asked her to buy me like 7 (yes, 7!) embroidery tops with different colours and designs of course. bukittinggi is famous with those kind of handicraft (view them here).

the clothes that i have are just fine. if i had a billion dollars, i would probably save most of it. i am not going to buy new things until i need them, not simply because i have the money. when i am a billionaire who will care about my appearance and look down at me? i am not very care about the clothes and just clean and comfortable would be good to me. not the expensive the better. and i have a manner that my clothes are picked by myself and i do not even want to throw them away when it broken. so i would like to wear old clothes even when i am a billionaire already.

so when ayu asked about what fredom is in her tweet just now, this is it! i will do what's best for me, and no one could say anything about it.

my cousin pointed out that the theme colour for her son's wedding reception is dusky pink. well if i ever get myself a new baju, its not that i could wear it often anyway. unless its a casual wear like denim pants, skirts, etc. i would still wear them mix-and-match with other clothes that i already have in my wardrobe.

you know what my mom said when i told her about my intention? it seems that the baju is no more "in"! walaweiii... so what? i don't care what people gonna say. unless if my cousin willing to buy one for me that's good enough. i always believe, as long as i wear it nicely, it would still look nice and good no matter what. i would definitely look different what's more when i will do something to my hair like this. in fact the baju that i wore to that event is an old one as well: a white top that i bought from uluwatu boutique at the curve some time ago [take note that its not cheap, occay?], with white pants.

and take a look at this. i attended a 'perfect 10' line dance party in penang in october. that's what i came out finally to a theme of masquerade party:

• a black cotton flare skirt that my tailor sew at a cost of RM48. i was thinking that i could still wear this kind of skirt to other occasions in the future.


• a black top and high-heel shoes that i own from long time ago.


• luckily i got the eye mask from a local shop, that cost me RM3.20 only! i saw exaactly the same at toys 'r us, in gurney plaza and the cost was much more expensive.

and talking about getting a new clothes, i am just on the look-out for a red colour pants. i am following my kl line dancing friends to a line dance event in jb, in 9 days. so that seems the only item that i don't have so far.

project 365: 4th week—

day 22 — this was the first pic for this project, taken out of kualè. we were walking out of kwong fatt, in ipoh, a famous fabrics shop among ipoh people and the surrounded areas; when we saw an old shop in front of it. it looked interesting that we decided to go and drop-by there. it sells ready-made clothes a-la sunday market. whats more interesting when we saw an antique cash register machine. according to the shop lady, they owned the machine for about 50 years or more.

day 23 — all of us went to cousin cicik’s akad nikah (solemnisation), held after maghrib prayers. i make sure that we attended it especially megat as cicik helped me to take care of him when he was a baby. she’s very good at it, even her mom was unsure of where and how she inherit those expertise. anyhow she is now working at a local spa centre here in kualè.

day 24 — the next afternoon was cicik’s kenduri— check-out the antique plates. ning baizura was so proud that she used them during her wedding, remember? blerk!… my parent’s wedding used them also. bah told me that it only cost at RM0.20 each those days *glurp* but the best thing at cicik's wedding was, we were served with spread of food and wedding favour from medan... marvelous! for those who wonders, she is ijoe's youngest sista!

day 25 — which one you wanna go? there were so many weddings last weekend; correct me if i am wrong. you can see quite a number of wedding signs placed at junctions everywhere.

day 26 — i just had chicken chop for lunch at yut loy with puteri and bah. so this pic has been snapped while i was waiting for my food. the baby pic you saw in the pic is ah meng’s grand daughter, a latest generation of yut loy hehee…

day 27 — we arrived kl at around 3 pm to spend the rest of the school holidays that will be ended this sunday. my lil’ sis treated us for a dinner at TGIF in sunway pyramid. that’s my favourite strawberry milkshake. i only like the one from TGIF as it’s the best of all!… the thickness, the taste, in fact everything are perfecto! so what’s your favourite from TGIF.

day 28 — it was a ‘jalan-jalan’ day at KLCC. well actually cousin abang ayi had a whole day conference there. he had to bring his son daniel and asked megat to tag along. i brought them around the mall while waiting for the time they were supposed to go to petrosains. and what a lucky day for us when we met my uncle ayah jed and his grandson anaqi in kinokuniya. so we had our lunch at 1901 together, courtesy of ayah jed weee... thank you so much for the lunch treat ayah jed! puteri was there too but she hang-out with her friends :~)

the day julie got married!...

i accompanied cousin sarah to her friend from primary school, julie's akad nikah (solemnisation). we just got into the car when suddenly sarah remembered that she forgot to bring her camera. then when i was about to tell her that i always have my camera with me... she already said, "i know... chor never leaves home without her camera no matter what!" hah! and yes thanks to me, we managed to capture some pics for her —

well in fact we went to study at the same school actually. we knew julie's twin sisters as well, who are my senior of one year. besides that their mother was also a teacher in our school... kewl huh?!!...

to julie, i just would like to say this— "some love lasts a lifetime. true love lasts forever."

the red wedding at tupai tupai

as you could see from the above pic, we were in kl again during the weekend. this time was for a wedding also--cousin niki's wedding reception for the groom's side at tupai tupai restaurant. i specially chose those to be published here because like i mentioned before, "i like/try to take photos naturally, as i believe people are at their best when they are not aware they are being photographed". take note that all the pics has been taken by me except for bottom right by my cousin muzmania. nice one dude! i likeee... go and view more pics here.

actually i feel so great to be there. that was only the time we had the chance to meet with relatives whom we seldom meet. the usual tradition nowadays, relatives would only meet during weddings or deaths. reached home almost midnite, too tired to do anything but get into bed.

tupai is the malay word for squirrel. the double usage of some malay words meant many, so tupai-tupai means more than one squirrel ;)

tupai-tupai actually means a tool/connector that connects the pillars and rooftop frame for traditional malay houses :D they don't have screws back in hang tuah's days.

the place is amazing. basically look like a rustic kampung with the attap roof. took a seat and soak in the ambience. the floors are completely built on silts and its entirely made out of wooden planks. can hear creaking sounds each time people walked pass by. true to their tagline "suasana di rimba kuala lumpur" (forest in kuala lumpur), the place looked as if its situated in the middle of a forest. it's amazing to find this place hidden right in the middle of the city.

they've got a few elevated wakaf (pavilion?) and it has low table. one need to sit bersila (cross legged in malay) style. cushions are provided.

all-in-all the ambience is great, but unfortunately, the food is only so-so... and don't even talk about the service :p

the restaurant is located behind dewan bahasa dan pustaka (DBP) and opposite MAA building. you can dine as long as you want as the parking there is free! tqsm sis (you know who you are) for the direction... anyhow i missed a turn ler... then have to turn back one wayyyyy round blerk!

what we did last weekend

on that saturday

as soon as we arrived from kuale around 10.30am, my lil's sis brought us (puteri, megat and i) straight to cyberjaya for nickelodeon let's just play event. well at first when kids especially megat was informing me about that event many weeks ago (you know, kids... they knew it from the tv ads and so on), we didn't realize that the date was coincide with our cousin niki's solemnisation ceremony. so nearer to the date, we thought maybe we will bring the kids elsewhere. and let the older generations go to the kenduri instead--we always thought akad nikah (solemnisation ceremony) is for orang tua-tua (older people) hehee...

besides that lil's sis is the media planner for astro, so for sure she has to be there no matter what.

words can't describe of how great the event was. by viewing the slides, i am sure you could see that everyone had fun--its always true when we say pics are worth a thousand words. lil's sis warned megat of not to get himself wet duh!... as we gonna go to klpac after that for KLue urbanscapes.

fyi people i am doing two things at one time at the moment i.e. blog hopping while posting this ;) so i found that eyna brought her kids to the same event :) why ler kan... we always go to the same place (last time was penang if i am not mistaken, where you were in gurney while i was at queensbay on the very same day, remember?) but without knowing it that actually both of us were there at the same place or the surrounding area lol...

like i said earlier, we headed to klpac from cyberjaya. the event was awesome! urbanscapes was organised by KLue and it was the first and only all-day “user-generated” creative arts festival. urbanscapes aims to bring together communities and participants from the fields of music, arts, lifestyle, film under a single banner to showcase the best of the local scene. previous urbanscapes events took place in 2002 (grappa soho) and 2004 (kl sentral).

so as you could see, KLickr group was there. they showed off the 24 kl long-photos slides to public. so basically we were there not just to join urbanscapes but also to support my sis ;) view more of the event' pics here.

guess what people... we met natalie of hitz.fm! she's such a nice gal, very the kepochi hehee... thats why she's there at hitz ya... lol... although we first met her at queensbay mall last december, she was so surprised seeing us there at urbanscapes last saturday and talked like there's no tomorrow, as though we have known each other for so long :)


on that sunday

no own agenda; as we were to attend newly-married-cousin niki & wife yati's wedding reception in gombak. take note that we the young ones (ehemm...) didn't go for their akad nikah on saturday ;)


the above pic (taken by cousin muzmania whose also niki's bro) showed us with cousins nivin and liyana. i know some people in the blogosphere/cyberworld who adore muzmania... now you all know that he's my cousin :P hmm... btw its too late already ler, his wife's pregnancy will be due maybe july/august. i only have their pic taken here, or you can view more here.

the indon clans story

my grandmother's late elder sister married a guy (decease) from medan. that's how roughly we attached to the indonesian heritage a bit ;) unfortunately i have never been there yet. even kechik is likely knew more about it than me! lol... cuz she traveled there often. read more about her java travels here. i know i know... the places there are damn beautiful. ya i am sure i will stepped there someday.

so i was asked for trips there by our medan relatives earlier--"ha... kuE enggak pernah lagi jejak kaki ke medan. bila nya mau ke sana?" hehe... we met at my cousin ijoe's wedding reception at bukit chandan [that's where the masjid (mosque) ubudiah and istana (palace) iskandariah are located]. the akad nikah (solemnisation ceremony) was held last weekend at the bride's family place in gombak. i didn't go cuz i was so busy with my own agenda hehe... only mother, grandmother and some aunties went there. gosh!... i didn't even have the time to blog about my previous trip to kl, also with the school holidays :)

alright, back to ijoe's wedding reception, its just a simple one where only closed family and relatives were there; the spread of their indonesian food were so scrumptious i tell you, all done from a gotong-royong by the indonesian clan--i like! o yes... do check out my plate, as it may looks familiar? if you don't get me, go here. that means it was indeed a truly kampung (village) style wedding.

calling malacca...

wow... finally i can sit down here and load the weekend pics and all...

it was really a hectic weekend for me. i reached kl in the afternoon on saturday. i headed straight to V's office. we had so many stuff/thingy to catch up... told ya people that V and i haven't meet for almost a year! after a few hours we went off our own separate ways with our own agenda of the day.

while yesterday i went for a day trip to malacca (jasin to be exact) for our new AM's wedding reception. nizam and aznan fetched me at KD with aznan's d-max. it was really comfortable indeed even though i sat at the back. although i have to force myself to put my leg up (take note that i am only about 5'2" tall) for me to enter the truck, but i like... especially when i feel like i am on top of the world. as usual, the guys teased me like no one business blerk!

we were glad indeed that we got a very good sits ever at a "kampung" wedding. the bride's entourage was not there yet when we came. so the groom forced himself to be at the main entrance to greet his work friends while waiting, as none of the local people there knows any of us, who eventually came all the way from klcc, ipoh, kuale (moi), prai, also not forgetting all those friends that really could understand each others feelings... came from far [hehe... what ler i typed earlier, maybe i was sleepy that time lol...].

i assume that its really gonna be the talk-of-the-jasin-town especially when everywhere people ought to talk about ning and omar's kampung theme wedding --i read somewhere that the hall has been transformed to a cute village named kampung nekmat (go here to read about it in ning's manager' blog). what a co-incidence also when this couple (our AM)'s wedding done in a true kampung environment. i guess this one was more lively, cuz its done outdoor. everyone in the neighbourhood helped with the kenduri (malaysian for 'ceremony' or 'celebration'). i even saw a few kawah with lots of lauks. darn!... i should have taken some pics of that too ;) grr...

the day lela got married

lela is a workmate from another trading area. thats why i dunno whose her other half at all. unlike faizal, azah's husband. but then... well, since i got an invitation and am a kinda free, i thought that i just have to go, accompanied by megat, my hero ;)

guess what people. i was in pink, just like the wedding's colour theme hehe...

o yea... unfortunately ween called when i was getting ready to go to ipoh this morning. if only i knew that you are coming to this territory much earlier, i would have rearrange my schedule i.e. go to lela's wedding early, to spent time with you after that. who knows, if you could just come over for us to do some baking together-gather :D well, its alright lar... i guess its no rezeki for us to meet yet, maybe some other time... insya allah.

the day azah got married...

yes! azah married at last... congratulations dear. the solemnisation ceremony (akad nikah) was held at her family's place yesterday. but unfortunately i cannot attend it as i was at my cousin ina's wedding reception, at cempaka sari hall, silveritage galeria, the same place too for azah's wedding reception this afternoon.

guess what people. azah's wedding dais was more or less the same as zaf & jaja's. the story was like this - we met in a task force meeting at shaidi's place a few weeks ago. azah asked me about zaf's wedding. i knew it that she gonna ask that cuz she was nervous giler to prepare for her wedding stuff that time. who wont right. i asked her back whether she wanna look at the pics. so i took out my darling oly, switched it on and passed it to her. she scrolled the pics and admired them all interestingly, when suddenly she came across zaf's wedding pics in ipoh. she was like, "wow... i love this one". and here it is--

the day we celebrate in ipoh

it was pink & white in kl, while here in ipoh was grey. the kenduri this time was lovely. family, relatives and friends from all walks of life came from far and near, not forgetting the groom's relatives from grik who came by a few buses.

the best thing was that daniel's family all was so happy to meet our family too especially bah (grandmother) and my parents. why you asked? well... eventually their earlier generations till now were our neighbour! since they knew our family very well, i could see how kind they were to bah and my mom and dad... till they packed us three sets of the lauk-pauk. ada ka? lol... at first we were kinda shy. but on a second thought, since they have generously given the food to us, tak pe lar kan... hehe...

the bride entourage (including us) arrived at the hall around 1.15 pm. after i finished eating around 2.45 pm, i looked around, just to see in case i knew anyone there. i was so surprise when i saw hairy sitting at a table behind me. of course he was stunned too lol... so we chat like no one business. he also introduced me to his wife, "ini kuE (but of course he mentioned my real life nickname), jai punya". hmm... both of my big and round eyes turned more bigger. he smiled at me. the wife too. fyi people, hairy is rizal's elder brother ;) and what really a small world we could say - hairy's wife is daniel's (the groom) cousin! then... i thought that hairy will definitely tell rizal about it. my guess was right... that i received a sms from rizal on my way back home, asking about the meet with hairy :)

of bali and pink & white

last weekend was the most hectic one i guess. we went to kl for one night only. while both weddings that we attended were at night *phew* unless if the one on sunday was during the day or maybe we stayed there for few nights then everything should be okay. to add-up to that, it was not on school holidays some more :(

zaf & jaja's wedding reception at dewan perdana felda

this was dubbed the wedding full of glamour where its attended by most local celebrities like ruffedge, adnan abu hassan, ezlynn, and many more. some also that i maybe knew they were celebrities but i dun really bother of their names and what they do lol... so we just... smiled ;) so end up basically there's no pics of any of them. i was not that haddup ler... to approach them and ask for pics UNLESS if its AZ lol... i knew he's somewhere but dun wanna ler... i was a bit shy some more that night hehe... about VE plak, only lah and wife were there.

o yes... it was bali theme this time with pak abu as the wedding planner also, who did for my brother's wedding too. as you could see, pak abu is well known with his works using fresh flowers... so the hall was smelled with bunga melur (jasminum sambac), nice.

azrina & daniel's wedding reception at dewan perdana felda

ina is my cousin, whose married with a perak guy also. her wedding was full of pink and white. nothing much to say here... like the saying pics say a thousand words-

it was zaf & jaja's wedding!

the akad nikah (solemnisation) ceremony was held this morning at the bride's family place in ipoh, with one lafaz. sorry people... no pics for that... but here's some pics of the tonight's reception at cempaka sari hall, silveritage galeria. enjoy!

i wish you two all the best Zaf (my SIL's brother) & Jaja on a wonderful wedding! the road of love is long and tough, but to stick it out: there is nothing in this world more rewarding! God bless you both!

the wedding in kuale on 23/12/06

caution: this post would be rather long with detailed descriptions ;)

like i mentioned in my previous post, the wedding reception (majlis kenduri menyambut menantu) here in kuale for my lil' brother and his bride went smoothly, with great weather.

before i went out to town in the morning, i told everyone to meet for our last committee meeting at home around 2 or 3pm. unfortunately the president was still in town doing her (me lor... tehee...) hair. everyone was busy preparing for some last minute thing while i was still at the saloon. well at least i called home to inform them okay. so we met at 3.30pm instead. my lil' brother, the groom who do not have to do anything also joined us lol... after the meeting finished before 5pm, i filled my stomach first. ya lor... we were the host, so we have to eat before anyone else right? so mind the first pic will you ;)

after that i straight away went upstairs to get ready early as promised. i was ready maybe around 6pm. even my best friend kay also came in on time. when kay was here already, we took some pics around the house first including the bunga telur (gifts) and dining table. fyi almost every single thing i.e. wedding dais (pelamin), bunga telur (gifts), wedding favour, wedding cupcakes (instead of the normal wedding cakes), the bridal room etc.; were done together by all the family members. btw kay and i just thought that if we didn't take the pics earlier, sure kecoh later. we even asked puteri to snap our pics together on the wedding dais. when we still have time, i let kay to eat first too. she has to help us, that's why she can't join other guest at the dining table tehee... naughty me lol... :P

guest came as early as 7pm. maybe they afraid for not getting an easy parking. anyhow luckily we have some RELA people with the assitance of PDRM's police traffic men to help us with the traffic flow. i stood right at the main road to our house to greet our guest. around 8pm, my lil' brother called me (yes, i was still holding my cell-fon i tell you; as i know everyone would be calling me to report whatvever things happened around us. gosh... we should have use the walkie-talkie kan? lol...) that they will be coming. the bride and groom came in zaf's car followed by the bride's entourage about seven cars i think. unfortunately when they arrived, we can't start the merenjis (blessing) ceremony as the VVIPs haven't here yet. he (one of the VVIPs) sms dad that the traffic from ipoh was very bad. ya lor... most of ipoh people came that night lol...

so we started the merenjis as soon as the VVIPs arrived. great... they came together in one car. when i was busy mingling with other guest out-door when suddenly my cousin abang ayi called me said that my mother was looking for me. wa lau ley... i thought what ler... i was asked to do the merenjis too together with my two sisters and zaf. it seems zaf was happily smiling all the way when he did his part tehee...

as usual, the bride and groom were ushered to the main dining table after the merenjis, followed by the VVIPs and the bride's entourage. while everyone were eating, i walked around everywhere to mingle with more guest. i saw many group of family, relatives and friends were there i.e. the groom's koleq friends, my dad's koleq's and clifford's friends, my friends etc. there were also quite a number of locals like one of the twins of yut loy's with his wife, bankers, our tailors, people from the local market etc. we were entertained by my dad's friend from the clifford primary school, uncle sabri. he sang while played with his electric guitar.

after some time, uncle sabri announced that it was time for the 'wedding cupcakes eating ceremony'. oik... my cousin (dr.) sarah whose the bridesmaid together with her husband, the best man (a budak koleq too, same batch with the groom) went MIA. i guess maybe the best man was with his koleq's friends. luckily i was near them (the bride and groom), so i was the one who ushered them to the wedding cupcakes table. wah... they became stiffed, dunno what to do. ya lor... they deserved the best treatment for that day, because local call it “raja sehari”. meaning, they were the “king and queen for the day”, one day only! so i asked them to take one each of the cake and feed each other.

to everyone surprised, there after uncle sabri asked the bride and groom to joget (a type of a traditional dance). i was like err... then i looked up. my sister was there with uncle sabri at the verandah. she asked me to proceed. gosh... so i brought the bride and groom infront of the main table. my lil' brother was like whispering to me, "chor, no need lar... no need lor...". "what to do. since uncle sabri already announced it, alar just hantam saje lar", i told them. shafinaz was tremendously shy of course. i told them this before i slowly left them together, "okay shafinaz, you start". luckily she was a traditional dancer during her school days. so she started it and followed by the groom. everyone was clapping all the way too. everyone who brought cameras took the chance to take pics including me!

after the joget, although i knew they were tired; i made them meet and greet all the guest. ye lor... bila lagi nak buli pengantin kan lol... before the bride's entourage left, we took family pics together for memories. it was definitely a night to remember.

today in history ~ 17 december 2006

caution: this post is gonna be rather long with lotsa pics and such. you know... i was supposed to post this on 17th, but i was damn busy to get near the pc. so here goes...

i have just reached home from penang by 10pm. i had to attend a full-day seminar in prai ler... well actually, i wanted to stay in kl for at least five to six days from the day i arrived there on friday. unfortunately i saw a fax from the company on last tuesday, asking us the whole northern region to meet in pearl view hotel for a seminar :(

the best thing was when one of the pakciks came to me and asked of why i was there. it seems my dad should come instead of me. you know what people? he thought that i was the bride lol... everyone were laughing like hell. he didn't realize that it was a male' name in the invitation card ;)

so i had breakfast with V yesterday morning at kopitiam near his office in plaza damas. the main reason was of course as usual to catch-up on things, besides to hand him my bro's invitation card for this saturday. guess what people, it was my first time there. ya lor... long time never come to kl what lol... i had nasi lemak while he had 1/2 boiled eggs with buttered toast. sorry no food pics this time hehe... not infront of V lol...

alright, let me just go straight to what i wanna post this time. there were quite a number of good and memorable events happened on this day of 17 december 2006.

1 ~ it was my lil' bro's wedding reception dinner for the bride's side at the legend hotel. like the akad nikah on saturday, the wedding planner for this event was pak abu too, who is well-known for his usage of fresh flowers. so we guess of no wonder that he (pak abu) didn't charge shafinaz anything for the hantaran (gift) during the akad nikah. that night, it was full of roses in the banquet hall. in fact i could smell roses everywhere! it was nicely done. kudos pak abu!

2 ~ that day also was puteri's 12th birthday. i brought both puteri and megat to berjaya times square (that was my first time there i tell you). our intention was to just went there for jalan-jalan on puteri's birthday. we headed to starbucks for breakfast. since the mall has my favourite store MJ, i bought their school uniforms there. from there, we went straight to jusco 1U to buy a present for mom. we can't find what we wanted in MJ, that's why. we bought aramis life for her i.e. stefanie graf. we bought the same i.e. andre agassi' for dad on his 60th birthday last august. that's why. after that, we had our lunch at tgif. puteri even got a complimentary piece of chocolate cake, while some of the staff sang a birthday song for her.

besides that, puteri was absolutely surprised when VE sang a birthday song for her too. she was smiling all the way lol...

3 ~ the same date also marked my sister's 34th birthday. she celebrated it with her friends during the day.

at last, my lil' brother C married to shafinaz this morning at dewan perdana felda. i would say that the akad nikah was simple yet memorable, nicely done and well organized. as usual, our hantaran (gifts) especially the personal items i.e. toiletries, telekung (prayer veils) and sejadah (prayer mat), al-quran, watch etc. were all wrapped in boxes. kinda dissappointed? nah... btw that's how kl people felt. what to do... fyi that's our real perakian style. ours were all done by my two sisters. while for the bride's side, the hantarans ere all done by pak abu, without charge, specially for shafinaz from pak abu himself. we thought, if pak abu saw ours, probably he would wonder of what were we trying to show lol...

as you could see from the third pic (top right), we were surprised with the new-style of the akad nikah ceremony. everyone were seated. in fact its all been arranged accordingly when we arrived. my brother was seating facing shafinaz's dad who did the akad himself. we were more surprised when the bride were asked to talk first before anyone else. okay lor... whatever!

the wedding reception will be held tomorrow night at one of the leading hotels in kuala lumpur. watch out for more pics here in my blog ;)

oh yes, today is mom's 58th birthday too! so on this day, mom got another daughter. i haven't buy her present yet but i already know what i have in mind though :)
