Weekend Update

What a weekend!
Friday I went to a funeral for a family friend. He was only 25. It really makes you realize how precious life is. It really opens your eyes to your priorities.
Saturday I went to Big Surf with Amanda and some friends. It was a lot of fun.
The downside, we all got quite burnt. We even used SPF 50. and I have been tanning so I thought for sure I would not burn to much. I was wrong.
But that's alright it will turn out to be a nice tan.
Later that night Amanda and I went to a party at an airport hangar.
That was interesting.
After we finally found the place and after being followed by a police officer for a couple miles.
{He was trying to find some way to pull me over. Darn cops!}
Sunday ended with watching the boys in a towel fight as mom and I made biscuits.
I had a nice weekend.
Today is Monday and I have the day off work. I am never sure what to do with myself.
But I can say it was so nice to sleep in.

Movie Quote Friday

How to Deal

Macon: When I ask you to go out with me this Friday night you're gonna think you're the one asking me because you're gonna say 'yes Macon, I would love to go out with you because I know we'll have a totally great time together. In fact, I'd been hoping you'd ask me all week.'
Halley: You wanna go out on a date with me?
Macon: See, I told you you'd ask me.
Macon: If you are ready to jump, I will be here to catch you.
___________________________________________________
Halley: Some people fall in love. I had to crash into it.
___________________________________________________
Macon: You're going to move closer to me so I can wrap my arms around your waist. And on the count of 3... 2... 1
[kisses]
Macon: You're a good kisser.
Halley: You tricked me. You Jedi Mind Tricked me.
Grandma Halley: First loves are never really over. Nobody's perfect, Sweetheart. But that doesn't mean it wasn't worth your while.
___________________________________________________________

Halley: The quickest way to ruin a relationship with someone is to actually try to have a relationship with them. Lorna Queen: Well... look at you Halley.
Halley: That's hard to do without a mirror isn't it?
Lorna Queen: Honey you keep getting prettier every day.
Halley: I have no idea how you could say that because you definitely don't see me every day. And yesterday, oh my God I was so ugly. And last Wednesday, that sucked too, so it's kind of a day to day thing.
____________________________________________________________
Halley: You have to learn to walk. You have to learn to talk. You have to wear that totally ridiculous hat your grandma bought you. You have no say in the matter. And when you get a little older, even though you get to choose your hats, you don't get to choose what they put in those meatballs in the cafeteria, or when to fall in love. Sometimes things happens and you just have to deal. Macon: So do you hate me?
Halley: Not you, per se. I hate the way that your hair falls in your face. And I hate the way that your voice gets really low when you're serious.
[Macon bites lower lip]
Halley: And I hate the way that you bite your bottom lip when you're nervous. And the way your eyebrow goes
[whistles and motions with hand]
Halley: like that. I hate that.
Macon: So that's it? You just hate the way I walk and talk and look.
Halley: No. That Jedi mind trick thing? I hate that.

Weekend Update!

The majority of my weekend involved working on Sam's baby shower. I finished up everything Friday night and was ready to go on Saturday. I loved putting this shower together. It was a lot of fun. I thought it turned out very well. I posted the decorations and stuff I made over at Oh Snaps. Thanks for letting me put it together. I really enjoyed doing it. And thank you girls for being there for me. I really appreciate it!
Mom-thanks for all the help, she was a lifesaver in helping me get everything ready and done!

That really was pretty much my weekend.

Movie Quote Friday

Step Up
Mac Carter: [after Tyler gets in a fight at a party] You feel like because you're a white boy you gotta overcompensate or something?
Tyler Gage: Wow, like wow, you got me figured out, Montel
Mac Carter: Yeah, well you're the one going Jerry Springer all the time
Skinny Carter: Hey, if you're Montel and you're Jerry, then I'm like...
Mac Carter: Jenny Jones
Tyler Gage: No, like Ellen
Mac Carter: Except Ellen gets more chicks than he does!
Director Gordon: See, that's my concern... he's not taking this seriously.
Tyler Gage: Well, I'm sorry... it's just that you guys talk about dancing like it's rocket science or something. Miles Darby: If you wanna be with someone who doesn't appreciate what a good thing he's got that's 100% your business. I just thought you'd be smart enough to know you deserve better. Tyler Gage: What? I'm not late
Nora: You're not dress either... You can change at the back
Tyler Gage: I can change here...
[taking of his jacket]
Nora: I told you to bring tights
Tyler Gage: Do I look like I own tights?
Nora: Shoes?
Tyler Gage: I move better with them
Nora: So are you gunna ask me to dance?
Tyler Gage: I didn't know you could dance without your tights!
Nora: Okay, um, I get it. You're not gonna use me to get out of cleaning the windows, even if you were capable of dancing.
Tyler Gage: I'm not trying to get out of anything. And I know you saw me the other day.
Nora: Thank you, but, umm, I can find someone else.
Tyler Gage: [Goes to leave] Aight. I was just trying to help.
Nora: Okay, wait.
[He stops and turns around]
Nora: Catch me.
Tyler Gage: [She runs towards him and he catches her, then he lets her fall in his arms] Now what?
Nora: Um... put me down.
[He puts her down]

I absolutely love this movie.
Channing Tatum is amazing.
And I love the dancing!

Right Now...

Right now....I'm trying to have patience. To let life takes its turns without me meddling in it and messing things up. Things will happen, I know, I just need to be patient. And while I am thinking of how I need to learn to be patient I am seeing how inpatient I can be about things.

Right now....I am loving the book Little Women. I have been listening to it while at work (I am actually listening to it right now). Such a good book. I highly recommend everyone to read it.

Right now.....I am grateful for my family. And for my friends. I am seeing how truly blessed I am in to have such great people in my life. I am grateful for the sweet advice. the kind emails. and the long talks.

Right now....I'm trying to be better. I have so much I feel like I need to better about myself, that it can be overwhelming. But I am going to work on it.

and lastly right now...I have 2 and a 1/2 hours left of work.

Weekend Update

This weekend was pretty crazy. Friday I had quite a few errands to run. I got the majority of things I needed. Friday night we had a girls night over at Samantha's. I seriously love hanging out with those girls. I had a great time and I just love talking to them. I am so grateful for the friends I have. We watched 'He's Just Not That Into You'...I love that movie!

Saturday my mom and I went to get-together for the bariatric support group. We gathered and had breakfast. We have not seen a lot of those people since the bariatric support group closed. It was nice to see everyone. We then went to Old Navy and I bought lots of clothes. It was the first time I have been able to go into Old Navy and just buy clothes and have them fit me. I even had to get smaller sizes. It was nice. Maybe not such a good thing for my bank account though. (Thanks Mom for going and for your advice). Saturday night was a multi-stake YSA activity at the park. There were a lot of people that showed up. I really had a good time meeting new people and catching up with old friends.

That was pretty much my weekend. It was nice. I am tired today from being out late at a game night last night. But that's alright. I hope to get to bed EARLY tonight. We will see how well that works out.

Movie Quote Friday!

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Bailey: [in a video-recording] Hey, it's me, Bailey. You don't have to use this in your movie or anything, although now that I think of it, fainting in Wallman's does kind of qualify me as a loser. But then again, wearing a price sticker on your forehead probably makes you one, too. Ya know, I don't know, Tibby, maybe the truth is there's a little bit of loser in all of us, ya know? Being happy isn't having everything in your life be perfect. Maybe it's about stringing together all the little things like wearing these pants or getting to a new level of Dragon's Lair - making those count for more than the bad stuff. Maybe we just get through it... and that's all we can ask for.
Lena: [in her letter, after Kostas accuses her of being afraid to love him] He's right, Car. I am afraid. There's a part of me that wants to let him in but then I feel myself put this wall up and I don't understand why. Maybe that's what strikes me most about Kostas: that despite everything he's suffered he can still look at life in the most uncomplicated way. I've never known that kind of faith. It makes me so sad that people like Kostas and Bridget who have lost everything can still be open to love... while I, who have lost nothing, am not.
Tibby: Hey, do you know who would have loved this P, Bee? Your mom.
Bridget: Yeah. I remember this one time she decided that she'd make one herself. She always woke up starving after one of her episodes. I was just sitting in the kitchen doing my homework and she just walked in and just started making this thing. You know, I don't even know if you could call it a pizza. It was more like the entire contents of our refrigerator on a round crust.
[They all laugh]
Bridget: Craziest part is we actually ate it.
Carmen: Of course you did.
[Tibby laughs]
Bridget: We ate every single bit of that pizza in like 10 minutes.
Tibby: Yeah.
Bridget: And we were laughing the whole time. It was great. I remember thinking that maybe there won't be any more bad spells. Maybe she'll just be happy like this forever.
Carmen: It's okay to miss her, Bee. I mean, as hard as it is to be sad about it don't you think maybe it's harder not to be?
Bridget: [Crying] You don't understand.
Tibby: [long pause] Bridge...
Bridget: I can't. It hurts too much.
Carmen: I know.
Bridget: No, you don't know. I just want to feel good and happy and alive. Because if I feel alive then it doesn't seem like she's dead. And if I'm not sad then it proves that I'm not like her.
Carmen: Bee, you don't have to prove that to anybody. I mean, you have a strength in you that your mom never had. As much as she wanted to, she couldn't find it.
Tibby: Yeah, and you have something else too.
Bridget: What?
Tibby: You have us. And we're not gonna let you go anywhere, okay?
Bridget: Thank you.
Carmen: Come here.
[Carmen hugs Bridget and Tibby holds her hand]
Lena: Papou, I need to say something to you. You can pretend that you don't understand me, but I know you do. People have always said to me that I take after Yia Yia, that I have her face and her smile, but what no-one ever sees is that there's this whole other part of me that's just like you: quiet, and-and stubborn, and afraid of showing too much... and then I met someone who changed everything and he showed me that I can take a chance even when it's only for a moment...
Yia Yia: Lena!
Papou: Shh,
[Greek dialogue]
Lena: You had that same moment once, when you met Yia Yia and you risked everything for it. That was your chance, Papou, and I'm asking now to have mine.
[long pause]
Papou: [in English] Go.
Carmen: [voiceover] It would be easy to say that the pants changed everything that summer. But looking back now I feel like our lives changed because they had to, and that the real magic of the pants was in bearing witness to all of this and in somehow holding us together when it felt like nothing would ever be the same again.
[pause]
Carmen: Some things never would be
Lena: But we know now that no matter how far we traveled on our own separate paths...
Bridget: Somehow we would always find out way back to each other.
Tibby: And with that, we could get through anything.
Bridget: To us. Who we were, and who we are. And who we'll be.
Tibby: To the pants.
Lena: And the sisterhood.
Carmen: And this moment, and the rest of our lives.
Carmen, Lena, Bridget, Tibby: Together and apart.

Sensitive

Oh man...Fiona is SO sensitive. I got an alarm system in my car. And I was told it was at the lowest setting so it would take a whole lot for it to go off. I walked inside yesterday after doing some errands. The wind picked up and guess who started beeping. Then last night I was laying in bed and heard her. I have no idea what did it that time. But trucks driving by will set her off too. I don't get it. She seems to go off about 3 times a day . That is just when I am at home. I wonder if she ever goes off while I am at work. I would never know if she did.

Weekend Update

Didn't this weekend go by all too fast!
It was definitely very busy for me. But it was a ton of fun.
Friday, we had a girl's night with my Aunt Bonnie, Jessica, Kimberly, Mom, and I. They made this club pizza, which was to die for. so good. I am craving it right now. We played lots of games and stayed up super late. I had a ton of fun. It was just what I needed after the week I had.
Saturday was my Dad's birthday. Woot Woot! As well as a game night with some friends.
Sunday my mom was asked to teach her Chocolate eating class up at Girl's Camp. I went with her as her assistant. It was fun to watch her teach her class and to see the girl's graduate and receive their chocolate eating certification.
This weekend was just Go-Go-Go. But, I had a lot of fun!

Movie Quote Friday!

The Lake House

Kate: [voice over] Dear new tenant, welcome to your new home. I'm sure you'll love living here as much as I did.
Alex: What do you mean lived here?
Kate: Since no one has lived in this house for years.
Alex: I'm married too. I've got eight children and none of them look like me. I'm worried, Kate.
Kate: I would be too.
Alex: [chuckles] I'm single.
Kate: He's not my boyfriend.
Alex: What is he, then? Your brother?
Kate: Oh, we have a comedian! What, did you eat clown for breakfast?
Alex: Wonderful. Our first fight.
Kate's Mother: He sounds like a nice boy.
Kate: [disbelievingly] Anything else?
Kate's Mother: You mean the time-thing? That's just a detail.
Alex: [after he saw her at the subway station in 2004] I don't know if you remember but, we saw each other. That is, I saw you. You never told me... how beautiful you were.
Kate: Well, maybe you saw someone else. That was a bad hair year for me.
Alex: Long brown hair, gentle unguarded eyes...
Kate: OK, OK. You saw me. But I still don't know what you look like.
Alex: What's it like in the year 2006?
Kate: Well, I'm afraid the world's pretty much the same. Of course, we all dress in shiny metal jumpsuits and drive flying cars and no one talks anymore because we can read each other's minds... but, the truth is, from the past, not much has really changed in 2006.
Alex: I saw her. I kissed her. I love her.

Little Women

A few months back Callie and I were talking about the book she was reading, Little Women. She shared with me her favorite passage in the book. I have been listening to the audio book while at work and heard that same passage today. It really struck me. So I would like to share it.
"My child, the troubles and temptations of your life are beginning, and may be many; but you can overcome and outlive them all if you learn to feel the strength and tenderness of your Heavenly Father as you do that of you earthly one. The more you love and trust Him, the nearer you will feel to Him, and the less you will depend on human power and wisdom. His love and care never tire or change, can never be taken from you, but may be the source of life-long peace, happiness, and strength. Believe this heartily, and go to God with all your little cares, and hopes, and sins, and sorrows as freely and confidingly as you come to your mother."
This was especially uplifting today.

Weekend Update

This weekend seemed to go by all too fast. I guess that is what happens when your busy.
Friday, my mom and I tackled the baby shower invites for Samantha's shower. They turned out super cute! (I will be posting them to Oh Snaps soon)
Saturday was super busy. I attented Rachel's bridal shower. I am super excited for her. She is getting married in a couple weeks. She looks amazing! After that I went to a lunch with my cousins and we met with people about this company called Efusjon. {more info to come on that}. Saturday night I went to a going-away party for a couple friends. It was interesting being with this group of friends I used to hang out with all the time. They are now all married and starting families. It was great to see everyone.
{side note: I felt great and not at all depressed that I was one of a few single people in this group of marrieds. I thought it would be weird. But it wasn't}
Sunday night I ventured out to a game night. I have not been to one in a LONG time. I took that leap last night and went with Amanda. It was a lot of fun to meet new people. I am looking forward to more of those.
How was everyone else's weekend???
