Movie Quote Friday!

27 Dresses

Jane: I think you should just admit that you're a big softy, that this whole cynical thing is just an act so that you can seem wounded and mysterious and sexy...
Kevin: Whoa, whoa, whoa. What was the last one?
Jane: What?
Kevin: Did you say "sexy"?
Jane: [nervous] What?
Kevin: You think I'm sexy?
Jane: No.
Kevin: It's okay if you do.
Jane: I don't!

It's a fine art ...

My mom has taught me so much. Amongst that is the skill of Road Rage. Yes. Road Rage. Now its not that kind of road rage. Showing THE finger or cutting someone off. It's the talking kind. Of course no one else can hear it. Only those in the car. There have been a few times that we are both in the car. And at the same time we make these off the wall remarks. {ie. move over fatso, hello stupid!} Sometimes they are the same or very similar. This is usually followed by some laughter.
I came to a realization that when I do find 'that guy' he will NOT be allowed to ride with the both of us in the car until after we are married. It can be scary and overwhelming. Maybe I could warm him up to it. I'm not sure. But seeing us both going off at some stupid driver could be scary. Okay it is scary.
Thanks for teaching me mom.
{I have passed the lovin' along and taught maybe trained my friends in Road Rage}

Stay tuned...I made a Honey Bun cake last night and will post the recipe to Oh Snap!

The last meeting...

Last night was the last night for support group being offered at Banner Good Sams. The center is closing. And last night was the last meeting that they will hold. And I think EVERYONE showed up. It was neat to see so many people. And what a GREAT group of people they are. It has been so great to be surrounded with such great support. To know that there are others who understand what I am feeling. Last night something stuck out that someone said:
Success is ultimately up to you!
No one can make you successful and no one can make you unsuccessful. Bottom line the choice is mine. It is really weird to think that I am a little over 2 months out. Really weird. But I am so happy to be on this side of the fence. And I am so lucky to be surrounded with such amazing support at home. I think that may be why I am not panicked about the center closing. My family and friends have been a great support. I'm so lucky in that sense, because sadly some people don't have that support. I think we are going to try to go to the support group offered at Banner Gateway. But thankfully we will still be in contact with those from Good Sams group through the website. Also I am planning on hiking Havasupai in May with my Mom and other members from that group.

Moving Forward

I thought this idea was really neat...my cousin Heather over at a Goddess in Progress thought of doing this....so please read below and let me know what you think...you can also visit her blog here if you want to get in contact with her....

It works like this.

We decide on a place we want to go.

(With my friends it was San Diego.)

And then we figure the amount of miles it would take to get there.

(It was about 300 -from the Phoenix Area)

Then we

walk, jog, bike, run, swim
whatever

our way there.

Mile for mile on a bike or treadmill or the street

and

one mile for every 11 minutes of cardio in another form of exercise.

Then,

when all the miles are accounted for...

We go.

(We didn't actually end up in San Diego.
BUT I did work out more than I ever have before
and we DID take a very fun, and very deserved trip together!)

Since we are all spread out I was thinking maybe we could
tweak it so we group our miles and begin in L.A. and end
in Florida or New York or someplace in the East...
just to see if as a group we can "walk" across the U.S.

Or maybe we can just make groups based on location and
actually meet up for a trip.

? ? ?

So, any takers?

EMAIL ME: readingforyou [at] gmail [dot] com
this is Heather's email if you are interested

And if you are into this, feel free to take a button,
tell your friends, and pass it along.

We'll report in on MONDAYs
and then I'll post names and milage on the bottom of my blog
(if you want to be public with it -that is)

Team Walters

This is from a couple weeks ago. (My parents got us those shirts for Christmas a couple years back, they have our number on the back, I'm 4). Anyways... My Aunt Sandee and her beautiful daughters (Megan, Jenna, and Lacey) were in town for the weekend and we had a family get together at the park. It was so good to see them. And I loved talking some Twilight with them. They also came over that evening and we played Mafia...so much fun.
It was good to see you guys and I wish you weren't so far away!

Help Me!

I saw this hat while watching The Bachelor (don't judge) and I love it and I can't find it anywhere...so if you know where I can look or where I can find it, that would be great!
Thanks!!!

It was hot!

Yes. Another mountain post. Sorry if you are getting tired of them. I think they are more for my benefit. Motivates me to keep going.
It rained last night so today it was quite humid. As Chelsea said, "it feels like a sauna." It truly did. so thank you for that wind while walking up the mountain. We walked an additional mile today for a total of 5 miles. I was seriously dying towards the end. My body was done!
On a happy note, I busted out some new shoes I have been hiding since nursing clinical days...oh 3 or 4 years ago. It was nice not walking with rocks in my shoes. ( I did however develop a blister on my little toe) I also busted out some new workout pants (as they now fit.) It was good today. I am glad I am done.
Time to weigh myself (UGH!)

Movie Quote Friday

Mr. Darcy: How are you this evening, my dear?

Elizabeth Bennet: Very well. Only, I wish you would not call me "my dear."

Mr. Darcy: Why?

Elizabeth Bennet: Because it's what my father calls my mother whenever he's cross about something.

Mr. Darcy: Well, what endearments am I allowed?

Elizabeth Bennet
: Well, let me think..."Lizzie" for everyday, "my pearl" for Sundays, and "Goddess Divine," but only on special occasions.

Mr. Darcy: And what am I to call you when I'm cross? "Mrs. Darcy?"

Elizabeth Bennet: No, you may only call me "Mrs. Darcy" when you are completely, perfectly and incandescently happy.

Mr. Darcy: And how are you this evening... Mrs. Darcy? Mrs. Darcy... Mrs. Darcy... Mrs. Darcy!
[kisses her]

Shh!

Don't tell Bette-Sue
but
I have been trimming my bangs at least once a week.
they drive me crazy when they are too long...

Pressing Forward!

Friday evening there was a 24 stake fireside where Elder Bednar came to speak. It was so neat. He changed up the format and did more of a question and answer thing for about 2 hours. It was different and the spirit that was felt was amazing. I came away refreshed and determined to press forward. Something he said has just really stuck with me so that is what I am going to work on ... I also found out that he has quite a sense of humor and his wife is the cutest thing.

"You'll more readily recognize revelation
when your pressing forward instead of standing still."
- Elder Bednar

Someday - Take 3

Someday, it will get easier.

Someday, I won't feel like chucking myself off the side of the mountain.

Someday, my heart won't feel like its going to jump out of my chest.

Someday, I won't stop.

and

Someday, maybe I will even run.

p.s. I love you my dear superstition mountains!

Movie Quote Friday

Iris: I've found almost everything ever written about love to be true. Shakespeare said "Journeys end in lovers meeting." What an extraordinary thought. Personally, I have not experienced anything remotely close to that, but I am more than willing to believe Shakespeare had. I suppose I think about love more than anyone really should. I am constantly amazed by its sheer power to alter and define our lives. It was Shakespeare who also said "love is blind". Now that is something I know to be true. For some quite inexplicably, love fades; for others love is simply lost. But then of course love can also be found, even if just for the night. And then, there's another kind of love: the cruelest kind. The one that almost kills its victims. Its called unrequited love. Of that I am an expert. Most love stories are about people who fall in love with each other. But what about the rest of us? What about our stories, those of us who fall in love alone? We are the victims of the one sided affair. We are the cursed of the loved ones. We are the unloved ones, the walking wounded. The handicapped without the advantage of a great parking space! Yes, you are looking at one such individual. And I have willingly loved that man for over three miserable years! The absolute worst years of my life! The worst Christmas', the worst Birthday's, New Years Eve's brought in by tears and valium. These years that I have been in love have been the darkest days of my life. All because I've been cursed by being in love with a man who does not and will not love me back. Oh god, just the sight of him! Heart pounding! Throat thickening! Absolutely can't swallow! All the usual symptoms.

Can I dedicate this to all the stupid guys out there?

Banner Good Sams Bariatric Center - Closing

It was sad news last night at support group. The Bariatric Center of Excellence at Banner Good Sams is closing. No more support groups or anything for that matter from there after January. Banner Good Sams has been great and I am so grateful that I am 2 months out. I am so happy to be on this side of the fence. I am also so grateful to have such great support around me with my family and friends. We will be able to go to other support groups at different locations. It wont be the same. But honestly what can you do.
Doesn't it take so much more effort to be angry and upset than to be positive about change?

Brown Mountain - Take 2

We hiked up Brown Mountain again this Saturday. It was nice. And as much as I would like to say it was easier. I'm not sure I can. But I am glad I did it. And someday it WILL be easier, but for now, I'm doing it. Thanks for going with Mom and Chelsea.

I was frustrated!

So I just called the school to find out why I have not heard back about graduating. Found out I have to retake a class. Abnormal Psychology. I got a C-. And a C- is not a C. So now I have to retake that class. After trying to find out how I can get my student loan to cover it I was told I have to take at least 6 credits. They would not allow me to just take an elective course. It has to be in my degree program. But I have taken ALL the classes required. After crying and talking to my mom she mentioned retaking another class I got a low grade in. So after calling and trying to figure that all out I was able to enroll in another course that started last week and my student loan will cover it. So I will graduate in May. It was disheartening to hear I had to retake a class. But looking back I can see the need for it. It is a blessing in disguise.

Some of the best medicine...

When was the last time you were laughing so hard you cried?

Updated

Alright...we have finally updated our craft blog ...
Go check it out!!!!

Random Thought

I was driving down the 60 the other day on my way to work. Early in the morning. 4:30 am. At times I get so consumed in my thoughts or a song I am listening to I forget about the speed limit. Until. A bright flash goes off. Which makes my heart pump fast. And my foot move towards the brake. Thankfully, I tend to drive slower when I am deep in thought rather than speed up like some. So I am hoping that flash was not for me. Maybe it was that White Civic just a few feet ahead of me. I'm hoping. And loathing those photo radar cameras. Yes... Loathing!

New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve was loads of fun. It began with food. Of course. Including homemade salsa, guacamole, Taco's, meatballs and lots of sweets. Then we did Zumba which then turned into a random dance party. We learned the Hustle (thanks Mom!). We burnt a lot of calories. We may have lit some things that would then explode. And then it hi midnight and we lit our sparklers. It was tons of fun. One of the best New Year's yet.

They are Illegal

Fact: Fireworks are ILLEGAL in Arizona ...

Therefore, hypothetically speaking of course, if we were to use fireworks on New Year's Eve. And if we were all in the backyard. And if we, hypothetically speaking, were setting off several of those ones that go straight up into the air and then explode. You picturing it? (Hypothetically) What happens if one does not go off properly? What happens if it does not shoot up as high as it should? What happens when by the time it gets back down to eye level it then explodes? Hypothetically, if this were to happen...I think everyone would be screaming... um...and then making sure the embers go out and don't start a fire... Followed by laughter. Tons of laughter. Hypothetically...

That is what would happen if we were ALLOWED to use fireworks in Arizona.

{New Year's Eve pictures to come}
