Photos from the 2011 - Karl & Effie Welling Family reunion in Riverside, UT

Here are the photos I was able to capture at the 2011 Reunion in Riverside, UT! Enjoy - Jeanna

A 2nd cousin some of you might remember... Valerie Walkenhorst? or her mom Rhea LaVon Hess?

Low & behold - this is a very small world we live in. Someone I have known for 16 years as Dave's (my husband) cousin's wife... just so happens to be my 2nd cousin (once removed) but many of your 2nd cousins!!

This would be Val (Walkenhorst) Broadbent as I know her today with her Husband Kent - who is Dave's 1st Cousin & they live here in Green River with us (so yes, a double relation for Steve Lake & Julie (Lake) Young TOO!):

After our recent 5k race we had gone to China Garden for dinner afterwards & Val & Kent sat at our en
d of the big table by
us. Val was sitting right next to me & as we were all talking - Val happens to mention to me "So tell me who is Blain Welling is to you?"... Out of surprise of how she would know my Grandpa I told her!!

WELL - LOW & BEHOLD - her mother - Rhea Lavon (Hess) Walkenhorst & Grandpa Blain are cousins!! 1st Cousins!!! (How wild is that!) So her Grandma - Rhea Mae (Udy) Hess & my/our
Great Grandma Effie (Udy) Welling are sisters!!

So anyway - doing my duties Sunday Night at the Family History Center & ha
ving just returned back from a big Welling Family reunion - I was doing some research (As no one comes to the library on Sundays - so I might as well work.) I typed in &
was doing some work on Great Grandma Effie's side as many memories I had forgotten came back this weekend as we got to visit her house & hear many of the grand kids of hers tell stories - so I had to see if what I remembered was true & recorded & it was... Memories of my Great Grandpa that
I had - were from when I was only 3 & 4 years old - as he died when I was 4... (so that gives me hope that any & all memories we have had in our lives at some point will be able to be recalled - even if for now we don't remember them or have "things" that help to pull those memories ou
t & let us review them often!!) Sweet memories!! Anyway - as I was doing this I got the feeling to call Val & get some dates & info. & get it entered into my computer so I could link her with my family & to Kent - as I have him in my PAF connected to Dave's family!!

Low & behold she says - I have been wanting to call you all week. My mom is here from SLC &
brought with her a photo album & her family history info. I want to show you & I want you to meet my mom!! So instead of waiting till I got done at the FH center - she & her mom came to me & to visit at the FH Center!!

So I got to meet her mom - Rhea LaVon (Hess) Walkenhorst- we talked about some of
her amazing family memories - she was close to Aunt ReNae & recalled many memories of
the barn & the pasture with the bull in it, collecting eggs, etc. Some Neat moments for sure!! Then s
he gave me her book to bring home to copy & scan.

What a SMALL WORLD!!!

Below I will post the things that contain info. of our family that Rhea had in her book to share in case some of you don't have these or would like a copy!!

This would be her sister Rhea Mae (Udy) Hess
with Great Grandma Effie Welling!!
The house to the right is where Grandma Effie Welling grew up & she is the 2nd on the
far left with her little sister Rhea being on the very far left & the stroller between them.
