Hydrophobic Sand.

Hydrophobic Sand = Sand that has a fear of water.

This year for the WEP the girls and David decided to participate in the Science fair. They made waterproof sand!!
It was fun for them to do it with their daddy and to learn about things having fears as well.
Science girl
Their experiment was so great that they won third place!!! They got vouchers to the IT store and got themselves each an iPod shuffle.

Needless to say they really want to do it again :-)

Saudi National Day art competition

Back in September the University held an art competition and our very own David entered!!!
His entries in the photography category.
Brit and I during a heated discussion as to which picture should win.
The reception.
There were 3 categories (if I remember right) photography, calligraphy and painting. From all the entries they would choose 9 winners that will have their art feature as KAUST limited edition post cards. Out of the 9 there will be a first prize winner in each category.

David was among the 9 winners!!
I was so proud of him for making it, now I was curious as to which picture won (I had my favorite) and then, they announced the winner 'David Ketcheson"

Not only did he win top prize in photography but BOTH of his pictures made it to the post cards prints.
Sadly he was in Spain eating amazing food and we were the ones to receive the prize by the President of the University.
We are proud of you Daddy!!!

The winner!!
It was my favorite one too ;-)

With friends like these...

Some things are simpler,
Like setting up a table for a party.
Or making a cake that looks better than the ones at the bakery.
Making centerpieces out of nothing.
Even though some of them should have been resting with their feet up.
They still come up with fun ideas for a party.
Make sure you have a sparkly dress and a mask.
Let you make funny faces,
Over
and over
Again
They might think you are weird.
But they still find baby sitters, make dinner, and beautify themselves.
Meanwhile you are still very goofy,
And can't stop laughing
You try to behave
And calm down for a bit
but then, the opportunity comes
To be sassy again
to become the "Protagonista"

of the night
you manage to steal all the love
and attention.
Because after all, you are turning 30
and you have the most amazing friends that made it feel
like aging is not big deal at all.
