Halloween According To Teenagers

My kids are now at the stage that although the candy is nice, Halloween isn't the exciting, "what should I be?", plan a month in advance, like it use to be. They are into doing as less with costumes as possible while still be super cute and stylish. Dorky has been the response to many of my suggestions or, "I'm not covering my face with Halloween makeup!"

When my babies were little, they would drag me out at least 2 hours before the designated "trick or treat" time began. They would wear the cutest costumes and smile from ear to ear until they were forced to go to bed.

The one thing that remains the same is that Halloween is still there favorite time of year because of skulls, haunted houses, and tons of candy.

I guess I'll have to wait until I have grandchildren (many, MANY moons from now) to have that super excitement again for dressing up and trick or treating.

The Impulse Buys Really Pay Off

A while ago while shopping for some camping supplies, I came across a solar shower. It hangs from a tree limb and the sun heats the water all day. When you're ready to shower, just turn the lever and out comes warm water in the outdoors. Of course I made Brad get it but since living in the dessert, it hasn't been much use (by much I mean not at all).

Well, on Saturday I took a cold shower. I yelled to Brad to go check the water heater. Come to find out, the pilot light wouldn't stay lit and there was not going to be any hot water in my house without professional help. We called and our "couple of hours" wait time became Sunday morning.

Using my Magyver skills, we retrieved the camping shower (we had already packed it) and using a flexible cutting board (thanks Judy), funneled it into the shower spout and poured in heated water. Needless to say, it worked like a charm! Even though we had to kneel down so the hose wouldn't kink, we were able to take a warm shower and make it to church. Sometimes I even amaze myself with what I come up with in my family's time of need.

I'm Living in a CHAOTIC MESS!

I HATE MESS! Right now, I'm living with my stuff everywhere! My formal dining room is the home of the kids mattresses, dining room chairs, and my stackable cushioned couch. There literally is crap in every corner of my house. I know it's for a short while and it seems that no matter what I straighten up, something else will get put there. It'll be nice when this will all pay off and I'm sitting in my Lake House sipping on hot cocoa and enjoying the awesome view from one of my three decks.

Things I've Been Doing to Date

* Going home every couple of weeks
* Decided to move home in November (1 month earlier)
* Packing up my house
* Repainting my kids' rooms to a neutral color
* Decided to buy a house in Utah (our dream house)
* Had 2 kittens (Little Rascal and Lance Armstrong) spend the night
* Team Mom for our on base soccer team we're coaching (Outlaws)
* Been living in a messy house full of boxes for the move
* Still particular about spotless kitchen and bathrooms (especially the kids', they're GROSS!)
* Haven't had time to hang with friends because of move
* Got a renter for my home (an awesome friend with the funniest laugh)
* Had my mom stay with me for 2 amazing weeks
* Not blogging although still reading all my friends
