I dnt lv u nemore/status: single

I was reading a story this morning that just blew me away. Really. It did. It said that 34% of people ended their relationships through an email. An email. How cold is that I ask you? Pretty darn cold I think. But wait. It gets worse.

13% changed their Facebook status to single in order to let their now-ex-partners know that they had just become exes and 6% made the announcement on Twitter. Yes, Twitter. The place where just about anyone can read what you write without you even knowing that they are reading it.

The story went on to say that only 2% of people broke up via text. Whew. Isn't that a relief. <-- Sarcasm. BY TEXT?? Come on people, where is your sense of respect? To me that is completely disrespectful! Have some courage and honesty for Pete's sake! And how about a little compassion while we're at it please.

Only 38% of people surveyed had enough courtesy to break up the old fashioned way: face to face. Well I say KUDOS to those 38%. If you're going to break someones heart at least be nice about it.

I'm ranting today but I end well

Excuse me while I rant a moment please.

Dear William Dunigan,

Please go away. I do not wish to promote your books. You say Jesus leads you. I don't think He wants you to spam people's blogs. If you want to promote yourself, do it on your own blog. This is my blog and I get to choose what is or is not promoted. I choose to NOT promote you or your books. As a matter of fact, I refuse to even link to your blog during this rant. You start your spiel with "ARE YOU A HIGHLY EDUCATED PERSON?" and then continue on with why Jesus wants me to buy your books. Well, I'm sorry but I just don't believe Jesus is too worried about whether or not I buy your books. Stop leaving your comments here. They will be deleted. Thank you.

Aaaah, ok, I feel better now :)

Now on to the "ending well" part of my post. Like I told Mr. Dunigan above, this is my blog and I get to decide what and who I'd like to promote. And what I'd like to promote today is ME and TWO DEAR BLOGLAND FRIENDS :D

I was very blessed to receive two awards yesterday! My friend William from Williams Poetry Blog and my friend Susan from A Southern Daydreamer both gave me awards! You can click here to see my awards and read all about them. You can also click on the names of their blogs to visit them. I think you'll really like both of them. They are awesome people ♥

Now for promoting myself. I have a Fan Page on Facebook for my cookbook. I'd love it if you became my fan! Click here to go to my FB Fan Page.

See? I told you I'd end well! Have a great day everyone and I'll see you tomorrow.

Does this ever happen to you?

Sometimes I wonder just exactly what I've done to Blogger to make them hate me. Let me explain...

First, see that widget down there on the right hand side? Ok, I know there's more than one so I'll be specific. The one I'm referring to is NetworkedBlogs on Facebook. I actually have this blog, my other blog, Happy at Home, and my cookbook listed there but that's kind of beside the point.

The point is that Blogger doesn't send my updates to them half the time. Then when I force it to publish my latest posts, Blogger decides it's time to update them and I have double and sometimes triple posts of the same stuff. It's very irritating!

Of course I could be blaming Blogger unnecessarily. It may be Facebook that hates me. Even though I log into Facebook 20 million times a day. And I practically beg people to follow me there. I'm still blaming Blogger...

They apparently love Twitter though because those updates happen almost instantaneously. It seems like when I hit "Publish Post" here, they are on the screen there. It's pretty cool. Mentioning Twitter brings me to my next Blogger related complaint...

I found one of the blogs I follow on Twitter. It's a pretty cool blog, The Savage Legend. He started following my Twitter so I went to his Twitter page and decided I liked him and started following him. That led me to his blog and I decided I liked him even more so I started following him there too.

Here's the issue: I can't leave him any comments. If you know me, then you know I love leaving comments as much as I love receiving them. It's killing me.

I had an issue before with leaving comments on his blog and it turned out that he had comments disabled. He fixed that.

Then this morning I visited him. He had links listed and I tried to comment on those and let him know I'd visit them soon plus tell him that I really liked his new blog layout. I used that layout when I had this blog on Wordpress. It wouldn't let me tell him that. It kept telling me 'Service Unavailable'. Grr.

So I went to his next post about coffee. I love coffee Jonathan. I tried to tell you this but after I typed my comment and the word verification popped up, it was cut in half...hang on, I'll show you what I mean...

Ugh.

Maybe it's just your blog that doesn't like me.

I guess I shouldn't blame Blogger. It seems now that I've written this out that it's just Facebook and Jonathon's blog that hate me. I'm done complaining. :) I hope y'all have a great day.

Oh Facebook, why?

Let me first start out by saying I obviously can't read a calendar. TODAY is the Saturday to change your clocks, not the 14th like I told you in yesterday's post, Change. I changed it though. :)

Now on to Facebook. The social networking program has seen five different security threats in the past week.

These hoax applications attempt to trick Facebook members into divulging their usernames and passwords. And there is a worm running rampant on the site, installing malware on the computers of victims who click on a link to a fake YouTube video. It's called the Koobface worm.

According to a Yahoo news story, the Koobface worm searches for cookies on your computer, then makes a DNS query to check IP addresses that correspond to remote domains. They can then send and receive information about the affected machine. Once connected, they can remotely perform commands on the victim's machine.

Then the Koobface worm composes a message and sends it to the user's friends. The message contains a link to a website where a copy of the worm can be downloaded by unsuspecting friends. And the cycle repeats itself.

How crazy is that? Some people just have too much time on their hands. Combine that with a malicious attitude and you have trouble. Trouble for you. And trouble for your PC. My advice? Don't play on Facebook... No. I'm just kidding. Just be careful about how you play and pay attention. If something doesn't look right, get out of there. Never enter your password unless it's the normal log in screen. There is no place, no application, no "extra" on Facebook that requires you to reenter your username and password. I promise. I'm there all the time.

As far as the fake YouTube video link, don't click on any links unless you are 100% positive about where they originated. My PC is loaded down with anti-spyware programs that won't allow me to visit links until they've been scanned and approved. It definitely slows my computer down but, to me, it's better to be safe than sorry. Today's news reaffirmed that.

Facebook: A reason to kill?

In the virtual world, Facebook is at the top of the list of social networking sites. Millions of people all over the world connect through Facebook every day. On the front page it tells you that "Facebook helps you connect and share with the people in your life". It also encourages you to participate by announcing "It's free and anyone can join".

I have a Facebook page. I think most people know that if it's available online, more than likely I have something there. I enjoy my time on Facebook. I play several of the games. Sometimes I write there, although most of my writing is here on Blogger. I keep up with several family members and friends that live far from me. It is a connection site for me.

And it is a connection site for many other people all around the world. I came across this story out of Britian last night about Facebook. A 41 year old man became enraged when his estranged 26 year old wife changed her status on Facebook to single.

Sarah Richardson moved back in with her parents back in April of 2008 because she had decided her marriage to Edward Richardson was over. She had stopped responding to his calls and texts and changed her Facebook status to single. Edward then went to her family home, broke the window in the front door and attacked and murdered her in her bedroom.

After stabbing her to death he attempted to take his own life but failed. On Friday Edward was convicted of the killing and sentenced to 18 years in prison.

The headline of the story from The Independent was 'Life for wife-killer enraged by Facebook change'. Well I'm sorry but 18 years is not LIFE. He'll be 59 when he gets out of prison. 59 doesn't seem old to me. It seems like he'll have a lot of life left to live after his "life" sentence is completed.

According to the Wikipedia free encyclopedia, life imprisonment time varies from country to country and ranges from a minimum of 7 years to the death of the prisoner. Some countries have banned life imprisonment saying that it violates human rights.

What I want to know is what about the human rights of the people that were murdered? Did they not have the right to live their lives until a natural death occurred? And why does the person that took someone's life have more rights than the person they killed? That's basically what I feel they are saying. We know you killed someone and violated their right to live in the most heinous way, but we don't want to violate your right to live your life. We'll just keep you here and feed you for a few years and then we'll let you go...if that's alright with you.

Why worry about what they deserve? They MURDERED another human being. That person has no rights anymore to me. They don't get to decide anything. They ended someone's life therefore I believe their life should be ended too. Not just 18 years worth either. Forever.
