Ivan Was Here

Ivan gave me my first bouquet of the summer yesterday. Aren't they purty!
Ivan was here. Can you see the orange marks on the gate, in the shape of fingers swiping along it as he walked by. Probably on his way to wash them.
Don't know what this outfit is about.
If Ivan asks me a question and I know the answer he will ask surprised and then ask me how I knew it. I tell him, "I'm smart." Ivan's response. "No, I'm the only smart one, you're just lucky."
What kid? Are you serious? You are the only smart one? Love the boy.
In that bucket is cinnamon rolls, 'mud cinnamon rolls'. Yum, anyone want a taste?

Sick, Sick, Sick

Well, we have a little bit of a sick family right now. I am doing better, took my last pill for my shingles tonight. Now for it to just clear up and go away.
Just when we think Daphne is on the mend, she has another bout of  the runs. Or throws up.
Ivan has an ear infection and pink eye.

Ok, here is the story. I mentioned Daphne was not doing well. Curtis and I had plans to head to Utah for the supercross race. The kids were going to stay at gma's so we could go. Well, we decided Daphne should not go to grandma's so Curtis went to the race by himself and gave my ticket to his cousin. The kids still wanted to go to gma's and she was still willing to take them, so that is what we did, leaving Daphne and I home alone for the night.

We put Daphne to bed at 8pm on Friday night. I woke her up when I was checking on her at 11:30 the next morning!! She was still tired though and was back asleep by 12:45. She fell asleep on me and I just sat and cuddled that little sweetie. She woke up again around 4 and was fine going to bed at 7:30. She slept until 8 the next morning.

Today I took her and Ivan to the doc. I thought she was on the mend, but her diarrhea came back today. The doc said hers was viral, and it just needed to run its course. I hope that is soon.

Ivan is already on the mend - got some drops in his eyes and some amoxicillan for his ears.

Pray we all get better soon and that Curtis and Trinity are spared.

TuTu's

Trinity put a tutu on Miss Daphne. Then she decided that she needed one. Of course if the girls had one on, well Ivan had too to. Then they wanted pictures taken. Well, Daphne not so much. She just wanted picked up.

Tooth #7

On Friday night, Trinity shows us that she had a loose tooth. She could push it back into her mouth pretty far. She gave it a tug, but couldn't get it. She went down to bed and came up about 3 minutes later saying she got it out. She pushed it forward with her tounge and out it popped! She put it under her pillow with a note for the tooth fairy. It said something like, "Dear Tooth Fairy, I think this is my 7th tooth I lost. Sorry about the messy room."

Well, miracles of miracles, the tooth fairy remembered to come, that night!! She also left a note that said something like, "Dear Trinity, yes it is tooth #7. Keep brushing your teeth good. p.s clean your room. Love the T.F" Oh, and it was a tiny note, as the tooth fairy is small, and it was sparkly!!

Sickie

My poor little girl has not been feeling well all week. Well, she is acting fine, but her butt is exploding regularly and she doesn't have a great appetite. It began Tuesday night. While I was grocery shopping she had a huge blowout for Curtis. Then Wednesday she woke up around 5:30. She was nasty poopy and her poor private area was so red and sore. I changed her little toosh, gave her tylenol for the pain and then gave her snuggles until she fell back asleep. Here is what I wrote about it that day on Facebook:
  1. Treasured the snuggles/cuddles I got with Daphne this morning at 5:30 am.
I can say that because it hasn't happened in months and is hopefully an isolated incident.
Confession: I may have held and rocked her long after she was asleep because I know how fleeting these moments are and she is growing so fast!
Wednesday, though she was still raw and sore and exploding, she was a  happy girl all day.
Thursday I pulled her out of bed, changed her nasties and ran Ivan to school. I stopped at the store real fast after then home. I was holding little miss and she turned into me and layed her head on my chest, and fell asleep! It was so precious. I just sat there for a while holding and rocking her. I loved every minute of it. Then she woke after a 4 hour nap. I fed her and changed her again. She was barely up an hour when we had a repeat of the morning. She turned into me and fell asleep. I held and rocked her for a while, until it was time for Trinity to come home. Then I knew I had to do too much. So, I put her back in bed and she slept for another good 2 1/2 or so hours. We called the dr that night and the nurse said to put her on an all pedialite diet for 24 hours to give her tummy a rest. Saturday morning we can reintroduce the formula and a brats diet.
So far today she had one blowout. She played for  a while this morning and has been sleeping since 11. She is loving the pedialite. We will see what happens when she wakes with her bum.
These pictures are from earlier in the week. I was giving her some nakey time to try and air out her poor diaper rash.
As soon as I pulled out the camera, of course Ivan had to get in on the action.
And Monkey had to be included.
Honestly, I am begging to think we got a bad can of formula. It is the only constant in her diet since this all started, I am thinking that perhaps something is wrong with it and so we will use different stuff when we give her formula again. I just hope she feels better soon for a variety of reasons, one being all the laundry she is making for me!

Outside Fun

We had decent weather yesterday so we took advantage of it and headed outside. Trinity chose not to join us, so she is not in any of the pictures.
Ivan had a great time "crashing" into this hay bale.
Oh my how Daphne LOVES Isa.

Makeover

No, not for me, but for my china hutch in my kitchen. It is an older one, my mom gave it to me and I believe it was passed down to her also. I had been storing some nice dishes in it, but they were dishes we never use. When we bought this place, I thought my kitchen had enough storage, it was like triple my old place. Wrong! I just have so much kitchen stuff it is ridiculous. So, I decided to get rid of these dishes I don't use and use this for storage of stuff I do use. Plus, while I was packing up those dishes, I found $72 dollars! Score.
Here is the before:
 And the after.

Shingles

More than a week ago I told Curtis my leg hurt. I told him it was a weird hurt as it seemed like it was in the bone. Then on Friday of last week I had a rash appear. It was not an itchy rash, it was a painful rash. It got to the point where I could not sleep on my tummy because the pressure on my leg hurt. Kneeling was basically out of the question, and if you are a mom, you know that you have to kneel during the day. Finally on Tuesday I gave in and went to the dr. Turns out it is shingles! Say what? I asked him, isn't that an old people thing? He said it can affect anyone who has had chicken pox, which I did. He has even seen teenagers with it.
So, my leg is in pain and if I am not careful I could spread chicken pox to Daphne.
Getting old is fun I tell ya, fun.

Cake

I had some leftover cake from previous projects so decided to turn it into a practice cake. Can I just say that the fondant was not my friend this day. It just would not cooperate with me. So, it has issues, but in the end I was happy with the brushed embroidery I did on the cake. I thought the green and pink look good together.

Standers

Curtis stood Daphne up at the ottoman today and she did really good at standing there. I was impressed at how long she did it. Some days I am so not ready for her to grow up. It is happening too fast.

She is such a daddies girl!!

Sneak Peak

Here is a little sneak peak of Trinity's upcoming dance recital. She has her normal 2 dances, the lyrical and the jazz. This year she also has her tap dance and as usual she will be in the finale. Her dance pictures were this week and here is a sneak peak of one of her outfits! How cute is she.

Oh, and for those interested: her recital is Friday May 24th!!

Let's Go Fly A Kite

For Easter the kids got kites in their baskets. First it was too windy for flying them, then there was no wind to fly a kite. Finally we had a day that was semi-perfect for kite flying. The kids had fun sending them up.

He Says....

Oh my, once again Ivan has said the funnest stuff.

Driving to preschool: "mom, I want to serve Miss Ruth and Miss Amanda"
Serve them? What do you mean?
"I want to serve them."
Ok, how do you want to serve them?
"Like bring them something nice."

(yeah, I am doing something right, well I should say we are. Temple marriage and wants to serve others. Excuse me while I go pat myself on the back.)

Driving home from preschool: "mom, Carlos was bothering me at school."
He was huh, what was he doing?
"he was doing this: (makes some annoying noise)"
Was he doing it in your face?
"no, just next to me. I told him to stop and to not come to my girl and my girl is Nevaeh."
You told him not to talk to or come near your girl and your girl is Nevaeh?
"I told him not to talk to her or come near her."

(So hard not to bust out laughing!)

He was super sweet yesterday. Daphne was scooting all over the kitchen and headed toward me. I was at the stove frying chicken. He told me to watch out, Daphne was coming and she would touch the hot stove. I told him it was not hot and she was ok. He then proceeded to touch the bottom of the oven and make sure. He agreed that it was not hot. However, he continued to check it at least 4 or 5 times while I was making dinner. He is so sweet and so helpful with Daphne. Sometimes he is too much in her face, but he will always take care of her. (watch out future boyfriends!)

The Dread Pirate... Ivan

Ivan's left eye is a little off. It often looks crossed or could be described as a "lazy eye" but not too bad. I took him to the eye dr to have it checked out and see if something was up or if it was just me. Well, yep, that eye is weaker than the other one. It crosses in a little too. If he is looking at you directly, you can notice it. I hope we caught it early and can do some preventative measures to get it taken care of. We are starting with a patch. We will cover his good eye so it forces his weaker eye to do the work. The dr said that because it has to work harder, basically the brain will just stop telling it to work and then it won't. So, we are making it. He said to have Ivan wear the patch as long as he will and as often as he will. The dr also apologized, telling me he was sorry I had to do the patching as it will be a struggle and a battle of wills.

I take him back again in 6 months. Guess we will see then what the dr says. For now, I will come up with different ways to get him to wear it.

Purple Rose/Tangled Cake

Someone wanted a swirl rose cake. She wanted it in purple and told me she would buy some toys for on top. Simple and easy peasy. Love that kind of cake. Here is how it turned out.

Gated Community

It has happened, far sooner than I thought it would, but it has happened. We have had to put the gate up. Yesterday as I was bringing in groceries Daphne made it all the way from the living room to the garage steps. That is a good distance for a scooter.
then as I was out in the garage putting things away, she made it to the stairs. The kids were playing with her and Trinity went down to go potty. Ivan went down to do who knows what and Daphne thought she should follow.
As I am outside I hear her crying and Trinity screaming, "Mom! go get mommy" I rush in to find Trinity holding Daphne. Daphne tried to follow Ivan down the stairs, head first on her tummy. He was laughing at her newest achievement and Trinity came to see what was so funny. She caught Daphne on like the 4th stair. No harm done, but we have put the gate up!

Last night Trinity Nielsen and her friends wanted to have a get together before one left for most of the summer. They wanted to sleep in th...
