Julie and Julia

This past weekend I went to the movie, Julie and Julia. AWESOME. I left very much uplifted, inspired, and intrigued to go out and buy the cookbook and several other books that it took to make this movie. Meryl Streep does an amazing job at portraying Julia Child. WOW. She was hilarious. It was awesome to see the relationship between Julia and her husband. The support and love was great. I left the movie feeling like I needed to stop sweating the small stuff and that I really needed to learn how to relax again. Before this year I was never sweating the small stuff. I was so happy go lucky and did whatever floated my boat! Since lots of stress and events have come into our lives, (grandpa coming to live with my mom and dad, and having a baby) I've forgotten about living care free. Now, not all of this has to do with this one movie, but it is really nice to see a movie where someone is as carefree as you'd like to be, but also with our recent visit to the temple. Jon and I were blessed to be able to go to the temple and do sealings together. It was an amazing experience and really helped me focus on my family. Especially Jon and my relationship. I feel very blessed to be able to have a companion that can take me to the temple where we can become closer as best friends and companions.

2009 Fair!

We went to the fair last week. Jon (my hubby) was even excited to take Jacob to see the animals. HE NEVER has wanted to take me to the fair before this, I was kind of scared that I would be the only one taking Jacob this year, but I was pleasantly surprised when Jon brought it up! It was Jacob's first time and I'm pretty sure he loved it. He loved the animals and the yummy food. Jon-Jon came with us and helped push the stroller. He kept telling Jon and I to hold hands, because he didn't want people thinking that Jacob was his kid. I told him I would push the stroller, but he wouldn't let me. I got one of my favorite dishes... a foot long corn dog. YUM. Jon got nachos and we shared a milkshake. One of the best dinners if I say so myself. I also got to MILK a goat. There was a nice girl there milking her goat and asked if anyone wanted to milk it, and of course I ran over there and told her that I DID!! It was interesting... but fun. I felt like I fulfilled my life in Moses Lake and at the fair, because of that. Now, maybe I can convince Jon to let me get a goat so I can make my own cheese!

If you haven't been around Jacob for a little while, here he is making his incredibly LOUD gasping sound. Whenever Jacob sees something he really likes he makes this sound. It is pretty funny, especially when we are at the store and he does it pretty much every 3 seconds. Oh, and this is a gigantic bunny that was roaming for free petting. Not as big as Ry's bunny, but it will suffice until we take a trip to Utah!

Oh, and his shirt does say, "My mom rules."

Probably as many calories in this yummy dinner to fulfill my entire day.

Go River Dogs!

My dad bought season family passes to the River Dogs this year and asked us to come last night! We had a great time. It was fun to hang out with my dad. Jacob loves his grandpa and come to find out... LOVES baseball! This is seriously the only time I've been able to put a baseball cap on his head that he has kept on for more than three seconds. Jacob lasted on the stands for about fifteen minutes! That is record breaking. Then, Jacob and I walked around the baseball park for the rest of the night. Needless to say, he was out on the ride home. Thanks dad for taking us!

Pacific Crest Trail

Last week, I told Jon that it was his turn to plan a date. So, this is what he came up with, a family hike! We drove past Leavenworth by Steven's Pass, then drove on this super BUMPY dirt road for about a half an hour (seemed like 3 hours) and finally made it to this trail up in the mountains. We hiked for about two miles. Jacob actually loved the bumpy ride, he was laughing for the most part. Then I think he just got bored because he was just staring out the window. We packed a picnic lunch and ate before we started. It was 58 degrees! We were so cold and Jacob's cheeks and nose were bright red. The hike was fairly easy (but I'm glad that I've been walking two miles every morning for the past couple of months to help). Jacob did really well, and Jon wanted to carry him on his shoulders the whole way, since the path didn't allow any kind of wheels, which now after hiking it, there were so many boulders, rocks, and streams that we wouldn't have been able to take a stroller, but we should have brought the baby carrier that you use on your back. Anyway, Jon didn't want to bring it, so he packed Jacob in on his shoulders, which worked out really well, until Jacob had enough and wanted me to hold him. We made it to a small lake and let Jacob walk around and play in the dirt. By the time we started heading back, Jacob was done. It was around 2:00 PM and Jacob hadn't taken a nap yet (he usually goes down around 10:00 AM), he was hungry and tired, and let everyone on the mountain know about it. At least we knew for sure we weren't going to have any surprise mountain lion or bear sights! Jacob's screaming even scared all the birds away. We ended up practically running the last 1/2 mile back to the truck. When we got back to the truck, Jacob fell asleep instantly and didn't even wake up while we were driving down the mountain! His head was jolting back and forth and he didn't even open his eyes.

Garden, Garden, EVERYWHERE

Friday night (July 31st) Jon, Jacob, and I went to Uncle Charlie's to pick some strawberries, green beans, nectarines, and corn. WOW. His garden is so big. Jon stayed until 3 in the morning helping Charlie pick all of the corn for farmer's market the next morning. Then, woke up at 6 to go help sell the corn! Jacob loved the strawberries and the dandelions. They were all over and Jacob couldn't keep his hands off of them. He was pretty impressed when I would blow the dandelion seeds. I love that he thinks I can do magic tricks. Jacob and I left after a short amount of time because Jacob was getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. Charlie's garden is right next to a little ditch, where the mosquitoes swarm, so we were in danger from the beginning.

Setting this sucker to private

So, Jon has been bugging me and bugging me about setting our blog to private and after hearing on the news that blogs were being used for fake private adoption profiles, I cracked.
