A Sevenling Dual Poem

There was a grey man

His feet were made of clay

Eyes of cat glass, thumbs were tin

Wife's stomach growled

Her nose constantly dripped

Smile on her face, loving pair

They watched TV while baby cried

Spring flowers bloomed

Hibiscus were orange

Purple lilies, roses pink

The puppies yapped

Kittens suckled, honking geese

Yet rains and sunshine making love

Man, flowers, beasts, all tuned for spring

makes babies smile

 - There at the Muse Toni has asked to write a Sevenling poem.  This is my second poem for the Garden. I woke up this morning at 4:50 and couldn't get back to sleep. So I read Margaret's pretty Sevenling. Yes, I would try. Mine wasn't so good but I couldn't stop so I added another to have a Sevenling Dual. The whole thing isn't real good but I spilled out my crazy mind. I do that a lot, I'm wishing for a smile.

Grazing ~~ a Tuesday Platform Poem

Southern Cattle Grazing

They nibble, take a bite here and again
Going down by the slough, green and grassy
They'll stop, something substantial for the cud
Southern cows, babies in tow, males clumped

Happier today, fresh pasture beckons
Carry their plate, it would be very full
Mention food and they'll come from miles and miles
Southern Baptist cattle, they like to eat

Bibles are on chairs saving their places
Younger ones, a few older, have iPads
Dollar for the plate, quarters for kids
Preacher gets paid, tells their sins, Bible says

Another bite, piece of cake, coffee calls
They've grazed enough, tummies full, chew their cud
Listen to the preacher, God hating sin
Sing songs, praise the Lord, Jesus in their hearts

Do we think all cows will go to Heaven?

 - Bottom pictures were taken 1-24-2016 at the Second Baptist Church, Houston, FM 1463 Campus (link) where we had our annual "Great Big Breakfast."  Turnout was great, we had 20 eight-foot tables of food.  

 

 - I hope I'm not being sacrilegious here.  Actually I do believe that all animals, God's creatures, will go to Heaven, they are eagerly waiting (Romans 8:18-25 [click here]).

 

 - Top picture is a part of the flood control network for our subdivision, Cinco Ranch, in Katy, Texas (link).  It was formerly farm land, rice fields and pasture land.  There are no cows grazing here anymore.  Note the 2.1 mile walking trail around this part of the network.  We walk a mile or two, 30 minutes doctor's orders. 

 

The Ride -- Sunday Challenge poem

 

The Ride;

Follow, coach, ride, here

 

Where ever you lead I'm sure to follow (a)

Paths unknown tend to be a bumpy ride (b) 

Even so I'll take the chance, you're my coach (c) 

In your steps I want to be, now and here (d) 

 

Say it softly and nice, your words I'll hear (d)

Help me to love, encourage me and coach (c) 

In my ear, after you will I follow (a) 

Cooing and love-struck I'll happily ride (b)

 

Side by side, the two of us, we will ride (b) 

Hugs and kisses with more still to follow (a)  

When roll is called always I'll answer, "Here"! (d) 

Every trip will be nice, first class or coach (c) 

 

Can't lose me now, I'm sitting in your coach (c)

Right here, flowers in my heart, did you hear (d) 

Two make a whole, you please enjoy your ride (b)

 - Today, I am linking again with The Real Toads, this time with Marian in her Tuesday post, The Tuesday Platform: NaPoWriMo Eve .  During the month of April a lot of poets and 'poem' writers like me write ONE POEM for/on EACH DAY OF THE MONTH.  I don't think I will do that, I may start out. But sure to look for and read the efforts of the others.

 

 - Saturday I linked with Björn Rudberg of The Real Toads, at Sunday Mini Challenge - not a sestina but close.   Bjorn wanted us to write a 'near' sestina form poem, mostly shortened. 
 - Composing staying within it's rhyme scheme was a bit hard for me to follow.  This is the required rhyme scheme:  A - (Follow) B - (Ride) C - (Coach) D - (Here/hear);   D - C - A - B;   B - A - D - C;   C - D - B - A;   A - B. with the four words here in parenthesis being words which I chose for this poem.  The four letters correspond to the position of each rhyme word.
 - Oh yes, the meaning and/or context of each of four words are supposed to be different for each line.

Frost ~~ Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Golf course pictures were taken from our back porch

Monday morning with frost on the golf course. Temps got down to 26, the lowest of the year (2007, this year also) so far.

My Haiku/Senryū

frost on the golf course
means a frost delay for sure
we'll tee off at ten

Saturday morning after a nighttime storm with a couple of inches of rain.

morning after rain
good earth extra bright and green
golf starts at seven

Sunday morning, not a cloud in the sky!

Sunday morning bright
honor sabbath--keep it holy
afternoon golf

Fruits de Mere -- MidWeek Blues -- The Jim Bunch Eats

Or Fruits of the Sea as my friend Joe, of Joe's Pizza and Pasta, calls this dish. Joe closed his Italian restaurant in New Jersey and moved here so we could enjoy delicious fruits of his Italian cooking skills.

Mrs. Jim and I shared this. I am not sure I could eaten the whole thing. I had my first on Mont-Saint-Michel (link) off the Normandy Coast of France.

It was in a quaint little restaurant carved in the mountain giving it a sort of cave-like atmosphere. Yet we could watch the pedestrians walking along on the sidewalks outside.

We have visited Mont-Saint-Michel three times, staying overnight on the island each time. Make hotel reservations early if you'd like to do that.

In this restaurant which was no exception to the general practice, patrons' dogs would come in with them to eat. The dogs are tethered on the owners' chairs and lay perfectly still until it is time to leave. Some save a scrap for their dogs.

That doesn't happen in Texas although Katrin sits perfectly still under our table while we are eating. Adi would beg through the whole meal if we let her.

This was another meal after Church eating with some from Mrs. Jim's Sunday school class. They go to a restaurant almost every Sunday.

Once and in a while they do have a pot luck lunch. We never turn down an opportunity to eat with the group whatever we do or wherever we go.

Flowers in the wild -- no, not wild flowers

except for the white wild blackberry bush flowers in the first picture.

The rest are our little red bud tree in bloom (first picture) and the azaleas in full bloom today in the second picture. Gone are the red bud flowers and the white blackberry bush blooms.

The wild, yes, because we have let this bed grow wild. As soon as people do that around here, those blackberries move in.

The Empty Tomb

1 On the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark. She saw that the stone had been removed.

11 But Mary stood outside facing the tomb, crying. As she was crying, she stooped to look into the tomb.
12 She saw two angels in white sitting there, one at the head and one at the feet, where Jesus’ body had been lying.
13 ... they’ve taken away my Lord,” she told them, “and I don’t know where they’ve put Him.”
14 Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, though she did not know it was Jesus. ... 18 Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord!" And she told them what He had said to her. [See note, below]

Supposing He was the gardener, she replied, "Sir, if you've removed Him, tell me where you've put Him, and I will take Him away."

Turning around, she said to Him in Hebrew, "Rabbouni!" —which means "Teacher."

17 "Don't cling to Me," Jesus told her, "for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to My brothers and tell them that I am ascending to My Father and your Father—to My God and your God."

18 Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord!" And she told them what He had said to her.
