The Sunday Muse -- Time's Big Change

Doom

The Moon shone brightly, storm was gone
One small cloud stayed for company
Both had hope for the universe
All others fled there were no stars

The moon the cloud and one lone bird
Just those three and oodles of wet
Old Sol was spewing fire brimstone
Puking like a drunken old man

The bird ignorant it played dumb
The Moon was tired and growing dim
The fluffed cloud was seeking a lamb
The Sun nearly emptied his gut

After that it was all lights out
One cloud to float away, bird dies

NaPoWriMo 2021 Day 22 -- Earth Day

[This old Model A Ford Pickup was parked in our church parking lot one Sunday.  Don't know whose it was but I'd like to have one like it.]

Earth Day

What does that mean to you
Several years ago those words meant
Get out the old pickup,
we will pickup trash.
When we got it full
We'd drive to the dump
and then go for another load
and maybe plant a tree

These to show our
appreciation to
Mother Nature,
work to keep her pretty

Nowadays it's still plant a tree
But there is more

Like
write your congressman
sign your name to a petition
charge your PayPal
a hundred bucks
or less to
the Sierra Bunch,
get six friends to do
the same,
and then go plant the tree
and get out the old pickup
truck to pickup trash.

These to keep our home,
bodies, and planet
habitable and
looking
nice

 - I am attempting to write at least one poem a day for the National Poem Writing Month.  Today is Day 22 of the 30, you can see my progress here,

 - Write a poem using a Metonymy and I wanted to write also for the observance of "Earth Day" in my writing today.  Earth Day represents more than just a holiday.  It represents out of the ordinary  action that one doesn't ordinary do for the purpose of making and keeping our Earth the fine place it physically is.

 - Metonymy (/mɛˈtɒnəmi/)[1] is a figure of speech in which a thing or concept is referred to by the name of something closely associated with that thing or concept.[2] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metonymy

NaPoWriMo 2020 Day 22 - Earth Day Poem

     Sierra Club *

Earth Day 2020

April twenty-second again
The day, Earth Day 2020
To me it is recognition
Beautiful planet where we live

We plant new trees in its honor
Fertilize and trim what we've got
Trees and flowers Nature's resource
Beautiful planet we must help

Pick up trash that others have left
Proclaim to the world our duties
Food and clothing minerals and rocks
Beautiful planet sustains us

We mustn't forget the critters
They were here way before we came
Those critters and Indian race
Beautiful planet room for all

Earth Day 2020 calls us
Protect preserve and cultivate

Appreciation planet good

Monday Note:  !!! HAPPY EARTH DAY !!!

1.  I believe that God has ready for us life on the other side of that darkness. And for the pictured property over by our Post Office (Willis, Texas) as He made us stewards of our earth and all that is in an on our planet.

2.  STEWARDS:We are stewards of God's earth, ruling over that which is not ours. "You [God] made humans ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under our feet: All flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas," Ps 8:6-8. (more of God's plan for us and His earth link)
3.  I am celebrating EARTH DAY over on my FaceBook page.
