Travelogue: Ipoh

After 6 months of internship, it is time for vacation! It begins with eat-along-the-way trip in Ipoh together with a group of friends. There are seven of us including me. I drove from Taiping to Ipoh and reached there around 9.30a.m. From there, the "makan" journey begins!

Day 1
Pit stop 1: A small coffee shop
We ate some colourful "kuih", nasi lemak, curry wan tan mee, dry pan mee and pan mee soup. Overall, it is tasty especially nasi lemak. Thumbs up! What a good start for my "makan" journey.

Pit stop 2: The popular "yong tau fu" shop under a big tree with refreshing fruit juices
The prices for the "yong tau fu" are quite cheap and there is a wide range of selection to choose. The fruit juices are simply thirst-quenching! It freezes my brain too.

Plenty of people waiting for their turn!

Nyet Wai with red bean drinks!

Very colourful right?

Pit stop 3: Hong Kee Mah Chee
Here, we tasted a smily peanut-butter-taste alike. This small little stall is no ordinary stall as its food is popularly recommended by Ho Chak (a show at 8tv that introduces delicious food around Malaysia)

My turn to promote!

Pit stop 4: The Funny Mountain soya bean and "tau fu fah" shop
When we reach there, there has been already a long queue of people and cars waiting. No doubt this shop is famous for its soya bean and "tau fu fah". This shop has a self-made drive thru lane!

See?

Nyet Wai with her soya bean and "tau fu fah"

While waiting for our turn in the car, let's have some photo!

Pit stop 5: Kek Lok Tong
We just stop by to take a brisk walk and snap some photos.

Pit stop 6: Ayam Garam Aun Kheng Lim

Pit stop 7: "Tong shui kai"
We ordered a mixed fruit ice kacang. I was salivating by just looking at those vibrant colours of the fruits.

Isn't it beautiful?

Pit stop 8: Restoran Vnam Kitchen
We are served with popularly recommended Vietnamese dishes. One word to describe those dishes - DELICIOUS!

Pit stop 9: Fifteen Tower Tauge Chicken
The shop's name says it all. Tasty tauge chicken and chicken legs too!

Pit stop 10: Kim Bali Restaurant
This restaurant serves popular Thai food. We order a variety of Thai food especially seafood tomyam. The food is mouth-watering and appetizing! Even though it is slightly expensive but it worth every penny of it!

Pit stop 11: KTM station
After our stomach is bloated, it is time to take a walk and have some photo taking station!

Day 2
Pit stop 1: Another small coffee shop

Pit stop 2: Stalls near Stadium Perak

Cockles

Fish satay

Rojak

That's the end of my Ipoh "makan" journey!

After A long Hiatus Pt. Two

My internship has officially ended on 31st June. Overall, my internship was quite good. I may not have a good start of my internship; however, I did end with much satisfaction and pleasure. I did make a few friends and I am glad that I have the opportunity to know them.
Different people have different stories to inspire you in different aspects
The last two months of my internship was simply marvelous. I had outings most of the days especially after work. Even though it was tiring, but every single day is ended with a smile on my face. It may be for a very short period of time but most importantly, I really enjoyed. Things that I do within two months:

a) Bowling sessions

I just love the bowling centre in Genting. They have a mixture of disco and of course, bowling centre. Playing bowling in glow-in-the-dark environment with great music is indeed enjoyable.

b) Chit-chat session

We always have a chit-chat session after bowling session before we head back to our rooms. We share laughter and jokes among us. Each chit-chat session always have our stomach filled with air and muscle pain due to laughing too much. I also have a chit-chat session with another group of friends which are also scholarship holders. This is our first meeting together in one table to catch up with each other after 3 years. Sometimes I chat with my colleagues at Starbucks or Coffee Bean to share some personal experiences and funny stories.

c) Photo shooting session

We went to Chin Swee Temple for photo shooting in formal attire. It was just for our own purpose and fun. Like everyone says, the place is simply beautiful with serene scenery. I really enjoyed the photo shooting session not because I like my photos being taken but being around with a group of friends. I wouldn’t be here visiting if I am alone as I have no one to share with.

d) Movie session

This is the first time I went to watch a movie with around ten friends. We bought almost a row of seats!

e) A short trip

Since we all have off days and got nothing to do, we went to Mushroom Farm and Awana to walk around and had another round of photo shooting session.

f) Karaoke and pool session

I went for karaoke with different groups of friends in Genting. Don’t ask me to sing unless you need the rain. This is also my second time playing pool. I think I did improved since I’m no longer pocketing the wrong ball.

Tik Tok

It’s exactly a month away before I officially end my internship. Today, I just made a presentation to educate my colleagues about quality management and a few tips to remember things better in front of my superior. I don’t know whether it helps them or not but at least I did try my best. Anyway, the most important part is my internship is ending very soon. I had been feeling unwell for the past few days but nothing beats the feeling of happiness and freedom.

After I completed my internship and reports, I shall start visiting friends around. Can we have some gatherings? Anyone?

After A Long Hiatus Pt. One

I’m back from a long hiatus. I guess there is no one following my blog anymore. Currently, I’m doing my internship at Genting Malaysia. I just can’t wait for my internship to end in another one and a half month. The first four months of my internship was never a pleasant one. I have no friends up here. However, the worst part of my internship that kills me is not boredom or loneliness, but the psychology torture that my superior had me to endure. I really pray that I could pass my internship because I just happen to know that my superior has the history of making interns almost fail. I believe that if I managed to crawl out alive from this internship; I can survive in any companies. Thank God that for the remaining two months, some of the university friends I knew are interning in Genting Malaysia. Now I’m not so bored and lonely anymore. I guess I really deserved at least a good ending for my internship.

What am I going to do after my internship? First, I need to rush to finish up my internship report in a very short period time. Then, I will have to start planning for trips before my new semester starts. I have never been on a real vacation for a long time. I guess this is my last chance to really enjoy my holidays. To my fellow friends, I might plan trips to visit some of you.

Last few days, I went through a very big surprise that I never ever expected. However, it doesn’t really matter anymore as I will try to accept it with an open heart. While my internship is coming to the end, most of my university friends are preparing to graduate very soon but not before they complete their 3 month internship. See all of you at the convocation. This is the first time I need to bid farewell to so many people at the same time at one place. Good luck and all the best to everyone in their future undertakings!

Making The Comeback

Once again, I’m back!

This semester is very much better than previous one. At least there is more good news than bad ones. Apart of getting moderate yet unsatisfactory results for all my subjects and suffering from sickness during study break, there is a number of good events happen in my life.

Recently, I was given the opportunity to chair a local committee conference. Thanks to the supports I received from various sides, to me; I think we did a good job in making that event successful. The whole process was enriching and I do learn something out of it. I won’t be here without all the supports I gained and from my sincere heart; I would like to thank all of you.

After that, I’m lucky enough to be chosen to facilitate a national conference at the end of this year. The result was unexpected and I had a mixed feeling in receiving it. This is due to one of my best friend unable to get it. This is the first time that we’re unable to get something together because we are used to apply together and obtain it together as well.

Anyway, I was advised that it’s time for me to start mingling around outside of my usual gang. Another thing I wanted to tell is I’m not pretending or wanting for attention. I was contemplating to be part of it again.

Today, I just finished a paper and another five more papers to go. Wish me good luck to go through this tough examination period.

Here Goes Again!

Recently, a lot of things happened. I got a lot of comments from various people which are mostly negative.

I look like an uncle.

My English is not good. No slang. Pronunciation is also not very good.

My voice is “charming” which means attracting people to argue with me.

Basically, I have to admit that I do look like an uncle. I also don’t bother people calling me not good looking. My hair is messy. My face is populated with pimples and with unshaven facial hair. My dressing is outdated. Anyway, I am reluctant to spend much money in clothing which people perceive that better clothing can boost our confidence. I am comfortable in what I am wearing and that makes me confident too. I am who I am. For me, it should be substance over form.

Then, I also agreed that my English is not up to the par. I never boast how good my English is. I’m sure everyone knows that I can’t pronounce words properly. This weakness becomes more obvious when I am starting to argue or debate in something. I won’t blame my tongue for being short and inflexible. I always stuttered and out of words when speaking fast.

Again, I was never born as a leader. I don’t have the charisma to influence or inspire others with words like others do. I was never good in words. I learned to be a leader. Of course if we’re to choose between a naturally born leader and made-to-be leader, truthfully, we will always choose the naturally born leader because they have the charisma and the ability to convince. I tried my best to be outspoken and reach out to the others. The only chance I can show about my ability would be through my achievements. However, it always comes second in consideration. I don’t have the characteristics to be an influential person or leader.

Yes, I’m a very soft leader and do not have a principle. I was unable to make my own decision and always depend on diplomatic way like voting to come to a conclusion.

This is me. I’m just a joke. Thanks for all the comments. Even though it hurts, I will still lead my life as usual and give you a smile. Every person has the right to comment and I respect it. I'm not ending this post by "emo-ing". Nice to know what people really think about me. =)

Am I A Freak?

Two weeks of my holiday were spent at nowhere but at home. Yes, I spent my two weeks at home only. No “yum-cha” session or anything. Just myself, my parents and home. So, what I do at home for the last two weeks? Am I bored at home? Seriously I never really noticed that two weeks have passed. For these two weeks, I’m working at home. I’m trying to complete all my remaining tasks before I officially retired. Well, there is still much to be done. Anyway, I don’t feel like going anywhere or looking for someone to hang out with. I’m happy to see all my friends enjoying their holidays to the max by posting all their photos. I just don’t see myself in there. Oh my, am I becoming a freak? Most of my course mates are working temporarily in respective accounting firms during this semester break, getting themselves ready for practical by end of this year or early January 2011. All of them are busying talking about their experience on Facebook. Am I wasting my time now? For the time being, I think I use my time wisely enough to do my own work.

Just now, I just glance through all the pictures captured by my ex-teammates in a conference which is happening for three days. Then, I came to the photos where I was once standing on the stage presenting myself to the plenary to convince them that I’m suitable person to be in the AIESEC Malaysia MC 10/11. Of course I’m not tagged to the photos. Suddenly, all these mixed feelings are coming back to me. Sadness and disappointments are always there when I looked at it again. I guess I’ll never ever forget about it. It just stuck in my mind.

I must be lying that I didn’t miss those days when I was AIESEC USM VP 09/10 and all the hopes I harboured trying to get into AIESEC Malaysia MC 10/11. Well, we don’t always get what we wished for. I’m totally failure in my bid, if not; I’m already in that conference now. There is always something that I wish to do in a big scale but somehow either I fail in my efforts to get the platform that I want or there is no suitable platform for now.

What are my plans for the remaining weeks of my holiday? What are my plans for my next semester? What should I do? What am I going to do? Seriously, I don’t know. Now, I just need to wait for my semester results to come out in another 2 weeks time. I wonder how I’m going to fare this time around. Hope there is something good comes out from it.
