Craftafession!

True Confession....I am addicted to looking at craft blogs and copying their ideas.

I don't make everything I see but I write down a list in my phone of things I would one day like to make or do. Right now I really want to decorate my house in all things Fall and Halloween. But then I think that I should just focus on decorating the house (period).

Here are a few things that I have done lately:

Entryway table: I inherited a nice sofa table from my parents eons ago but never really loved it. When we moved I was going to sale it on craigslist or even give it away. But I decided to spray paint it to see if these DIYers had something going on that I could have. Remember my craft blog addiction? I figured if it didn't turn out I was going to give it away anyway so why not? Here is the finished product. Now, only if I had decor to go on it. I'm working on that. BTW-don't spray paint on a windy day. Jason said I'm not allowed to spray paint again-unless I remember to do it on the grass. Oops!

Yoga Bag: My sister is totally into yoga. Since I am a follower I decided to hop on the yoga bandwagon and do it once a week. I'm totally loving it (even though my calorie burn isn't as high on that day). But I couldn't show up to the gym without my own mat, let alone without a cute tote to carry, so I made a yoga bag. I wanted to make my sister one for her birthday so I decided to make me one first to make sure it turned out okay.

Rosette bracelet: I saw this on a blog and thought it was pretty cute. Chunky jewelry is in, right? It didn't turn out as cute as had hoped but I still wore it. I may have worn it on the day I went visiting teaching but who's judging. The people that I visit teach must think I'm fashion forward or just stuck in the 80s. I'll let them decide.

And believe it or not I am currently working on my Halloween costume. I'm all about dressing up but I've never made my costume so it's been quite the experience. Rather fun I might add but time consuming. You will have to wait until my Halloween post for that pic. :)
Gotta go and craft!

"Sometime We'll Understand"

I cannot stop thinking about those words that I heard last night. As I drove home from Lamb of God, another inspiring work by Rob Gardner, I balled the entire way home listening to the cd, in particular that song. Maybe because the whole cd is moving but I really think that I needed to hear this at this time in my life.

I hesitate to be so open but I think everyone who reads my blog I would tell this to and it helped me to write about it so here it goes. We are in the midst of trying to get pregnant again. We've gone through a few cycles and still we are not prego. Of course, it's a let down, but we are trying to still trek on with life. Staying busy sure does help and hugging the little one I already have helps too. Seeing him smile and laugh makes me smile.

I didn't think we would get pregnant this time the minute they did the insemination. Weird and so not me with all this negative thinking but I just knew. I knew that Heavenly Father needed to teach me a lesson. My life has been great for so long that I needed to be humbled. I know that our trial is not half as bad as many others in this world. Jason has a great job, we live in a wonderful house/neighborhood, we have such great, supportive family and friends. Our life is good-better than good! We just get to have a lot more fun getting pregnant than most people. :)

But sometimes I forget that I have it so good.

Here are the words to the song. It just brought me hope that one day I'll understand the lesson Heavenly Father wants me to learn right now.

Not now, but in the coming years, It may not be when we demand, We’ll read the meaning of our tears, And there, sometime, we’ll understand

Why what we long for most of all Eludes our open, pleading hand; Why ever silence meets our call. Somewhere, sometime, we’ll understand.

So trust in God through all thy days; Fear not, for He doth hold thy hand; Though dark thy way, still sing and praise, Sometime, sometime we’ll understand.

Sometime we’ll fall on bended knee, And feel there, graven on His hand; Sometime with tearless eyes we’ll see What, here, we could not understand.

I Hope They Call Me on a Mission

Wyatt can't wait to serve a mission.
After he has grown a foot or two that is.
You see, Wyatt loves church. He is obsessed. He is always talking about church. Whenever we drive by one (and they are on almost every corner around here), he points and says, "Church. Church. Church." A few weeks ago he picked up on the word Bishop (emphasis on the 'shop') and now says that about 50 times a day. Our Bishop is our backyard neighbor so Wyatt will open the shutters and say, "Bishop. Bishop. Bishop." Whenever he sees Jason in a tie or if I'm wearing a skirt he will ask if we are going to church. Or he can point out a temple in any picture and repeatedly say, "Tempo, tempo" until someone acknowledges that yes, it is indeed a temple.

He really does get excited to go to church. Sometimes I wonder during sacrament meeting why I even go as I'm pulling out every surprise/book in the bag. I feel like I bring a bag full of loot and wonder if I can leave anything at home but then remember I can't because we use EVERYTHING! No wonder Wyatt is a fan.

He loves looking in the crowd of strangers.
He loves his "class" (i.e. nursery). I would say that nursery drop off is still not his favorite thing in the world but they have never come to get us so it must be short lived.
He loves looking for Bishop on the stand.
He loves seeing his cousins at church.
He pretty much loves it all!

But I think his favorite thing about church is getting to dress like Daddy. Aren't they cute? (Thanks to The Matching Tie Guy)

He is going to be a great missionary.

Prankster

Jason and I have a little prankster on our hands.

A few weeks ago, Wyatt and I were playing outside in our little pool and, of course, the hose. As I've mentioned before that I thoroughly enjoy this because I can sit and read my book/magazine while he plays and not worry too much of falling into the deep end.

Little did I know my son is very mischievous.

I laid down on my towel on my stomach to let my back catch some rays and if you must know to rest my eyes. All of a sudden I feel a wet sensation on my back accompanied with laughter.

You guessed it! Wyatt had filled a bucket full of water and came and poured it on me. Where did he learn this? It's not something that I've taught him. I think he is just a jokester at heart. He kept doing it over and over and kept laughing so hard every time. I kept reacting because it would make him laugh harder and his laugh is about the cutest thing in this whole world so I didn't mind.

What a turkey!

Our Playroom

Although Jason just walked into the office a minute ago and said, "Our house is so junky," I finally have a room on the inside that I can show you. I'm not kidding you when our house is said junky. I'm sick of it and I told him that if he wants ANY Christmas parties going on at our house it better be done by then (I'm aiming for Christmas but I sure hope it happens sooner). A woman needs to decorate for Fall/Halloween!

I need to stop stalling.

Here are some pictures of our playroom. It's not quite what I had in mind....you know, a room that is Pottery Barn catalog worthy but it suits our fancy. It seems that IKEA got sick and threw up everywhere in the room but it's cute, simple, and we love it! What more could a kid/mom want out of a playroom? Plus, I love the fact that I can shut the door with toys everywhere and not have to clean it up when people come over because you know all the kids are going to go in there and get everything out anyway. I have to give credit where credit is due. Jason put together all of the IKEA items with Wyatt's help and Wyatt was the artist. I did everything else, including supervising.

I love our little "corners/areas:" Reading corner, art table, carpet time with magnets, music corner, games/art supplies in closet, and of course, the toy bins. We use it all!

Just recently I put in the little slide that has produced hours of fun so we can pretend we are at the park while it is still hotter than hot! My only question is why I didn't do this sooner? All that I need to add is a soft, comfy chair or a bean bag for the reading corner.
