Family Pics

So, our family pics were available to view online today. I'm not too crazy about how I looked in the Big family picture but our little family picture turned out decent. Wyatt is the most adorable kid ever! The photographer knew it because guess whose face ended up in the front of the album for everyone to see? Wyatt's!!

Look Who Can Sit Up!

Wyatt can!

He has been sitting on his own for a little while now. I'll have to post a better picture of him doing it but this will do for now. I couldn't wait to post this cute pic. I still have to keep a close eye on him but he loves the new view he has on life. If I am busy doing stuff I just stick two pillows by him just in case he decides he gets bored and wants a different view. I owe it all to Infant Storytime at the library. We had been practicing a lot but about a month ago (end of June...so he was 7 or so months...crazy how you lose track when I used to count weeks up until 12 weeks and write down everytime I fed him). Okay, off my tanget. Back to storytime. He loves it and wanted to sing all the songs, watch the bubbles, see other friends, that he started to sit up a lot while there. It was perfect! He is just growing and growing and pretty soon I will wonder where my little baby went.

It's so hot in AZ!

This past weekend we went up to Prescott to get out of the heat. That really is an understatement because it was 100 degrees up in the mountain. What?! It was crazy. We had lots of fun, so much fun I forgot to take pictures, even though it was hotter than usual. Hey, at least it beats 113 degrees, right?

In the meantime, I saw this on a friend's blog and laughed because all of these sayings are so true. I wanted to document them (just in case I ever forget how hot it is here....doubt it).

The birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.
The potatoes cook underground, and all you have to do to have lunch is to pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.
Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying hard-boiled eggs.
The cows are giving evaporated milk.
The trees are whistling for the dogs.
You no longer associate bridges (or rivers) with water.
You can say 113 degrees without fainting.
You eat hot chilies to cool your mouth off.
You can make instant sun tea.
You learn that a seat belt makes a pretty good branding iron.
The temperature drops below 95, you feel a bit chilly.
You've experienced condensation on your behind from the hot water in the toilet bowl.
You would give anything to be able to splash cold water on your face.
The 4 seasons are: tolerable, hot, really hot, and ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!
You discover that in July, it takes only 2 fingers to drive your car.
You discover that you can get a sunburn through your car window.
You notice the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.
Hot water now comes out of both taps.
It's noon in July, kids are on summer vacation, and not one person is out on the streets.
You actually burn your hand opening the car door.
You break a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m. before work.
No one would dream of putting vinyl upholstery in a car or not having air conditioning.
Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"
You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.
A sad Arizonan once prayed, "I wish it would rain - not so much for me, cuz I've seen it -- but for my 7-year-old."

Wyatt-7 1/2 months

Here is a little update on Wyatt:



-still sleeps 11-12 hours at night.

-takes 3 naps...one of them is usually 1 1/2-2 hours. Sometimes he will take 2 naps like that usually if he sleeps in a little in the morning.

-is starting to eat "stars" or Cheerios. The majority do not get in his mouth but he is practicing picking them up. He will get the pincer grasp soon.

-can roll over both ways. Doesn't always do it on cue. He hardly does back to tummy but he started that one in his crib. For a week or so I never saw him do it because he only did it in his crib (mind you while he was supposed to be going to sleep). He would cry once turned over and I'd have to go flip him over.

-He likes to sleep on his tummy. Once he started rolling over I think he has discovered that he can sleep there. Sometimes he does and other times he just cries. Depends on his mood I guess.

-can sit up. I have to stay by him or else he will crash and burn but he can sit for a long time without any help.

-no signs of crawling yet.....so I'll patiently await that one.

She's a little bit dangerous!

Today I was feeling daring.

I took Wyatt to the gym daycare. It wasn't my own gym where you have to make an appointment. It is to a gym that you don't have to make an appointment. You just show up and drop your kid off. I was so worried that he would cry and cry but he was an angel. Could he be over his stranger danger?

I REALLY, REALLY want to join.

Not only for the kids care but I forgot how much I love this gym. They seriously work you out harder than you thought possible. I only did a baseline workout but in 20 minutes of working out (warm up and instructions included) I burned 250 calories! It actually only took me 5:49 minutes to complete. Love it! In a way I was glad I didn't have to do the Workout of the Day (WOD) because it looked hard. This one girl kept swearing because she "couldn't" do it. One of the trainers said, "All I've heard you say this whole time is how you can't do it. If you say it then you won't be able to do. All right, you can't! What's the worst thing that could happen to you? Just do it!" Seriously, I love the trainers. They want you to succeed and believe in yourself.

Pretty please, Jason. With cherries and whipcream on top. Need to get rid of baby fat. (BTW...still no progress with the weight thing and Wyatt is almost 8 months old!). Don't even get me started. I don't feel like having a cry fest about my weight issues.

Next, the other daring/dangerous thing that I did today was dunk Wyatt in the pool. It was his first time and it was scary for me but I felt daring today. We did it multiple times. Not sure if he "loved" it but he did a great job holding his breath. It's so sad seeing their little eyes and face when they get out. It just about breaks my heart. He never cried after being dunk though. I was so proud. Maybe he will be the next Michael Phelps. I saw some friends at the pool whose kids are little fish. I asked them for pointers and they showed me some stuff I can work with Wyatt on. They had cute little songs to go with it. Now our daily pool adventures will be much more fun.

Maybe I should be more daring every day.

The Doons are Back in Town

This past weekend our friends came into town. It was so fun to see all of them. Adam and Lisa flew in from Indiana with their twins. Brendon came up from CA while Red Dog (Brent) and Janelle already live here in AZ. It was like the good ole days hanging out with them. Let me briefly explain (is that possible for me?) about this tight group.

While attending BYU, I lived in the Colony. Although my mom thought it looked like a POW camp it was the most fun place to live "South" of campus. I lived with several of my friends and we met these boys in our ward. They called themselves the Doons. Weird name I know but soon we found ourselves being called the Chicks. So, the Doons and the Chicks had plenty of fun filled days/nights/years at the Colony. These friends are the ones I keep in most contact with from my college days. Let's just say we know each other a little too well not too.

After I moved to AZ, Adam moved here awhile later to go to school. He ended up meeting Jason in his ward. It's kind of a funny story. Jason was EQP at the time and he asked Adam to be his counselor without even knowing who he was. Well, Adam and Jason became good friends. I think Jason and I started dating a little after they became friends. After a few months Jason and Adam actually became roommates. My worst nightmare! One of my best friends was roommates with my boyfriend. What kinds of things would Adam tell Jason? He told him probably a lot of lies but to this day Jason teases me about the college days in the Colony.

At first I hated the fact that Jason was becoming "better" friends with Adam (only because he is a guy) because as I quote, "he was MY friend first." Yes, I'm so selfish! But, now I am so glad that Jason is friends with Adam so when they come to town it's not weird hanging out with all of my old guy friends. We went to dinner both nights and they were all going to go to a late movie on Saturday night. Well, they came into the house to say hi as they were picking Jason up but ended up staying and talking. What a great night! Hed, Launa, Nikki, and Jenny- you were all missed!

We had a Family Olympics Night. One of the events was a tug of war. Every age group had to participate. We had two pregnant ladies join in on the fun. I have to do a little bragging...my team won! I think it was all Tiffany-not because she was pregnant just because she is strong. :) Oh, and my muscles did some work too. I don't work out for nothing.

This is my SIL, Emily. We both had babies a few days apart. Her little girl was about two months early though but Wyatt and Campbell are about the same size now. She was born maybe just a little more than a pound smaller than Wyatt. Just proves how small my little guy is. I love these pictures. Wyatt is trying to steal Campbell's binkie. He was successful and then was mad when we took it away. Funny thing is he always takes out his binkie and likes playing with the clip more than the binkie side. Go figure!

Can you imagine having twins? I can't. Angie, I'm not sure how you do it.

Newport Beach 2009

Every summer we go to Newport Beach with my family. This was Wyatt's first LONG road trip and first beach vacation. We had such a blast! Wyatt loved spending time with the grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins. He was always smiling...except when he was napping of course. I'll tell you-part of me wants to move to California because Wyatt slept like a champ for naps and bedtime. I was pleasantly surprised every day. My mom kept saying it was the sea air. We all had fun talking, hanging out, playing beach football, soaking in the rays of the sun, playing in the sand, going rollerblading, walks and runs on the boardwalk, bike rides, tennis, reading, eating to our hearts content, and games.

Wyatt did great in the car ride although he did have his moments. Well, actually, he didn't sleep much on the way there and I spent a lot of time playing with him in the back but he was pretty patient during the ride. On the way home he did much better. Plus, I didn't have to spend nearly as much time in the back seat. Can you tell someone had been crying?

We also got to spend a day at Disneyland. Wyatt was a trooper. He rode some rides, his favorites being the tram ride to the park and It's a Small World. He was a little scared of the dark rides but was enthralled with all the action the entire day. I was excited this year because last year I couldn't go on any of the really fun rides because I was pregnant so it was WAY more fun this year. Did you note the famous family tshirt? It was of Star Wars characters with some of my siblings faces on it. We all wore them to Disneyland. All the workers LOVED them and had a comment for us on almost every ride. Even Wyatt had a shirt. One passerby asked, "Are you guys a Star Wars club?"

A funny thing about Splash Mountain. I believe this is my first time on it because every time I have gone it was getting repaired, I had to leave early, pregnant, etc. So, this year my mom and I took some of the nieces and nephews. Little did I know that an adult had to be in front. My mom had already called the back. I was so nervous. It was so fun though. I think I got more wet on the ride then on the big hill at the end. You should see the picture. My mom and I are screaming for our lives and the kids are happy as can be. We took a picture of the screen so I'll post it when I get the picture from my mom.

Family pictures were also taken on the beach. Wyatt was a total cheeser with our little family photo but I forgot to suck in so not sure how that will turn out. I was so worried about how Wyatt was sitting and how my arm looked proping him up that I forgot to "think skinny." hehe He was super happy for our photos but for the big group photo was a crying mess. He even spit up all over!

Thanks, Mom and Hugh, for such a fun trip! We look forward to it every year.
