Dirk 4 Months

Our Dirky Turkey is 4 months! There haven't been any huge developments this month, but he's still the cutest happiest baby around!

- Stats: 14 lbs 9 ounces (28%), 26.5 inches tall (93%), 16.5 inch head circumference (55%). Size 3-6 month clothes, size 2 diapers
- Sleep: He was so close to me declaring him sleeping through the night! We started the month going from 10:30 to about 5:30 and then there was a week where he stretched it past 6 and I was doing a happy dance! But then the four-month sleep regression hit and it's been a rough few days! He actually woke up at 2:30, 4:30 and 6:30 one night this week, something he hasn't done since his first day home from the hospital! I hope it passes SOON! He's a good napper though and will sleep for a solid 2-3 hours in his swing in the morning and afternoon on the rare days when we don't have anywhere to be. Usually his naps get interrupted though so I'm really looking forward to school being out so we can be less scheduled and he can be more scheduled! He can go 3-4 hours between naps if he has to but he's not happy about it. He really likes to sleep every couple hours, which means he usually still takes that early evening nap.
- Eating: He's a champ. He eats every three hours but can go 4-5 if I need him to. His reflux is also getting better, although he's still on medication for it. He doesn't spit up very often, unless we hold him with an arm around his tummy ... our bad
- He's a social butterfly! He gives HUGE smiles to everyone who looks at him! He loves when people talk to him or engage him in any way. The only times he ever cries are when he's tired or when he hasn't gotten enough attention (this happens more often than I wish it did ... he's the fourth).
- He is starting to really engage with all of us. He follows his sisters with his eyes and is very aware of where we are. His vision has improved a lot - I can tell he can see me from several feet away
- He's learned how to grab things. This includes toys, people's fingers and hair :) He loves to chew on his blankets and burp rags when they're within his reach
- He also loves to suck on two of his fingers. He's perfectly content if he can get his pointer and middle fingers in his mouth. He'll take the pacifier if I give it to him but he still isn't the best at keeping it in.
- He kicks like crazy when he's laying on his back, a fact which annoys Reagan a lot. She's always right up in his grill and then complains when he kicks her!
- He's pretty close to rolling over but not quite there. He can get his head and chest up and can use his legs to scoot around on the blanket but he hasn't figured out how to get his arm out of the way of his body when he tries to roll over. It'll happen soon
- He loves baths and makes a giant mess kicking water everywhere! He's also fine with the pool, although not as happy in it as Reagan was
- He's finally learned to just deal with the carseat. He's gotten to the point where most of the time I can even leave him in it when I'm in a store. Thankfully, the school principal can stop looking at me with pity when Madison opens the door in the dropoff line and his screams reverberate around the entire school!
- When he's awake, he likes to be help upright and can hold himself up pretty well. But when it's time to sleep, he wants to be swaddled and cradled
- He definitely prefers to be held at all times. Unless he's sleeping in the swing, there isn't anywhere he's content to stay by himself for more than a few minutes
- He's doted on by all his sisters but mostly by Reagan. She is CONSTANTLY giving him hugs and kisses. She asks for him first thing every morning and is always telling me when he's crying. She has also tried to pull up my shirt when he cries, thinking that feeding him will make him happy. She loves to hold him, but doesn't like that he doesn't stay still in her arms. Madison tries to read to him when I set him down but he gets mad about being set down after a few minutes, which makes Madison think she's doing something he doesn't like.

Happy 4 months, little man!

Graduation Day

We have another graduate in the house!! McKinley was so excited for her preschool graduation!!Our little Mommy preschool was a lot of work but a lot of fun! And it definitely beat paying $125/month for something I knew I could do myself! I'm grateful for all the other moms who joined with me! McKinley loved every minute of it!

Since I planned and ran the graduation ceremony and then Dirk woke up fussy in the middle of it, I didn't get very many pictures! But my friend Jill sent me a couple of the group and I got the most important picture of McKinley in her cap and diploma :)

Our cute little graduates! I had them decorate their graduation caps with letter stickers

At the beginning of the ceremony, they marched in to Pomp and Circumstance and then sang the ABCs for the moms! It was so cute :) Then I called each one of them up to give them their diploma. While they were on the "stage" the told us what their favorite part of preschool was and then I had them shake hands with all their teachers. We compiled a binder throughout the year with special projects for each letter that they presented to their moms to take home! Then at the end, they all came back to the front to throw their caps!

 My big graduate!!
