Update with eating
This was a big deal to me because I see so many kids that hate to eat because of something like this and I think it kind ruins eating in the future. I am so glad that this has worked out. James and I can already tell that he is packing on the weight. He is more solid. Our scale doesn't work, so we will have to wait until mid march for the follow up visit at the Dr. office.
We have been giving him lots of table food (except tomatoes) and he gets so excited it is hilarious! I will have to record. I have also been increasing my fat intake (not in a healthy way either), I am going to start trying to be smarter about it.
More kids
Stairs are fun!
James loves to help Landon learn how to do stairs. Of course, the next day, when James is at work and I am trying to work, Landon can't stay away from them.

A post about PEE
Okay, sorry for that very long explanation. I finally woke James up to have him go and try to feed Landon some formula. He tried for about 20 minutes to a half hour. Not gonna happen. Then he brought them both to me, as I was trying to be non-existent in our room. I tried the bottle as well. It has a pretty good hole in the nipple so if I could get his mouth open it kind of trickled in. But then I started to feel like a bully and just nursed him. We saved the formula for rice cereal at lunch. Yuck. You have to understand, he never really did rice cereal (because it is NASTY), so this is kind of crappy for him right now.
After breakfast, we put the pee catcher back on and took showers and played and just waited. Usually he has a good diaper within the hour. Well, I don't know if the pee catcher just felt weird or what, but when I checked it was empty and so was the diaper. So, I decided to be bold. I got a bottle with apple juice, took his diaper off, grabbed a towel (in case he decided now was a good time to poop) and sat with him and held him while he drank apple juice and we watched Sesame Street. And what do you know, he peed and it stayed in the bag! So then, I had to figure out how to get it off, not spill it, get the diaper back on and so forth. I am happy to say that it went well and we were off to the lab. Before we left, the Dr. office called and said that his labs were within normal limits. Not sure how I feel about that... I guess I just have more questions. The appt for the Gastrologist is in the beginning of April and hopefully by then we can get some weight on and cancel it altogether.
Then we got a call from the local garage that we get our cars worked on and they said that the crack in the windshield is not going to let our car pass inspection. We have to have the whole windshield replaced. Apparently the rule is, if it goes up or down within an inch or so, it won't pass inspection. That sucks, we must have mentioned our tax return while in the car. And in about 5,000 miles, we will have to do the timing belt replacement which will be about $400-500. Sweet! I am just glad that things aren't worse. James's car is running great and that is a huge blessing.
I know that this is another long post with probably too much information, but hey this is our life.
Oh, one great thing that happened is Wednesday my old Young Women's teacher called me and ordered a baby blanket and tag-a-long that she needed to get by today. She lives in Utah and the shipping to get it there would have been $26. We decided to go with regular shipping about $5 something and it got there today anyways! How great is that?!

Then this afternoon was Landon's 9 month appt. Well, he gained... absolutely no weight! In the last 5 months, he has gained no weight. I am so ... I don't know what word... upset, feel like a failure, worried that it is something serious...
He gained another inch, and his head is still in the same percentage as always. But his weight is now off the chart. That is bad, right? The Dr. said that it is a pretty big deal. So instead of doing a finger prick in the office, we went to the lab to do a bunch of blood work (for a baby) and a urinalysis. I am sure you are wondering how they do a urinalysis for babies... Do they use the diaper and cut a chunk of it out and do some fancy science? No, my friends, it is so much more fun than that! Before we left the Dr.'s office, the nurse put this sack attached to a cup like thing (you know a cup like in mens sports) and the pee is supposed to just go inside and it is as simple as that! Well, the first one came right off and his diaper sucked up all the urine. They tried to put it back on at the lab, and told me that if it came off again, I would have to get another one from the Dr. because they didn't have any there. So, we went to Wegman's to meet James, get groceries, drop off a prescription for Landon's double ear infection and eat dinner (oh man, they have the most amazing pizza!). And while we were checking out, I went into the family rest room and changed Landon's diaper, and of course, it had come off again. So I called the Dr. office (so nice that they see patients until 7pm and we went and got another one. This nurse put it on much better than the earlier nurse did and she gave us an extra just in case. When we got home, Landon ate dinner and what did he do? He pooped! I just thought of the poop probably sitting on the plastic bag thing and looked forward to changing the diaper after dinner. Well, James changed the diaper because I was on the phone and I had to hang up immediately because James just pulled the empty container off. What the heck?! It looked like it had come off, and he just pulled it off. So I am trying to salvage what tiny amount of urine there was when I hear him yelling for the container. By the time I realized what was going on, Landon had stopped peeing all over the place. Nice. So, we have one bag left and we decided to try again in the morning. I am sure I am going to have interesting dreams tonight.
If the blood work and urinalysis come back clean, she wants us to see a Gastrologist (sp?). There could be a bigger problem we just don't know about and he might need surgery, blah, blah, blah (this made me relive the whole hernia surgery day in my mind). And while we are waiting for all of this to get figured out, she wants me to increase my fat intake for breastfeeding, give him cereal at least three times a day (we were doing vegetables, fruit, oatmeal and meat already) and really try the formula. (He absolutely will not take it)
She showed me his growth charts and showed me that his weight started to stop progressing 5 months ago. That is when I started having trouble with my milk. I have horrible allergies and when they act up, my allergy medicine kicks in stronger and I get dried up. If I drink insane amounts of water, it comes back, but of course I had to learn all of this the hard way. So, this is why I feel like a failure, like it is my fault...
Okay, so having given all the info, James is just boggled. He and I both feel like Landon weighs more all the time. (obviously he doesn't) And when ever people see him, they say how big he is. Just today some woman asked if he was like 14 months or something. She was shocked when we told her he is just 9 months old. I started crying in Wegmans and James was consoling me and and he said, "Kista, look at him, he is a fine, healthy, active, tall little boy. There is nothing wrong with him!" I guess, that I would prefer it to be my milk issues that are keeping him from gaining weight than some serious gastrointestinal problem, but then I don't know if I will ever get over this guilt I feel.
I seriously just want to cuddle him and never let him go and I know that hormonally I am over reacting, but that is just how I feel. I can't imagine how parents of really sick children feel.
Okay, I think that I have gotten most of this off my chest and feel a little better.

Finally up to date
Bath time has become interesting. When it started getting cold in the house, Landon would lean over in the bathtub to get his chest in the water. I guess he was too cold. So after a few baths of him doing that, we decided that I would take a bath with him each night so the water level could be higher. Well, just because you are in the tub with them does not mean that they still can't face dive. He did one night and when I reached to grab him, I slipped down and James was too far away to get him, so when I finally got him, he was under for long enough to freak out. But he didn't, he handled it amazingly. I was shocked. Now he dips his face in all the time.
He has a blast in the deeper water though, and of course it is extra fun to play in the tub with another person there too. We'll see how the transition happens when it gets warm again.
Sleeping at night has been great. (I might have posted this before so forgive me if I already did) The rule is, once we put him down for the night and the rail comes up, he doesn't come out until morning. This worked great until he got a cold. It was horrible. He cried for about 2 hours until I realized that his nose had been a little stuffy before bed. We got him about 2am and let him sleep with us. Big mistake. I slept horrible. I hate these little speed bumps it seems like one night can ruin months of good stuff! Well, we are back to him sleeping well, but it took some work again after the cold went away. Now, it is nap time that is a nightmare. I now come to one of the reasons for no posts in a while. He started having issues with naps and would not sleep unless I laid down with him or unless I held him the entire time. Once he hit the crib he would wake up and freak out, no matter how deeply he had just been sleeping. So I just took naps with him or held him. He is such a noise sensitive sleeper that I couldn't do anything! Very frustrating. I finally realized that because I was literally with him all day, I wasn't getting any down time and I decided that it needs to stop. So, I let him cry it out. Since he has been doing this during the night, it was familiar and didn't last too horribly long. I think he just knows, once that rail comes up, there isn't any point. I just started today, so hopefully it stays like that.
The other day, I had a little melt down. I don't sleep well at night because I am tossing and turning all night. My body seems to hurt more when I sleep than it does during the day. So after my melt down, James said that we need a new mattress. I was stressed out about getting one, but since we are going to get our tax return any day, it made it possible to get one. It was just delivered tonight and I am so excited to go to sleep tonight!!! The one thing that makes me sad is that we upgraded to a King size mattress and I made the duvet cover for our Queen bed.... I might be able to make it bigger to fit a King, but I am not sure yet. I know that this isn't a BIG deal, but since I made it, it has special meaning to me.
I know that there is more to post about, but for now, I think I am blogged out. I will try to post pics of the fireplace and my old duvet cover soon.
Oh, and a few recipes as well.

Walking with the walker toy thingy
You can't see all that great with this video, but this is Landon's first time actually walking with this thing. It looks like James is helping, but he is just making sure that Landon doesn't push it too far and fall down. Now when we put Landon in front of it, he goes very well by himself.
Good laughs
I don't know why this was so funny, but it kept him laughing a few days later too. Now when we do it, he just smiles, but no laughing. Oh well, at least we recorded it. Please excuse the bed head.
This outfit he is wearing was from James's mom. James said it was too girlie for him to wear. But after having so many dreary days, I decided we needed a little sunshine in the room. Because Landon is so slim and so tall, when he crawls in an outfit that has more room in the midsection, his knees go right up in there and he gets all tangled up. I hope that makes sense. Of course, the ones that fit him well, are already too short and he has only been 9 months for a week! I wanted him to wear them a little longer before we get into 12 month clothes, but even most of his pajamas are not long enough anymore. We go to the Dr. tomorrow for his check up, can't wait to get the measurements.
Can't wait until Daddy comes home!
Landon gets so excited when he hears the garage door open, then a few seconds later, he hears the car pull into the garage, then he hears James close the door to the car, and then.... the door opens! Every single noise gets him more and more excited! I would try and record it, but I am too busy making sure when he is jumping around the he doesn't hurt himself. The other day (yes, I am almost caught up), he couldn't stay away from the door. He crawled over there with his ball in hand even. He pulled himself up holding onto the door molding. Now when he crawls over there, he says Dadadadadadadada.
Snow storm #2
Who would have thought uneven floors would be so much fun!
You can see the snow falling in this one, if you watch the whole thing. It is still on the ground believe it or not, for how much there still is, it could have snowed yesterday, not a week and a half ago. Three days after this snow fall (about 12 inches), we got 6 more inches. Still haven't played in it...
