Fun Baby Stuff and the Facts of Life

We put the crib together the other night, thanks MOM! Can't wait to use it :)

I made a baby blanket for my little nephew, Brayson. I love how the name turned out! I am also making one to match for my little boy and my nephew that is due just a few days before me, Daniel. Daniel will have a blue Elephant and I am trying to make a monkey for my little boy... (Sorry, I tried uploading this picture several times and it just kept coming up vertical instead of horizontal... Don't know what the issue is)

So this is a picture of the monkey from the crib set that James's mom bought us. I am going to try and make my own version of it to put on my little boy's blanket... We shall see how it turns out. Lots of work involved with that...
Okay, so that Facts of Life... Well, my wonderful husband is NEVER sick... (I am the sick one) Well, of course, now that we have no insurance... James has bronchitis.
He has been sick since last week, with a low grade fever on and off. Loss of appetite. A cough that gets worse instead of better... Anyways, so last night, I called my mom (who has bronchitis right now) and asked her what made her go to the Dr., what were her symptoms? Pretty much the same exact symptoms as James. So, we made the decision to go to the Urgent Care. We went to one (I shall be nice and not name names), and they wanted to charge us all kinds of money or get us to buy a discount card... I won't go into details, but I was pretty perturbed. For those of you that don't know, insurance companies have contracts with Dr. offices and they get a VERY discounted rate. So self pay patients are bread and butter them. So when they not only want to charge me a ridiculous amount and then try to sell me some crap "discount card", I just want to call them out on the carpet and tell them what I really know and demand a discount.... But, poor James could barely sit up in his chair and it was 6:30pm. So we went to a different Urgent Care and their fee was $135.00 flat fee. No matter if he had other tests done or not. (The other place was $160.00 just for the visit and $275.00 if any tests or treatments were given.)
Anyways, so we went back and James got seen by a PA and he was so great. He had great personal skills. He was making small talk with James during the exam and asked James what he did for a living. Through his coughing James told him that he was unemployed. He then looked at me and said, "And I see that you are expecting here soon." I just laughed and told him that we would be okay, just don't let my husband die. He smiled and said, "Life insurance???" And I laughed and said, "Not anymore". So then after he finished with James's exam he said, "I'll be right back, I am going to see what I have in the closet." I was assuming cough drops and such, but he came back in with cough suppressant AND the antibiotics to treat bronchitis/pneumonia. I almost cried. I had no expectations other than going to get a prescription filled after we left (and who knows how much that would have been). He really went above and beyond for us.
So last night, James was almost able to sleep through the night without coughing. (It has been a rough couple of nights)
Okay, and then, I found out yesterday, that I might not have a job in a little over two weeks...(two months before the baby is due, not like anyone will hire me for two months) I know that we are going to be okay, I really am not stressing out over this(anymore), so you shouldn't either. Just the Facts of Life. I know that as long as James and I do what we are supposed to be doing in our lives and spiritually, we will be provided for. I am just glad that we are getting a tax refund soon. We will just have to live off of that.
If this sounds like I am bitter or complaining I really am not. I feel very peaceful about everything. Well... I have to admit, I HATE it when James gets sick! I would rather be sick than him. I just feel so helpless and don't know whether to call someone to give him a blessing or just let it run its course. Is this what it is going to feel like when my little one is sick too?
Baby updates:
I am in my seventh month and officially in my third trimester. This little boy has a favorite rib that he likes to kick. That is sooo fun! : ) And the last two nights, I THINK that he had the hiccups and I don't really think that he likes to have the hiccups, because he had a fit (or atleast it felt like he was having a fit)!
I am starting to be uncomfortable at night, and I have to have perfect posture when sitting(which I have never had all my life) otherwise I feel like I am suffocating. (One day at a time, right?) Other than that, I have no complaints. I still have to just laugh sometimes when he goes a little crazy. It is fun to watch my tummy receive SUPER kicks. Never a lack of entertainment.
The contractions are higher now, so I don't have to feel like I have to pee right after one all the time now. They feel different, but the same if that makes sense.
I get to do my glucose test this week. I am going Saturday morning. I am just going to have no expectations and get it over with. This is the last hurdle before delivery, right? : )
Okay, I think that is all of my updates...

Church Basketball stresses me out!

Okay, so this weekend was sorta busy... We sold our coffee table on Craig's list and James had a job fair to attend and then we took Tiger to his new home. (This one was the one for him) And then we ended the day at the church for the men's basketball league they just started up.
Well... I just have to say that my husband is 6'3 and pretty good. I used to go watch him play since we started dating and realized after a couple of years that I absolutely HATE going. I just don't understand how they can say a pray, start playing a game and then foul the crud out of each other, talk trash and so forth and then at the end, when you are sure there are about to be some strong words or punches, they all shake hands and grin like big idiots and tell each other good game. I JUST DON'T GET IT!!!! It drives me crazy! I seriously don't want take our children to watch their daddy play and see all of this behavior.
James said that he realized a long time ago that it just wasn't worth it to get aggressive because it brings out the worst in him. So he just goes literally for a fun work out and to shoot around with friends. And then the other guys have to start the trash talking or fouling...
I stopped going to watch about 3 years ago because I literally couldn't take it anymore. So, I thought that maybe this time, it would be okay. Well, trust me, it seemed to be a little worse now that I am pregnant. I was so stressed out that it took me a couple of hours to calm down after the game was over.... GROW UP BOYS! Your kids are there watching you throw your little fits and calling names. What do you think they take away from that????

Sad, sad story

Last night I got a phone call from my mom and brother at about the same time. My mom called first and just had enough time to tell me that the favorite kitten in the house had been killed. Then my other line beeped and I assumed it was my little sister, Melissa calling. She picked out this little kitten and the whole family fell in love with it. So I told my mom and switched over and it was my older brother, Javier. He told me what happened and he was so upset.
Apparently, they were sitting down to dinner and he said that there was the most horrible noise outside like a little kid was dying and he said that he thought it might be the cat. So he ran to the front window and saw two dogs mauling it. He ran outside and grabbed the dogs off, luckily they didn't attack him. From what he told me, I assumed that she had died right then. I asked if Melissa was okay and he said to call her. So I called her and she sobbed and sobbed and said that she had just died in her arms... Man, sometimes, it sucks to be so far away from family. There was literally nothing I could do or say. I just wanted to reach through the phone and hug them all while they mourned this loss.
The neighbor eventually came by and picked up her dogs. So sad... The whole family liked this kitten, and after having so many cats in our house, I never thought the entire family would ever like any cats together. I was wrong. I don't think that anyone wasn't affected by this horrible scene.

Interesting weekend...

Okay, so we put Tiger on Craig's List and found him a home. They came to pick him up on Saturday (Valentine's Day) and that was really hard for me. I've had a cat since I was about 10 years old. Then we went to the Library that we just found out was right near our house and became members and checked out movies, music, a computer game (didn't know they had computer software to check out), and several books. So, then we got home and checked the mail... and in our mail box was a letter from Geico. Well, good feedback from a job interview DOES NOT come in a letter. So, yeah, James didn't get the job. My heart just sank. I really didn't think that there would be any reason that he wouldn't get the job.
So, I was pretty bummed. Monday, I got some energy and started working on some blanket projects that I have needed to get working on for a while and realized that I needed some fabric. So we got in the car and drove into town to get that and my cell phone rang...
The people that took Tiger were calling saying that it wasn't going to work out. They had him for 1 1/2 days... That isn't enough time, but what can you do?
The husband said it is because he was popping all over the floor, well, I offered for them to take our litter (we use the crystals because it doesn't smell as bad as the cat litter box does). So, I don't know if he was doing that because he didn't have the litter that he was used to, or if it was because he was just really upset...
I just don't know what to do. I had another person ask for him on Craig's list, but I can't keep saying goodbye just to get him back a few days later...
I refuse to take him to the animal shelter! So, it was bitter sweet. He is back and I missed him terribly, but then, he is back and he still needs to find another home...
So, that is all of my updates. I know I didn't take a belly picture, but I actually slept a lot this weekend. Hopefully I am just having a growth spurt.

It is big, really...

Okay, so I think that I look bigger in the front facing picture, I just look blah! Please excuse the crazy hair, I didn't feel like straightening it and by the time I put in my curly hair product, it was a mess. What do you think, do I look bigger in the front facing pic, or the side one?
I was so excited that we got a warm weekend, I put on a knee length denim skirt and a short sleeved blouse for church. Thank you to all of those who have given and lent me maternity clothes!
I am pretty tired of being bundled up... We are going to have a warm week out here too. So nice to finally warm up a little. We have gotten a lot of stuff done around the house, but for some reason, we just can't seem to get those pansies planted in the ground... They have been so abused this winter!
So, James had his interview yesterday morning. We should know whether he got the job by Friday hopefully. I am more nervous about this then I was about the unemployment... Oh well, no matter what we will be okay.
We registered recently. It was really fun. James had fun zapping things with the gun at the store, I think he went a little overboard registering onsies, but at least he had fun.
My mom bought us a crib and James's mom bought us the bedding set. I am so excited. We are doing a jungle theme. It is really amazing what good deals you can find... I was looking at bedding sets for a couple of weeks, and the one that I liked was $180.00 and the one that James liked was just $10.00 less. But then I kept looking and I found a bedding set for $60.00 and it had everything that we both wanted!
I know that I am being silly having a theme with this economy, and there are so many more important things in life that having a nursery theme that your little one may or may not remember, but I have been waiting for this little guy to come along for so long...
Okay, that is about it. Hopefully the next post will have some fantastic news about James's job situation.

Another Burden Lifted

While I was driving to work this morning, James called and told me that he had some really good news and wanted me to guess what it was. I said, "You got a job?!" He laughed and said, "No, but keep guessing..." I couldn't think of anything else to guess so he just told me...
He got unemployment!!!!!!!!!!
I can't tell you what a relief this is to us! Especially since he then told me what was left in our checking account (very little), and we just received a $230.00 electric bill.
(The thermostat has been at 64 degrees all winter and we are still turning on the fireplace and bundling in blankets... It has just been so cold...)
Anyways, this is absolutely fantastic news! James has an interview on Monday with Geico. Keep your fingers crossed and say some prayers for us...
Let's see what else...
I have finally started having the back pains and rib pains from this little guy in my belly. I figured out how to wear the belly support band, and that seems to help lift him enough to not put so much strain on my back muscles. It is kind of funny, because he is all belly and on my left side, I have this stretch of skin that is literally nothing but skin. I don't know if that makes sense, just imagine the supports on a suspension bridge and my skin looks like on of those supports. It is pretty funny.
I have started getting baby gifts. That is super fun! I can't wait to have this nursery put together. We registered at Target, and that was fun too! James went a little crazy registering with the gun, boys and their toys! The funny thing is he registered for a ton of onsies. I love it!
I want to take some preggo pictures (nice ones) soon. Hopefully pretty soon, because my belly isn't too huge yet.
Okay, I am just rambling now. Will post some pics soon, and hopefully have good news about the Geico interview!
