Lovetits
Lovetits. With a name so simultaneously adorable and eye-opening, you know there's got to be something good behind it. Alice and Molly Goddard found time outside their Saint Martins workload to put their sisterly powers to work and created a label based around mesh tops with sequin shapes covering the lady lumps. You gotta love your tits to be directing eye traffic like that! Get your hands on these tops that are made to order over at the Lovetits blog.

Wozoco
A little bit ago, I picked up on a Korean shop from my blog buddy gaak o called Wozoco (not to be confused with the tasty Dutch apartment complex of the same name). They pretty much stick to the trend game and sell a lot of reinterpreted designs, but there's also quite a few hidden gems you won't see anywhere else. Now if I could just figure out how to order from this site!

Wear it out
My summer top drawer is pissing me off, so I'm attempting to fix that, and I found these shirts by Dimepiece I just ordered. I'm not into the typical "girl streetwear brand" mold, but I'm happy to see a lot of those brands are tossing cliches out the door, and doing what they want...although you'll still see plenty of fempowerment graphics like "Ain't no wifey" and "You're gonna get yours," NOT that I'm anti-speaking your mind, cause clearly I got the hots for Satan.

You stepped on the flowers
Pretty cool AA! To think you came from jersey t-shirts to this is pretty major. I'm not quick to be sold on floral prints, but 3D flowers I can run my fingers across all day...easily amused.

Lyrically I'm supposed to represent
My new Yokoo sweatshirt came today, and being that I'm hiding from the chilly dampness outside tonight, I threw that thing right on! I've been a Yokoo fan and customer since the early, early days when it was just scarves and I get so excited every time I see her coming up with new products. This is from her new GYM line (Gratuitous Yokoo Miscellanea) and available in limited quantities. You can also get one that says "gyrls" instead of boys like the biggie lyric. GO GIT IT!!

Way out
I'm watching the mail for this vintage Comme top I got on ebay the other day. I dig the huge type on the front, plus I tend to like shirts with messages that leave a big "?" on people's faces! The zippered front, 3/4 sleeves and collar are very 90s but I think it makes the top much more interesting than if it were a simple jumper.

Ghostly
I picked up this long black lace top at H&M a few weeks ago and it's hard to resist not wearing it all the time now. It adds a nice textural element to otherwise sort of boring all black daily wear. I'm not even much of a lace kind of girl but I'm a sucker for long looser tops so it won me over anyway. I found the quartz pendant at this little store in chinatown that carried crystal paperweights and hemotite rings among other things.

When the cat is away, the mice will play
I'm more of a dog person than a cat person, but I still think cats are cute and fun to watch. Bernhard Willhelm's cat dress from last season was a fave of mine, although I never got my hands on it. Browsing Zero + Maria Cornejo's Fall 09 arrivals in her online store, I came across several tops and dresses done in a custom feline design from an original photo by Cornejo. The dark, fuzzy print makes the pieces very wearable and I love them all!

Hey look, I'm a bat!

You know what? I'm getting sick of pants. I just want to wear this huge batwing dress by Mundi and call it a day and then run around at night with my arms out like a bat. It's on sale right now at Welcome Hunters along with some other really sweet pieces.

Half & Half
I love the concept of these shirts from blackmarketbaby. The top half is black rayon jersey and the bottom is sheer black mesh. Feel half naked without looking half naked!

A host of deities across the sky

Vena Cava was on Gilt today and I caved in and bought this "demon blouse." It's semi sheer which I love and the words covering it are snippets from an Egyptian glossary of mythology. I've always been fascinated with ancient Egyptian culture, and I think it's awesome that it inspired Vena Cava's spring 09 collection. The designers filtered just the right amount of inspiration from pyramids and King Tut to craft a beautiful range of pieces.

Riding hood
I wandered into Free People the other day and was pleasantly surprised to spot this convertible tee. You can never tell how these things work by just seeing them on the hanger so I had to try it on. I was sold on the possibilities so I brought it home in heather gray. Being mildly ADD about things, I'm stoked on having a tee I can change around 3 times in one night if I want to.

Let the wind blow

I picked up the summer catalog today at UO and just stared at the radness that is this Silence & Noise top. It reminds me a lot of Complex Geometries with the built-in cowl neck hood, except it's made of a semi-sheer lightweight fabric. From the catalog image (above) it looks white but it's actually a grey color (bummer cause I'd prefer it in white), and in black it looks slightly witchy...in a good way of course. I think ordering a size or two up would give the exaggerated cowl look like in the catalog shot.

Loose Strings
Likely inspired by our collective DIY efforts out there, Urban has a couple of tanks that incorporate knit "chains" or strings and I'm pretty into it. Both are by Silence & Noise. That makes two posts in a row about strappy/stringy tops, but I can still go for a plain loose tee any day.

What's new UO?
Thanks for keeping me interested Urban. You make me sleepy from time to time as ALL the fast fashion chains do, but summer is looking pretty rad to me. I'm feeling the tunic/top pieces that are part business as usual, part party town.

From the past

(left, 3.1 Phillip Lim; right, Proenza Schouler)
Tell me this is NOT a coincidence. Two of my favorite looks from spring 09 (above) look like they have a cousin in the form of an 80s scalloped sequin top. After an intense final showdown, I won it on ebay the other night. Fashion fate?

I sort of see a bit of Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures in this top too. It's always great to find something vintage that reminds you of awesome things whenever you wear it. Hopefully I will look half as killer as this chick.

The Spot
I've always had a love/hate with polka dots. When Comme/H&M mania hit last year, it almost had me, but in the end it wasn't the dots I was attracted to (just the idea of acquiring some CDG on the cheap). Then I spotted this CTRL top recently (get it, spotted?) and I think it would be perfect for the summer with its loose fit. Coincidentally Who What Wear just did a trend report on polka dots, with Erin pulling off a rad spotted Lanvin blouse.
