Trip to Arizona & Mexico

Ok - so 9 months is a little long for not updating our blog. I'm sorry. The three kids tend to keep me a little busy. :)

We recently took a trip to Arizona and Mexico for Doug's brother's (Randy) wedding reception. The kids had so much fun exploring down in Mexico and getting to do all the things that Doug did as a child. They got to ride on the motorcycle, ride horses, and then take a train ride to the coast. The train ride we took was a 5 hour drive to get to Creel, Chihuahua and then a 7.5 hour train ride to El Fuerte, Chihuahua. There was one stop at the Copper Canyon where the Tarahumara Indian Tribe lives and you can purchase gifts that they make. It was a really fun trip, exhausting, but fun. I think it was a real eye opener for Elizabeth. The kids loved the train.

The Story of Katelynn

Things are finally starting to settle down now that Katelynn is over 2 weeks old. Here is our little story of our precious addition to our family. I was induced on Sunday, June 13th. I was called into the hospital at 5:30am. I was checked in by 6:30 and had the

IV in and the Oxytocin going at 6:50. The doctor came in and broke my water at 7:45 and then the labor started. The pain wasn't too bad, but it was even better once I got the epidural in. I am always afraid of getting the IV and the epidural (that is what scares me the most about labor), but this was the easiest and best epidural I have had. Doug said I didn't even squeeze his hand hard this time. :) I was able to actually relax during labor and kept dozing off...my other labors I shook so bad that I couldn't relax. The doctor came in at 12:40 and said "okay - ready to push?" I thought he was joking -but he wasn't. It took a total of 8 minutes once I started pushing. The baby was turned face up and so the doctor had to turn her - then the cord got wrapped around her neck (this happened with Andrew too). When she came out she was really white and so they had the NICU team come and take a look at her. I really didn't get to see her much before they took her to the NICU.

She was in the NICU for 2 days. I felt so bad for her because she had all this equipment hooked up to her and IVs in her (head, arm, foot). She was a trooper though and was a fighter. Everything was okay - she had low oxygen so they kept a close eye on her. I finally got to hold my baby girl about 8 hours after she was born...this was really hard for me; it felt like I was missing something until I could hold her. I tried to remain strong - but I broke down a couple times. I was released from the hospital Tuesday morning and Katelynn was able to come home that afternoon.

Since we have been home Katelynn has been a wonderful baby. She is eating great and sleeps better than the other kids...which I love! Elizabeth and Andrew love her so much...it's fun to watch them with her. Andrew likes to lay his head next to her and say "Hi Baby" and is always concerned when she cries. Every morning he asks where Baby Kakake is. Elizabeth loves to help with Katelynn. She always wants to hold her and help give her a bath and feed her. They have both been so good with her.

Our addition to our family is truly a blessing. :) We all love her and can't wait for all of you to meet her.

Andrew Turns 2!

It's hard to believe that two years ago Andrew came into this world for us all to love. He has such a fun personality! Watching him grow over the last two years has been a blast and a headache at the same time. :) He is definitely in the "terrible twos" stage...which is hard for me, but I really do enjoy watching how his mind works. He has so much fun with his big sister and I think he will be a great big brother too. He loves trains, trucks, and balls. He got a new train set from my parents for his birthday and it was hard to get him away from it. He was searching for batteries to put in it, but we didn't have the right size and so he had to wait until the next day to have it really work. He was so excited when we go the batteries!!! It was really cute. He takes the train with him everywhere. Andrew would probably take the track too if I would let him.

We had Lindsay and Stephen over to help us celebrate his birthday. He loved to be sung to and made us do it about three or four times just so he could blow out the candles. I think he is going to be like Doug with fire...I better watch out and always have a fire extinguisher handy. :)

On Saturday before his birthday we went to the Dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point and he had a blast!

Updates on the Family

I didn't realize it has been almost 2 months since I have posted anything. I guess time got away from me. I am now in my 36th week of pregnancy and I am ready for this little one to join our family already. Doug said I am in the nesting period because I am freaking out that we are not ready and that the closets need to be reorganized and the house is driving me crazy. :) Nothing has changed from my everyday thinking...except maybe it has intensified. At the doctor's today I was dilated to a 1 and 50% effaced. I will be induced either the 13th or 14th of June if I have not had the baby yet. I really don't intend on being induced though; I plan on her coming before then.


Elizabeth is finishing her first year of preschool this next week and is excited for the summer. I don't know how I am going to keep her busy though! :) Andrew is turning 2 on Monday and definitely has the "terrible twos". He knows he can run from me right now and I can't catch him or reach him so he gets away. He thinks it is funny...me not so much.



Doug is training for the Ragnar Relay race that is on June 18th and 19th (no pressure to have the baby before then). He has been working hard to get all his running in so he can be ready for this 24 hour run.

Fun Filled Day

Yesterday Doug took the day off from work so we could have fun as a family. We took the kids to the Hogle Zoo and then we walked around Temple Square and the Church History Museum. The kids seem to have a really good time. They enjoyed seeing all the animals and being outside at the zoo. Andrew was not happy when it was time to get off the Carousel and the Train...he was pretty loud with his screaming. At least people understood and they just laughed. :)

Temple Square was nice and quiet and Elizabeth loved to see the temple (sounds like a song I know). She enjoyed the reflection pool out in front and loved seeing the Christus. We were all pretty worn out by the time we got home. I even fell asleep along with the kids on the drive back. Here are some pictures of our fun day.

Elizabeth's First Talk

This is Elizabeth's first talk given in Primary. She did such a good job! She basically had it memorized. We had her redo it at home so we could video it.

Most of us have been sick for the last two weeks so there hasn't been much to blog about...sorry it has been so boring. We are all starting to feel better and are able to get out of the house a little more - now if we can just get some more sleep! Anyways, I thought I would write what each of us has been up to lately.

Doug - I couldn't be more proud of Doug right now. As most of you may know he has had some back problems in the last year and he is doing so much better now! He took the initiative to change is lifestyle and better his health so he could be able to play with the kids and be a wonderful husband. He has lost over 60 pounds and looks amazing! He up to running 10 miles now and is hoping to maybe do a half marathon sometime. He is also interested in training for triathlons - I support him in all he does. He has been such a great example for me! I love him dearly and I know the kids love him too! They get so excited when he gets home from work every day.

Heather - So there isn't much to what I have been up to besides carrying/growing a baby, taking care of the kids, and keeping the house from driving me insane. :) I am now 25 weeks pregnant and I am able to finally feel and see the baby kick more. I always love this stage because you really know there is something growing inside and not just fat. LOL. I am taking a sewing class at church and I am almost done making a maternity skirt so I have something new to wear to church! I am still working at Children's Place, but not very much. I also still do my Promotional Printing business from home which can be challenging when the kids decide to scream while I am trying to work. But life is good - it would be even better if it would just warm up here so we can play outside!

Elizabeth - She is such a social butterfly! When she wasn't able to go to church or school she was very upset because her friends and teachers would miss her. She is still in preschool and loves going every time. She always comes home with the best crafts that she got to work on and her weekly Alphabet that she has learned. She loves her teacher Miss Carol and all her friends there. She is also in Music Class that one of our friends puts on and has a blast. She is very musically inclined and I can't wait until she can learn an instrument and have fun with it. She loves to sing and dance around the house and listen to music.

Andrew - He is quite the little boy! He enjoys torturing Elizabeth every chance he can get. He is almost 2 now and it shows. Andrew is into every sport that has a ball and he loves trucks and cars. It is so fun to watch how his mind works. I just don't understand his fascination with dumping ALL the books off the bookshelf 3 times a day! He is our snuggler and our goober. He has been on this Buzz Lightyear kick for the past 2 months now. The Toy Story movies are running in their room non-stop, even at night. He is finally starting to talk more, but he still has a ways to go. He loves his sister, even though he tortures her, and is always giving her hugs. They have a special bond.

So...that is what is going on here with the Robinsons. I will try and take some pictures and get them posted next time.
