Try to eat something for every letter of the alphabet this summer.
Then doodle, draw or write a list of the things you ate from A to Z.

Or maybe you would rather draw what you ate for breakfast or
lunch today in your doodle book. . .
Or maybe you could copy down a favorite recipe into your
doodle book, and then help Mom make it.

Find a Christmas Ee

Does this look familiar?
Well, it should because you all made this nativity set for me
last Christmas. Pieces of it were on this very blog during
last December along with words of "The Nativity Song".
So sing that song to find the word-of-today!

Reading E's

  You might enjoy an "Eyewitness Book" by DK Publishing
for the letter "E". Actually you could probably find one of
 these oversize non-fiction books for any letter of the alphabet
from "A-W" because there are "Eyewitness Books" on Africa,
animals, baseball, boats, castles, cowboys, dinosaurs, earth,
elephants, flags, gorillas, horses, insects, jungle, knights, light,
moon, music, Nascar!, ocean, Olympics, pirates, pyramids,
robots, rocks, sharks, shells, trains, trees, universe, volcanoes,
weather, and  the Wild West.

Of course, you could also read a book about elephants like
Babar, or Elmer the colorful elephant or my favorite
elephant family in "Five Minutes Peace" by Jill Murphy.

You could read a book about eggs or Easter . . .
or a book by Ed Emberley or a book by
 my favorite "E" artist and author, Lois Ehlert.

You might like a book about Encyclopedia Brown,
Eloise, or "Ella Enchanted" by Gail Carson Levine.
And I suppose you could even read an E-book on  your electronic device.

But I think you might like reading a book I bought
once upon a time when I was 12 years old! In
fact I still own my copy of "101 Elephant Jokes".
You're welcome to read it the next time you visit.

Ee is for Emerald
What is an emerald?
A. A lovely shade of green
B. The nickname of Ireland
C. A pretty green gemstone
D. The name of a Princess cruise ship
One of the answers to this question is in the photo if you look closely
next to Grandpa's head. However, all the answers are actually right.
Emerald is a name of green and because Ireland is so green it is
called the Emerald Isle. An emerald is also a pretty green gemstone.

E is for elves who build toys for the big day

Some families read a book called "The Elf on the Shelf" and then hide an elf around their house during December. You can do the same thing with any sort of elf toy or other Christmas stuffed animal.

Easy Eggshell "E"

If you have enough energy, look in your summer sack for the upper-case E paper plate and the little baggie holding a lower-case e and some colorful crushed eggshells. Ask your Mom to help you cover a section of the letter E with glue. Then stick on the eggshells. Continue until the entire E is covered! If it is easier, you can crush your own clean, dry plain white eggshells between two pieces of waxed paper and then paint them with water colors after you have glued them onto the letter E. All those eggshells have probably made you hungry for an egg, right? Would you like to eat a boiled, fried, scrambled, or deviled egg? Or how about hard-boiled egg mice? If eggs sound ekky to you, maybe you will find something tastier in "Eating the Alphabet" by Lois Ehlert.

Ee is for Emma

Although your Great-Great-Grandpa Corbett thought her name was Emma Lee, this post is not about your Aunty Em. Emma is a character in the book, "Emma's Christmas" by Irene Trivas. Emma is a farmer's daughter who is being wooed by a prince. She isn't all that thrilled at first, so he tries to win her over by sending gifts. On the first day of Christmas he sends a partridge in a pear tree . . . on the second day of Christmas, two turtle doves and another partridge in another pear tree . . . on the third day of Christmas, three French hens, two more turtle doves and a third partridge in a third pear tree . . . and so on and so forth for 12 days. What Emma does with all these gifts and the prince brings this book to an enchanting end.

My Christmas book basket doesn't look very empty yet even after Grandpa and I have opened five books so far. How is your Christmas tree pillow looking? I hope you enjoy a

Ee is for Elephant

This is a picture (or board) book about a colorful patchwork elephant named Elmer. Because he is no ordinary elephant, it is a story of being unique. Elmer the elephant inspired me to have the first ever coloring contest on this blog. Please color, paint and/or decorate your elephant in an extraordinary way and you could win a fabulous prize!
