I feel like my cancer journey has gone pretty smoothly, not too many detours until this week.
Tuesday, my chemo day didn't go as expected. My lab blood work was really low, so I was unable to do all 3 chemos as expected. I saw this as a set back to my progression. I saw it as making my journey longer.
The doctor gave me more antiviral, anti.... And something else in hopes of boosting my immunity back up. He suggested voiding crowds, church, stores and my children the best I could.
I also talked with the doctor about a few problems I have been having.
One is the no reflexes in my legs. That will not come back but with time I can work through it, and hopefully will be able to run again soon!
Another problem I've been having is hearing. We were told in the beginning that this could happen. I guess I just didn't realize how soon and how bad it would be.
The audiologist told us I have significant hearing loss in both ears and that I would be a good candidate for hearing aids.
I was crushed, oh wait I still am.
It hit me harder than expected.
I know nothing is wrong with having hearing aids, I just feel like I was pushed down, that I had something taken away from me. That cancer got a point, it's on the scoreboard now. I'm no longer dominating.
Now here is the question... Do I continue doing the chemo, knowing my hearing loss will get worse or do I stop fighting cancer to preserve what hearing I have left?
All these answers will be decided soon. Until then, I will continue on my journey and go over the speed bumps as they come.
"Don't let your heart become hard. Tough times can test us and sometimes make us question God and His ways. Always reach out and strive to become closer to Him. He does hear you, He does care, and He does answer your prayers. Be open to receiving His answer as it may come in a form you least expect"
