The Hoover Dam

On our way back from Utah we stopped by the Hoover Dam for a quick visit.  It was 109 degrees that day.  We will have to go back another time when the weather is a little cooler.  It was so hot!!  However, it was definitely worth the stop.  It was breathtaking.

Geoff's brother and his wife were kind enough to let us take our nephew Luke for a few weeks.  He was such a pleasure to have around.  He is a very polite and calm natured kid, very similar to Kaden. 

Geoff was in a hurry to get home.  He gave us a rushed tour.  I couldn't complain, I was just thankful that I actually got him to stop.

This picture makes me smile.  The night before we had stayed at Geoff parents home in Washington, UT.  Kaden accidentally hit Luke in the mouth with a croquet mallet.   Originally Kaden was trying to lift Luke up to touch the statue.  I told the boys I didn't want Luke to get hurt again.  Naturally their response was to put Luke down and immediately try to lift Kaden up in his place.  I guess I should have said I didn't want anyone to get hurt. :)




Before we left we stopped at the overlook bridge next to the highway.  Kaden got a bloody nose and I didn't have anything to give him until we got back to the car. 

Here is the view from the overlook bridge.  You really are missing out on a lot if you don't drive in to see it close up.  I thought it was awesome and will definitely be stopping by for a longer visit sometime in the future.

Kaylee's Baptism

We decided to baptize Kaylee in Utah so that we could have all of our family there.  THANKS to Darin and Haylee for working out the details so we could have it at their stake center.  We had everyone from both families there except for my sister Lina and Geoff's brother Tom.  It was so great to have both familes together in one place! It was a great day and one I am sure Kaylee will never forget.  Uncle Brandon and Aunt Olivia gave great talks.  THANK YOU Olivia and Brandon!

Everyone in my family except for Lina.  She had recently started a new job and couldn't take time off.

We thought we had all of the Gunnerson grand kids in this picture.  In fact I had printed and framed it before we realized that Jacob was missing from it.  Maybe we can photoshop him in somehow. :)



Here are all of the grand kids on the Dew side.  This was our first time seeing my nephew Silas in person.



After the baptism we went to La Frontera with the Dew side.  This ended up being the only night we could get everyone together while Geoff was in town.  Geoff's side of the family went to Chuck-A-Rama.  We wish we could have been with both families.

We served cake and ice cream for the refreshments.  Things didn't exactly end up the way I planned.  I had round table cloths and centerpieces but I wasn't able to use them.  There were some baptisms before us and when we arrived they were still in the gym eating their refreshments.  We didn't have time to set up the tables  after Kaylee's baptism.  I was also going to fill the centerpiece cups with Hershey kisses and sprinkle some on the tables.  It may not have turned out how I had envisioned it, but Kaylee was happy and that was all that really mattered.



Uncle Chris showed up in uniform. We are so proud to have an uncle in the military. 

                         

4th of July

Geoff took the kids boating on the 4th of July.  I wish I could have gone too but I wasn't feeling very well that day so I stayed home to rest.  My awesome sister-in-law Haylee took these pictures for me.  THANK YOU HAYLEE!! They ended up getting to the lake later than they planned and weren't able to make it home in time for the fireworks. 

I met up with my family for a BBQ at my brother's house in Riverton.  Thanks to my parents

we had a delicious steak dinner.  We played a card game and then headed over to Riverton Park for

the fireworks.  This is my niece Brooklyn.  I ADORE her as I do all of my nieces and nephews.

Summer Vacation Part VI- Lagoon

I forgot how exciting it is to go to Lagoon for kids.  Kaden is almost always calm natured but the night before we went to Lagoon he was super hyper.  I didn't know if he was even going to be able to sleep that night. :)  The kids were all excited in the car on the way there.

Here they are ready to go in!  It ended up being a perfect day for Lagoon.  The weather was nice and we were able to get on most of the rides with little or no wait.  In fact the kids went on almost all of the rides in the park at least once.

They loved the Wild Rapids ride.  They went on this one a few times.



We had BBQ food for lunch and it was sooo good!!



Another one of their favorite rides was the Log Flume.



The boys were brave and went on Wicked! 



At the end of the night we all shared some delicious funnel cake.  It was SO good!!

Summer Vacation Part V- Swimming with Cousins

One day we met up with my sister, sister-in-law, nephew, and neices at the new Herriman Rec Center.  My niece also brought her good friend, Grace. The kids all had fun.

                                     

A year ago Kaylee wouldn't get into our swimming pool without

a life jacket on.  Now she is a little dare devil in the pool. :)

There is a house in Herriman that was built to look like the house in the movie "UP".   Somebody lives in it now so I took a quick picture of my sister and the kids and then we were off.

Another day we met up with a couple of my sister-in-laws on the Gunnerson side of the family.

My sister-in-law Haylee was kind enough to invite us to go swimming at her Grandpa's pool.  It ended up being a short but fun visit.  Her AC unit needed to be repaired and the repair men could only come during our scheduled pool/play date.  We all understood because being without AC in July is miserable!  After Haylee left, Heather and I took the kids to the Bountiful Rec Center. The kids had a lot of fun with their cousins.
