Dana Tanamachi :: by hand with chalk

I'm totally blown away buy the skill and discipline of Dana Tanamachi. I used to do huge chalk murals on the streets at festivals and I know how tedious it can be but I can only imagine how much more steady you would have to be to do it all in typography!

The future of Type...

...is NOW! Type has always been one of the most flexible elements of design, what can we do with our words?  Showing emotion, and conceptuality through words is a way for us to communicate on a whole different level. As most of us learn in our foundation design curriculum, to show emotion through typography is to almost speak in a different language. These beautiful pieces show us just that and more, Designer Keetra Dean Dixon, brings us into the future of type with her 3d explorations of shape and color. Her portfolio is very impressive and aw inspiring!

handmade helvetica :: Kasper Ledet

With all the hoopla going on this year with the awsome documentary film: "helvetica", i thought it was only appropriate to post this awsome type design by graphic designer and illustrator Kasper Ledet out of Copenhagen, Denmark. I thought it was quite impressive that this handmade type based on Helvetica, was made by printing a pattern on sticker sheets and cutting out the letters...awsome!

transitions

My posts have been few and far between due to our beginning phases of moving into our new house. what a huge transition for jay and I! My feelings on buying a house are very mixed but ultimately I feel like it's given us a chance to start fresh with our lives and even with our emotions. We know that this will be one of the biggest transitions in our lives and we want to enjoy every second of it, even though it may be stressful at times we feel so blessed to have the opportunity.

Speaking of transitions I've recently received an email from the very talented Fabien Barrel about his new transition into home design. He has morphed his beautiful typography and imagery into wall deacals and other rich home elements...simply stunning.
