Year001 (Year One)

 

Year001 is an emerging HC/Punk Rock trio from California's East Bay, blending elements of skate punk, post-hardcore, ska, and '90s rock. Formed in late 2023, the band comprises Justin King (vocals/guitar), Nick Volkart (bass/vocals), and drummer Matt McDonald. Their music is characterized by raw, dual-vocal dynamics and a high-energy sound that resonates with fans of bands like Hot Water Music, The Lawrence Arms, and Iron Chic.

In May 2025, Year001 released their debut album, The Sound of Our Voice, which features tracks like “Chances” and “East Bay Punk”. The album delivers a message of optimism and self-reflection, blending punk rock and post-hardcore sounds.
