City Saints

City Saints is a melodic street punk rock'n'roll band from Göteborg, Sweden. City Saints might be a relative new band, but the members are no rookies. For nearly twenty years drummer Magnus Jonsson has been a driving force in street punk veterans Perkele, whose significance in mainland Europe is undeniable. Teaming up with Stefan Johansson, drummer of Chillihounds and former lead singer of Aggressive, the two began discussing a parallel high energy punk rock outfit some fifteen years ago. At last, in the year of 2012, with ten albums, numerous EP:s, singles and tours between them, the two men finally found time to work together. The group was soon joined by remaining members of Chillihounds, bass guitarist Carl Linnaeus and guitar player Gabriel Aadland added an imported part to City Saints tight but loose vibe. Having nurtured a lifelong influence in the attack of Motörheads forceful rock’n’roll, Cock Sparrers brilliant melodies, Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers stripped down rawness, Ramones revved up energy and Sex Pistols stiff upper lip, the musical direction of City Saints is not difficult to pinpoint. What started as a drunken dream has now materialized into a furious punk rock machine that blends Oi! and early Rock'N'Roll. City Saints is one of the most exciting bands that has emerged from the punk scene in Gothenburg. The city’s working class mentality is summed up in the group’s slogan: “Kicking ass for the working class.”Second album by City Saints „Blue Collar Sons" is the finished masterpiece: 12 dirty rockin’ tracks, full of heartfelt passion and honest working class hooligan attitude, with English lyrics and oldfashioned 70's riffs. Drivin’, catchy and wonderful simple. No experiments here. Just the good old hard knockin’ streetwise stuff. The band itself describes their formula as "Classic rock and roll and high energy punk rock", roaring R’n’R basics packed quite snappy in a hard'n'angry Bootboy update. Imagine a sweaty jam session of Rose Tattoo and Sham 69, Power Streetpunk'n'roll at it's best. Catchy and gritty as hell, dammit!!
