DHPP Sudah Pandai Takfir

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — PAS’ non-Muslim wing denounced today the four Muslims who mounted a court challenge to stop the Islamist party president from pushing to amend Shariah law in Parliament that will enable the roll-out of the controversial Islamic penal code in Kelantan.

Balachandran GK, information chief of the PAS supporters’ wing, claimed the four men and women had “violated the covenant” made with their God, and disrespected their own religion by filing the lawsuit to stop the enforcement of a “divinely ordained Law sanctioned by Allah for the people of the world for the betterment of this world”.

“It should and must not be challenged by anyone, be they Muslims or not,” he said in a statement.

He also asserted that it was compulsory for Muslims to push for hudud and that followers of the faith who contested the law would be committing a “great sin”; he further warned them that disaster awaited them for breaking their contract with their God.

“They have booked a ticket to hell,” he said, and urged them to repent.

Balachandran then hailed the High Court judge for making the “wise decision” to allow a preliminary objection by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and four others to strike out the lawsuit filed by the hudud challengers.

In an earlier report today, national news agency Bernama named the four challengers as Mansoor Saat, Azira Aziz, Hasbeemaputra Abu Bakar and Hazwany Jamaluddin.

According to the Bernama report, the foursome filed their lawsuit as an originating summons on June 12 and are also seeking a court declaration that the tabling of the amendment by Abdul Hadi is a breach of the terms outlined in the “Buku Jingga” cooperative framework of the now-defunct opposition pact known as Pakatan Rakyat and comprising PAS, PKR and DAP.

Bernama also reported High Court judge Datuk Asmabi Mohamad of the appellate and special powers division allowing the preliminary objection to the lawsuit filed by the quartet against Abdul Hadi’s proposal to amend the Syariah Courts Act (Criminal Jurisdiction) 1965 at the next Dewan Rakyat sitting next month.

The court is scheduled to hear the case on October 5.
