Class

Blogger is playing with me again and these are sideways. Oh well, it wins this time. This is the second book I made in Margaret Applin's class at www.joggles.com  It was a lot of fun to try different ways to decorate the pages and bind the two books.

Inside each page is a pocket to store treasures. The size of the pages could be altered-must try that.

Accordion Book

Here are the two sides of the accordion book I made in Margaret Applin's class at www.joggles.com  I do like to make books.

Class

I transferred some of the screen printed on deli paper images to my book pages. The black image is from a Dover book.

The fish is a Thermofax screen image given me by Wendy Huhn when she taught a class for Columbia Fiberarts Guild several years ago. Fish swim through all the pages on that side of the book.

 

I do love online classes. They give me something to look forward to and a way to learn new things without hauling tons of stuff-never the right stuff either-and driving long ways on the freeway.

One thing I have managed to do was make more stamps in the kitchen while monitoring the puppy dinner time.

I'm taking another class at www.joggles.com by Margaret Applin. 

 

Here are both sides of the 6 pages I painted for the first journals. I really like making journals.

 

I was having trouble getting into blogger again, couldn't use Google reader or even leave comments on people's blogs. Very frustrating. I found another button that let me do this post. Right now I'm very tired from my husband's emergency, hospital, and doctors trips in February not to mention 2 puppies. Being a good friend, I traded months with someone, so the quilt group is coming to my messy house today. I warned them that I didn't have the energy to clean. They are good friends and understand. Anyway, if blogger keeps hating me, I will switch to probably Wordpress and name the blog focus-on-fiber2. If this one goes dead, that's where you'll find me after a month's rest. I really appreciate my followers.

I'm taking a Freeform Stitchery Class from Janet Banks at www.joggles.com and this is the piece I stitched. We are going to make a journal to put it on in the next lesson. We did quite a number of stitches on it some of which I hadn't used before, so on my sampler, I tried variations of the cup stitch. It's done like needlelace on foundation stitches using something like a coral stitch.

The light blue was a textured thread. The green is Perle Cotton #8. The fuzzy blue just has one row. The beige knitting ribbon has 3 rows. The red is a variegated sock yarn. The 4 ply blue has extra stitches. I do love to stitch.

This is the final block for the Seed Bead Botany class from Nancy Eha at www.QuiltUniversity.com  I don't think there's many spaces I could add more to. I will use what I learned on other things. It was a good class. I keep the background piecing plain and in light colors, so the beads would show better.

I've almost filled my Crazy quilt block with beaded flowers and fruit from Nancy Eha's class at www.QuiltUniversary.com  It's been a  lot of fun and soon I'll take a picture of it to post. Now I need to figure out what to do with the block. Any suggestions?

www.QuiltUniversity.com is the host of my class with Nancy Eha. We did berries and grapes as well as the flowers and vines. It's a lot of fun and takes less time than you would think.

These are two of the flower examples. It's fun to do.

Thanks to everyone who comments. They mean a lot to me. We've been having a medical "event" with my husband. When I come home from the hospital, tired and stressed, then have to walk and give attention to the 5 month old puppy, it's a real lift to read the comments. He's OK now but more dr. appts. Don't you love it that they call everything an "event" now. Like changing the name is going to make it easier to deal with.

Here's another stamp I made for Margaret Applin's class at www.joggles.com I love trees and leaves and use those images more than any other.

To test it I grabbed a painted paper that was done several years ago at Art and Soul.  I stamped the closest tree using Starzon Ink then without reinking did the other two.

 Here are a couple of prints I did from stamps I made for the www.joggles.com class with Margaret Applin-Happ. It's a great class. I like how the stamp with the curved pieces creates a flower shape when it is rotated.

Layering 3 stamps increases the complexity of the design. The puppy is taking up time, or I would have tons more done.

I'm taking a class at www.joggles.com from Margaret Applin-Happ and really enjoying it.Here are the impressions of some simple stamps I made for the second class. I can see lots of possibilities of interesting repeat patterns with these.

Here is a larger, more complex one that is stamped twice. I like this one the best. This could be a new addiction!

Art and Soul Class

This book from my classes at Art and Soul was given by Liz Kettle-a fun and good teacher that I plan to take from again. The base is felted and then tons of hand stitching was added. I probably went over the top but coudn't stop.

It was the perfect class for me when I was trying to get back on track after my companion dog died.

 

I only took one other class and am not sure when I'll get back to that class as a new puppy is coming to live with us tomorrow. He's an adorable, round German Shepherd.

Book

Doris Arndt taught this book class at Art and Soul in Portland. I've taken from her before and enjoy her classes.

Here are the two covers. We carved into the book board to create depth for the images. They aren't added on. That was the first time I'd done that.

We did washes for the inside pages. I used Stonehenge paper.

Stitchery

Here is the second piece I've done inspired by the class with Susan Sorrell at www.joggles.com  It's also from my astonomy book of the night sky.

The background is a painted silk scarf section. The stitchery is done in Perle Cotton. On to number 3.

Class

The next piece from Susan Sorrell's class at www.joggles.com is based on a river delta. The fabric is one I painted. I put experiments in a drawer and go through it when I need backgrounds for things. There always seems to be something that works, although this one was stiff and a bit hard to stitch through by hand.

The threads are Perle cotton and embroidery floss. The stitches are straight stitch, running stitch, chain stitch and Frence knots.
