“The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.” ~Mitch Albom

Oh, Mother
As if to further emphasize the point,
Our Great Mother heaved her bosom,
Leaving us open-mouthed,
And collectively holding our breath,
Waiting to see what’s next.

Dare to Live
Monday to Friday, week in, week out, same old blah blah.
In youth, it was easy to imagine lifetimes of happiness, adventure, love and glory… it was the waiting to experience it all that was difficult!
But somewhere between making money and taking on responsibilities, LIFE was put on hold. STOP!
Re-imagine the possibilities.
GO!

Time for Change
Civilization can only revive when there shall come into being in a number of individuals a new tone of mind, independent of the prevalent one among the crowds, and in opposition to it -- a tone of mind, which will gradually win influence over the collective one, and in the end determine its character. Only an ethical movement can rescue us from barbarism, and the ethical comes into existence only in individuals. ~Albert Schweitzer

Soulmates
When the nights are coldest,
I feel for your presence.
At the loneliest of moments,
I breathe in your essence.
When the days are darkest,
I dream of your face.
Across the expanse of earth,
I reach for your embrace.
For we are connected,
By body and soul.
In coming together,
Our spirits are whole.

Spellbound
The night is darkening round me,
The wild winds coldly blow;
But a tyrant spell has bound me
And I cannot, cannot go.
The giant trees are bending
Their bare boughs weighed with snow.
And the storm is fast descending,
And yet I cannot go.
Clouds beyond clouds above me,
Wastes beyond wastes below;
But nothing drear can move me;
I will not, cannot go.
- by Emily Bronte
And so it begins again... One year closes, while another opens. Our hopes and expectations are fresh and crisp as this January air. Yet, with only 5 day in, all I really want to do is hibernate ‘til spring… and spend my time reading gorgeous poetry like this piece from Emily Bronte!
