Hello! I’m Angel from Fleece Fun.   I’m so excited to bring you this perfect fall tutorial.  I confess fall is my favorite time of year.  I love the color palette of rich oranges, reds, and yellows.  Today I’m showing you how to make this adorable scrunched pumpkin:

Isn’t it cute?  It’s easy to put together.  I’m a visual learner – which is why most of my free patterns come with a video tutorial.

So I thought today instead of doing a regular old written tutorial I’d share it with you in a video I put together just for U Create!

You will need:

Fleece Fun’s Pumpkin Pattern (click here to download)
1/4 yard fleece, cuddle or minky fabric
Thread
Needle
Scissors
Stick
Twine (optional to wrap around the stem – but I like the plain stick)
batting/ beans or other filling

Once you get the hang of it they are fast to make.  You can easily tweak the size of the pumpkin by gathering it more or less.  You could also use a larger seam allowance to make it a little smaller too.

• Pressed flowers (you can use faux or real)
• Small pressed greenery or delicate stems
• Mod Podge, matte or gloss
• Foam brush or soft paintbrush
• Tweezers
• Scissors
• Paper towels

How to Make It

1. Start with a clean vase.
   Wash the glass vase with warm soapy water and dry it completely. Wipe it down well so there are no fingerprints, lint, or dust left on the surface.
2. Plan your flower design.
   Before gluing anything down, arrange your pressed flowers against the vase to decide where you want them. A scattered garden-inspired look works beautifully for this project. Mix larger flowers with a few smaller blooms and sprigs of greenery so the vase feels balanced but not too perfect.
3. Work in small sections.
   Brush a thin layer of Mod Podge onto one small area of the vase. It’s best to work a little at a time so the adhesive stays tacky while you place the flowers.
4. Add the pressed flowers.
   Use tweezers to gently place each flower onto the glass. Press softly with your fingers or the dry end of a brush to smooth the petals flat. Be careful with delicate flowers, since they can tear if handled too much.
5. Layer in greenery and smaller accents. Once the larger flowers are in place, tuck in tiny floral pieces or pressed greenery around them. This gives the vase that soft, finished look and helps fill any empty spaces without making it look crowded.
6. Seal the design. When all of the flowers are in place, brush a very light coat of Mod Podge over the top. Use gentle strokes and don’t overwork the brush. Let it dry completely.
7. Add a second coat if needed. If you want a smoother finish or extra hold, apply one more thin coat after the first has dried. Let the vase cure fully before adding water.
8. Fill with fresh flowers. Once the vase is dry, add water and arrange a bouquet of soft spring flowers. Pale pink roses, white filler flowers, carnations, and fresh greenery all work especially well for the same delicate look as the finished project.

This finished vase is such a pretty reminder that the simplest handmade gifts can often mean the most. These DIY painted herb pots are the perfect Mother’s Day project! They’re easy to make, customizable, and filled with fresh herbs Mom can enjoy all season long.

Whether you place them on a sunny windowsill or gift them as part of a little kitchen garden set, these personalized herb pots make a thoughtful gift that keeps growing.

Supplies

• Small terracotta pots
• Acrylic or chalk paint (soft pastel colors work beautifully)
• Small paint brushes
• Letter stencils or vinyl letters (optional)
• Painter’s tape
• Pencil
• Clear matte sealer (optional)
• Potting soil
• Herb plants (basil, mint, thyme, rosemary, etc.)

Step 1: Clean the Pots

Before painting, make sure the pots are clean and dry.Wipe off any dust or debris with a damp cloth and allow them to dry completely. This helps the paint adhere better. Craft Tip: If your pots are brand new, a quick rinse removes clay dust that can affect paint coverage.

• Pressed flowers and leaves

Step 1: Choose Your Flowers

Start by selecting a variety of pressed flowers and greenery. Look for a mix of statement blooms, filler flowers, and greenery like ferns. This combination helps create a balanced arrangement that feels natural and organic.

Craft Tip – Choose flowers that are fully dried and flat. Any moisture left in the petals can cause discoloration inside the frame over time.

For many frames, no glue is actually needed because the glass will hold everything in place. If you want extra security, add a tiny dot of clear drying glue behind thicker stems.

Craft Tip – Less glue is better. Too much adhesive can show through delicate petals.
