People don't believe us when we talk about how the geese are avatars of destruction. Window screens, rubber car trim, canvas chairs, curtains: if you don't provide them something better, all will be left in tatters in their wake.
This chew toy is made from fabric strips, scraps of parrot toys that were previously destroyed by the geese, and discarded twine from hay bales. Watch as the goose attacks the twine like it owes her money:
Do you believe us now? ;-)

Crashed the whole weekend. While I attempt to get back on track, enjoy this cute video recommended by @virgotex about a trucker and his pet duck. The cuteness, it burns!!

First Farm Natters Video
Made with the Flip video cam, edited in iMovie, and music clip added from my iTunes library. Despite pouring through the helpfiles, extracting audio, adjusting levels and the like, still couldn't get the animal sounds to play, even with the music turned all the way down, so I've got more studying to do. Regardless, this was a fun project. Looking forward to doing some Spring & Summer clips when the sun is shining, the dogs and geese swimming, bugs a'buzzin, and more. Enjoy!10.28.2008
Video: Nutmeg growls "back off, I'm layin' eggs here!"
I had never, EVER, heard a chicken growl before. Thankfully, Spouse had recently been gifted a second-hand camera that takes short videos, and he got a short take of Nutmeg telling us to back the h*ll off while she was trying to lay an egg. The first noise you hear is actually one of the geese, but the growling... that's all Nutmeg, our little Cubalaya chicken-dog:
She does this every time we go near the coop when she's trying to lay. I love that little firecracker!
