I think that blog about me and my family would not be complete without you experiencing a bit of my list ridiculousness. I make lists for everything. My husband is going to be thrilled to learn, that not only do I have lists, but I have graduated to drawings. :) For the last 10 years, I have tried to figure out my style around the house. Recently, I started collecting styles that I liked in a small binder. Then, last week I was introduced to Pinterest. Suddenly, I have too many ideas. Which ones should I use and where? 10 years of similar indecision has led me nowhere.
I want to decorate my home. I love fabric, and flowers and handmade items. I love embroidery and anything that looks like embroidery. I want the rooms to feel clutter free but display things that are important to us. I want the closets to look pretty with matching boxes and labels! Oh, how I love labels.... At first, I was just making drawings to show John b/c he can never "envision" what I am talking about. I couldn't decide between a couple of ideas, so I drew both. As soon as I colored the drawings, I knew I was onto something. I FIGURED OUT WHAT I WANT!!!!! The kids told me what they wanted, and chose the same designs that I did! Granted, I have only figured out the kids rooms. I think the only item that I need to buy for both rooms is a Peel and Stick Spiderman Border. Everything else will be homemade or I already have it. Sooooo excited!!!

Matthew's floorplan (top right) with the bed wall, window wall and end wall. The fourth wall is a door and a closet, so I did not include it. I was thinking about doing a painted city scape behind his bed with a Peel and Stick Spiderman above it or making a spider headboard with Spiderman next to it and a border above it. Which do you like better?

This wall holds a window and the length of the bed. I only have to make an art bulletin board and the spider for a red curtain topper.
I just love this. Matthew will have his trophies, sports plaques and airplane stuff all together. His junior ranger badge wall will go b/w the closet and door. :) The only thing I have yet to figure out is where to put his Wooden Name. Bw the shelves and plaques? On the headboard? Above the bed/Spiderman?
Abby's room was easier. She likes Princesses, birds and castles.
These are sideways, but you can see teh canopy along her wall above teh bed with a princess crown on top. She already owns the pink castle that turns into a toddler table.
I want to make something princessy in the right colors to top her curtains. I like the wooden toppers, but we'll see. The art board will be amazing!
I think this is my favorite piece. I want to use a Peel and Stick tree or just paint one that I can hang her Abigail Letters from. I got the idea from Pottery Barn, but that place is too expensive, and I'm not sure it is long enough for Abigail anyway. The bookshelf will house her baby dolls and their clothes, etc. The pink thing at the foot of the tree is her doll bed.
Drawings like these are actually how I plan scrapbooks. I wish I had thought about using them earlier for decorating! I'll post the finished rooms whenever that happens. In the meantime, I need to go back to cleaning the car, garage and kitchen b/f we move. Nevermind, it is bedtime. Tomorrow is another day!
