The Tank

I don't want our second child to feel left out from the blog, so this post will be about him. I went to the doctor at the end of last week for my 24 week visit. I've got traces of protein in my urine, which worries both the doctor and I a little bit. It's something that needs to be watched for my next visit. I measured 30 inches, which is 6 inches bigger than I should, again. Because I haven't gained extra weight, the doctor says it probably just means that I will be having a BIG baby. I always measured right on for Lillie and I never had traces of protein, so this time is differing from last. I'm not all that jazzed about having a big baby, because of complications last time, the doctor has said from the beginning that I'd have to have a c-section if the baby was too big... not what I want. I wasn't worried back then, Lillie wasn't all that big, but I am now. Baby has earned the nickname "Tank". He's an active little guy and when he's kicking me at midnight, keeping me awake, I am reminded of the severe lack of sleep that accompanies newborns and I am scared. It was hard enough last time, when I could nap when Lillie did, but this time will be extra hard if my toddler is not napping or if they don't nap at the same time. Somehow people do it over and over again, so I'm sure I'll survive. I've been finding a lot of ideas on blogs of things that I want to make before the baby comes, blankets, clothing, crib bedding, etc. I wonder if I'll get any of it done. Next week I have to do the glucose test. Super yucky. And diabetes could be a reason for both the protein and large baby, so I'm a little nervous. Fingers crossed!

Oh good luck! I HATE the glucose tests. Ugh. Hopefully your protein lowers.
As for the 2 kids, yeah it's hard, but do-able. Especially if you insist on Lillie still taking naps.
I'd have Meg take a nap in the morning, then prolong her afternoon one till Carters and then we ALL would take a good nap.
You can do it!
But when it comes to three kids. . . yeah then I don't have advice. haha

We will be thinking of you and "tank". The glucose isn't too bad as long as you have it COLD. Good luck.

So glucose is way different in Utah, they just have you eat a candy bar and a can of pop before the test. As for the protein, it could be preclampysia lots of protein in my urine when they diagnosed me. So keep me updated that is a little nerve racking.

hey carrie! congrats on the boy! try not to worry too much about the size. they had no idea natalie would be so huge, and then we got an ultrasound with emma, and it said the baby was 9 lbs....but when she was born she was only 7 lbs.....so its definitely not an exact science! as for the sleep deprivation-- which i totally dread too!-- i recommend the book "On becoming babywise". It seriously saved me. To have the baby sleep through the night at 2 months is so great. The program probably isnt for everyone, but i love it! the babies are so much more independent, they dont need you to rock them or feed them to sleep, they do it on their own. check it out!
