Twelve Month Stats

Weight: 18 pounds 13 ounces= 5-10th percentile
Height: 28 inches= 10-25th percentile
Head Circumference: 17.7 inches= 25-50th percentile

Kinsley knows how to wrap us around her little finger. When she wants something she will walk up to us and give us a kiss. We must be softies because she usually ends up with what she wants.

We know when she wants to eat because she will smack her lips together. Sometimes she will see other kids at church eating snacks and she will walk up to them and smack her lips. We call this her "begging face."

She walks around 99.9% of the time. She has recently tried "running" (aka walking fast) which usually results in her landing on her face. She loves when her dad comes home! As soon as she hears his key in the lock she is off and running (walking) towards the door. She has also learned how to go down the stairs. One time she tried to pick up the pace and tried walking down the stairs... (I swear she rolled down the stairs in slow motion) she ended up walking away unhurt.

Kinsley's favorite word: AAAAAHHHHHH (at the top of her lungs) -- which isn't even a word! Some days I wish she came with a volume button.

Kinsley's favorite toys: her doll and her teddy bears.

Kinsley's favorite food: pasta, frozen peas and carrots, and watermelon. Kinsley will eat almost anything. Although, she HATES being fed! She would much rather do it all by herself. Recently I started her on whole milk. At first she hated it and would just spit it out but I solved the problem by adding a little bit of Nesquick.

Happy First Birthday Kinsley!

We celebrated Kinsley's FIRST birthday today! I know everyone says this, but I REALLY can't believe my BABY is ONE year old!!! Eric wanted to start the tradition of waking her up at the time she was born (4:57 am) to sing to her but I told him we should think of a better tradition. We had a "Very Hungry Caterpillar" birthday party. Kinsley didn't have a clue what was going on but she enjoyed ripping paper, playing with her friends, and eating a cupcake.
We got Kinsley a "big girl" car seat. We found it (it is a Safety First brand) at our Wal-Mart for $70 regularly priced at $169. I really hope there isn't something wrong with it because it was a killer deal!!! Thanks to our family who sent gifts and money!!! We appreciated it.

A picture is worth a thousand words, right?...... Well, prepare yourself for a thousand pictures!!!
I saw the hungry caterpillar (cup) cake online and thought that it would be easier to bake and decorate a bunch of small cupcakes rather than a large cake... 4 hours later I began to think I should have gone to the store and purchased a cake! But, it's gone now and at least Kinsley enjoyed it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Yummy, yummy in my tummy!!!
Kinsley LOVED her cupcake! She ate every last bite. I just hope she doesn't wake up in the middle of the night with a tummy ache.

Thanks to our friends who were able to make it out to the little celebration! Sorry to those who weren't able to. I wish we had a bigger house so we could invite more people and I wish we lived closer to family so they could have joined!

Spectating Is Hard Work

Kinsley is getting hard to contain. If there is trouble she will find it. Lately, I have been trying to jog on the treadmill in the mornings. To keep her in one place I have to put her in her exersaucer (I can just imagine her trying to get on the treadmill with me). She doesn't love being a spectator and she would much rather be walking around getting into trouble. This morning she fell asleep watching me. She was so cute and peaceful, I just had to snap a few photos. The peace didn't last long because when she woke up she managed to throw my water bottle into the toilet, take all the books off the bookshelf, and throw all her teddy bears down the stairs. *Sigh* The marathoon of my day begins.

St. Jude Classic

Eric's boss gave us two free passes to the St. Jude Classic. The St. Jude Classic is one of the longest running events on the PGA Tour and it benefits the St. Jude Children's Research. This year the purse was $5,600,000 with $1,008,000 going to the winner. I can't even imagine that amount of money! My golf background is zilch. I believe the first time I tried golfing was in my Uncle Craig's and Aunt Ida's backyard. They had built a miniature golf course for the youth in their ward and my family went over one night for FHE. My Uncle Cree was trying to teach me how to play and I decided to hit the ball as hard as I could to get it around the obstacle. It seemed like a really good idea at the time. I didn't tell Cree my plan and I ended up swinging my club as hard as I could (almost like a bat). My aim must have been off because I didn't connect with the ball... instead I connected with Cree's face. No worries, I didn't break anything, just drew some blood. But I gave up golf right then and there.
When Eric called and told me about the tickets, I was hesitant to go. Then he mentioned that it would make an interesting post on the blog. That's all I needed to hear so I packed the diaper bag and was ready to step foot on my first real golf course! When we arrived they wouldn't let me bring my diaper bag, camera, or cell phone--which annoyed me because the only reason I wanted to go was so I could take pictures and blog about it. I tried to talk Eric out of going to the tournament and taking me to Hobby Lobby instead. But Eric appeased me and told me we could download pictures from the internet.

Like I said, I know next to nothing about golf but I've been told there were some pretty good players there such as: Phil Mickelson (World's number 2 player), Sergio Garcia, Camilo Villegas, Justin Leonard, David Toms, Shaun Michael, John Daly, Brian Gay, David Ducal, Mark Brooks, and Rich Beem. We watched a lot of different players and followed Mickelson, Todd, and Day around for a few holes. Eric thought it was pretty neat watching Mickelson birdie the 8th hole (whatever that means). I was amazed how close to the hole many of the players got the ball. I am sure it would take me 15 strokes to their 3, hence the reason I don't golf.

Brian Gay ended up winning the tournamnet. All in all, it was pretty interesting. I almost died of heatstroke but I got an interesting post out of the experience and Eric did take me to Hobby Lobby. I would like to think that we both walked away winners!

What to do when there's a Tornado:

A. Go into your storm cellar
B. Go into your bathroom and put a mattress over your head (if you don't have a storm cellar)
C. Park under an overpass (if you are in your car)
D. Go out to dinner (if you are really hungry)We picked D. The pro's were #1: no waiting (everyone else was hiding in their cellars/bathtubs), #2: interesting atmosphere (the power kept going off and on), and #3: great entertainment (the couple near our table ran out of the restaurant in a panic to hide in their cellar/bathtub). Unfortunately, I did not see a funnel but you had better believe that I had my camera on the table waiting for one!!!

On the way home from the Zoo, severe weather warnings were broadcast on the radio. There was a lot of traffic and we've learned that these people tend to be awful drivers when the weather turns bad so we figured we had a greater chance of dying in traffic than in the restaurant.

The Zoo And A Tasty Squirrel

We spent a few hours at the zoo this afternoon (I apologize for posting about the zoo a lot- we have a membership and go there often). Today we watched the Sea Lion Show. Kinsley loved pointing at the sea lions and would clap whenever the audience did. I don't know who she found more entertaining the audience or the sea lions.
The most entertaining part of the zoo were the "rednecks." As we were leaving the Sea Lion Show we were following behind some "rednecks" and a squirrel ran across our path. One of them took off his hat to try and catch the squirrel and said to his friend, "I'm gonna catch me a tasty squirrel an' fry 'im for supper." Me and Eric started laughing but we really think he was serious.

Kinsley's Boyfriend

We watched Kinsley's friend, Jefferson, yesterday. They were really cute together and kept trying to give each other kisses.
Can you blame him? Who wouldn't try to kiss this face?

"Why?"

You ask, "Why didn't Kinsley enjoy swimming at the pool today?" Let me show you...

Sometimes, Daddy's can be too daring.
On a happier note, while I had her in the kiddie pool she had a blast splashing and kicking her little legs.

Disc Golf

Saturday, Eric helped me paint our bedroom (pictures to come soon). I really appreciate him helping with things around the house. I especially appreciate him helping me paint because I know he hates it. I asked him on several different occasions if he liked the color I picked and he would always reply, "I like white." White happens to be the original color on our walls but I think somewhere deep, deep, DEEP down there is a tiny part of him that likes how our house is turning out.
Because he helped me all morning, I let him decide what we should do as a family Saturday evening. He wanted to play disc golf, so we headed to Latimer Park.
I think he regretted his decision after he saw my first throw. Instead of throwing it straight (down the path), I released late and it disappeared in the bushes 20 feet behind me (where Kinsley is). After 15 minutes of searching through the thorny, spider-web infested bushes, we found it, and resumed play. However, Eric wouldn't let me play any of the holes near water hazards. In my defense, I would like to note that none of the disc golf courses I have played on in Idaho have this many tress and bushes.

Our cute little caddy.
