Our White Son...New Language

so, a few days ago we heard a loud knock on our back door. we found that rather odd since #1- the FRONT door would be the place to knock and #2-we didn't know anyone yet who would be visiting. eric answered the door and found two little boys (about 6 yrs old) playing with the bubble wrap we had tossed out back with empty boxes. they said, "can yer son, da wuiiite wun cum out to pluay?" eric told them they must have the wrong door; we don't have a son. they just continued to pop the bubble wrap...

Kiley tried to order a number five from a fast food restaurant when the lady said, "uh what?" "I'd like a number five, please." "Oh, you mean uh FI..." At the check-out stand in a hardware store, we heard the customer in front of us tell the cashier his phone number: "FI-FO-FI-SEM-SEM-FI-FO." We're trying to find a dictionary or translating guide so we can learn the language of the south but this is about all we've found:

M I S S I S S I P P I

After a long and monotonous four day drive, we miraculously made it to Mississippi (that's a really fun state to spell out loud!)... in one piece. Kiley says that when we move back west we are selling all of our belongings and flying. Driving with a baby was more difficult because we had to stop ever 2.5-3 hours for feedings. Then Kinsley decided to stop taking bottles... which is rather upsetting since Kiley really liked taking a break from nursing every now and again.

When we arrived, our apartment wasn't ready for us. The manager said, "Well, didn't someone call you yesterday to tell you not to come until later this week because your apartment wouldn't be ready?" We looked at her and said, "No, we have been driving since Saturday and you would have had to call us more than ONE day in advance to tell us we couldn't move in." Needless to say we spent the first night in a hotel and then did some sightseeing with Kiley's family (who were saintly enough to drive the truck and trailer loaded with all of our stuff... we still feel bad that the truck broke down and Bonnie and Kristi had to spend the night in the truck... Chad likes to run on empty and didn't realize there would suddenly be LONG stretches of NOTHING on his drive).

We went to Graceland and learned that we don't know very much about Elvis. In the souvenir shop Eric found a hat with EP on it. Kiley had a "blonde moment" and said, "Cool you found a hat with your initials on it! What are the chances of that happening?!" ..... Elvis Presley....

Apparently he had a lot of hits... we need to get a cd

People still come and lay flowers on his grave.

FIVE Generations

Great Great Grandma- Seamons, Great Grandma- Prather, Grandma- Pierce, Dad- Eric, Daughter- Kinsley

When Kiley was a baby she was in a five generation photo with her family. It doesn't happen very often so she was really excited when Kinsley had the same opportunity.

What a poser!!!! =)

Kiley did it!!!!

Hair today....

Gone tomorrow...

Kiley surprised us all by chopping off 10 inches of her hair and donating it!!! Her hair hasn't been this short since the 2nd grade but she keeps telling Eric that "it will grow back."

Blessing Day

Eric gave Kinsley a name and a blessing on August 3rd. He did an amazing job!!! I am so lucky to have him. We are also really lucky to have such a supportive family. We were so glad so many of our relatives could attend this special occasion!

Jones Reunion

We have all signed on to the Jones Crew.... We have come to camp with the chosen few...

We were helping Kiley's dad load some grills at Grandpa Gary's and someone called out "Load up!" Next thing we knew Gary put Kinsley in back of the pickup with all of the camping gear but she didn't seem to mind.

Kinsley was a happy camper....

MOST of the time... We were just happy she didn't wake up the entire camp!
