And It All Went To Hell

So things were nice up until Christmas Eve.

I have cookies made. All the shopping was done. The house was decorated and quite pretty.

Then Mokey got sick.

5 hours in the Animal ER on Christmas Eve, with an estimate that made me nauseous. Mokey was cathed and unblocked, but had to stay 2 more days for observation.

Yeah...so much for getting rid of debt in the new year. Boo to the hiss.

He's now on a special diet, and I'm trying to wean my other kitties away from eating in a grazing manner.

This is not making them happy at all.

The bill is not making me happy.

No matter how hard I work to make a holiday nice, things always get fucked up.

My Trees

This is our pretty little 6 ft tree in our living room

Most of the ornaments on this tree came from Dollar General and Dollar Tree.

Hey, I have cats, I don't want things that break.

As I'm sure you can see, I love owls...well...little birdies in general.

I love this tree.
The next tree is my little 4 ft silver tree, in my dining room.

I bought this little tree in 2013 when my dad was put on hospice. It was a crazy year, and we didn't have a regular tree that year.

This little one sat in the corner.

Its a more playful tree.

Its precious and I love it.

I only hope the kitties don't try to kill it.

That's why I have created a cookie container barrier around it.

Yes, those are all my Christmas cookies stored there.

Mike..get a box..come get some! You too Bill :)

Well I Accomplished Something

Its a week before Christmas and all through the house.

Nothing is getting done.

The only thing that I managed to do today was bake 2 different kinds of biscoti.

How exciting is that?

Tomorrow's cookies will be Russian Tea Cookies and Spritz

Yes, the cookie craziness has begun.

I wish I knew why I did this.

Sadness, I Has It

I think I've used this blog title before.

Its Christmastime and its time for holiday baking, only I don't know what to make and I'm always sad that there's not enough people to eat all the cookies that I bake.

My dad was the one with the sweet tooth. He devoured cookies like they were going out of style.

There's no one that eats cookies like he did and there's not that many people I can gift cookies too either.

It makes me sad.

There are so many things I want to make. Brownie Truffles....Peppermint Fudge...

~sigh~

I miss my Daddy.

Merry After Christmas

I hope all of my friends had a lovely holiday yesterday. Yes, I've been MIA for a bit, but holidays are always crazy and I don't think sleep happened a lot in the last week.

Here's what I've been doing. My cats, have a good sense of humor!

Christmas Isn't Coming

I have no tree up.

I have no motivation to do it.

This weekend will mark one month since he's been gone.

I want to "keep" Christmas, but my heart isn't into it.

I know I should.

But I just can't seem to do it.

It hurts too much.

I can't stop crying. The stress has just transferred itself to different things, and truthfully, I'd rather be stressed out taking care of my father than being stressed out over all the things that I have to deal with now that he's gone.

Have I mentioned how empty and quiet our house is without him?

And its so hard when you have no one to talk to that understands. At least hospice has helped my mom, but they forgot that there were other caregivers for my dad, and our hearts are broken too, and we are all having trouble coping.

So really, it would be ok, if we skipped most of Christmas this year, right?

What I Did On Christmas 2011

~ Went to church where the organist decided to blow out our ears by playing our pipe organ REALLY  loud!

~ Made dinner.

~ Decided that no matter what I do...I always get screwed on Christmas....not in a good way.

~ Determined the cause for most of my grief is the wisdom teeth that have decided to bug me for the first time in 3 years.

~ Watched The Tudors...and said...Wow, that's a whole lot of naked!

~ Watched Doctor Who...and fell asleep through it..cos lordy that wasn't Moffat at his best.

So yeah, that's my Christmas! How was yours?

Merry Christmas Eve!

What a wonderful evening. I made dinner and many of the cookies for dessert. I even did some of the dishes.
All went very well.

Oh and no one is in the hospital or sick.

Truly it was a great Christmas Eve.

Here's hoping that Christmas Day goes just as well.

I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday as well!

Christmas Tree Envy

This is my Christmas tree, or rather one of them. I always put up a tree in my computer room, because I see it more often than the one in the living room.

I spent several hours last night, assembling and choosing ornaments for my pretty red and gold tree.

I was damn proud of my tree.

Then I told Father Jerry about it.

He told me to go look at his tree in the rectory.

So I did.

OMG!!!!!!

Father Jerry has a tree that I'd say was 7 ft....beautifully lit with white lights...and the freaking thing spins!!!!!!!

The tree spins!!!

My tiny little tree has an inferiority complex now.

Crikey!

I've been one upped by a lot of people in my life..but this is the first time I've been one upped by a priest.

Blast it!

Secret Santa?

Doctor Who: The Complete Fourth Series
I just want to send a thank you out to the person who bought me Doctor Who Series 4, but decided to keep it a secret.

The package arrived the other day, but with nothing inside to indicate who purchased the DVD for me.

Wowzas!

I feel loved!

I think I have all the new who with the exception of the past season with The Eleventh Doctor. Woo hoo!

So to the mysterious gifter...

I thank you so very much! It made my Christmas a whole lot brighter!

Christmas 2010

I didn't think today would have turned out as nice as it did.

No fighting...

No tears...that weren't happy ones...

And it was a White Christmas.

Everyone was home for the holiday.

What more could we ask for?

Not much, I tell you.

It was a lovely day, start to finish.

I hope every one of you had a day as lovely as mine!

Merry Christmas

Christmas Eve turned out to be quite nice. Dad is feeling a bit stronger today and less loopy.

We all enjoyed our chicken dinner and the fixins, that were made by my nephew, my friend Jennifer and myself.

I'm so thankful for all my friends who were here for me...either online or in person. Christmas is going to be so much nicer now!

I love you all...and hope you have a beautiful Christmas Day!

Less Than A Week Until Christmas!!

I think that's about all I can say.

I do have presents taken care of...and grocery shopping done.

But everything else?

ARGH!!

I am pressing the panic button now.

Anyone want to come help me clean my house?

Pretty please?

It Really Is The Christmas Season

There are certain things that make me feel the spirit of Christmas. Most of them are Christmas specials. It isn't Christmas until the Grinch has been played. Tonight is the Charlie Brown Christmas Special. This is one that will always be near and dear to me.

How can you not love it?

That sweet little stick of a tree he brings to the Christmas pagent that turns into something more beautiful than any of the other trees he could have found? Linus' telling of the Christmas story.

Oh and its definitely not Christmas until some wanker complains about a nativity scene in a gov't building.  We've totally missed the point of Separation Of Church and State. We are a country that's supposed to celebrate our diversity. Well I think every building should have a menorah, a nativity or whatever other festive thing your religion believes in. I think they should be displayed proudly, because as a nation we are supposed to welcome all religions. One religion is not supposed to control our government, not no religion at all.

Why does some asshat always have to whine about the nativity? If you don't believe in God, the nativity is just a scene of a family in a barn!

Get a grip on yourselves, asshats!

Moving Right Along

I finished cleaning the kitchen this morning. On to the dining room. There is a small glimmer of hope that the cleaning may actually get finished before Christmas Eve. That my friends, is a freaking miracle.

Actually the amount of stuff I have for goodwill is insane! Not to mention the stuff that's gone to the garbage!

Yikes!

At least we've decided on the cookies we are making.

Firstly, we're doing Muddy Buddies Chex Mix.

Then coconut blossoms w/Hershey kisses

Peanut butter cup cookies

and then one slovak cookie that I can barely pronounce, let alone spell but it will have some nuts and apricot filling.

I'm also going to make something with nutella and crescent rolls.

At least the food will be good, even if the house isn't spotless.

I'm Done!

My last two Christmas presents were bought today and now I can concentrate on the mix CD card! Woo hoo!

I've got about half of the mix figured out. I still need a few more songs and then it will be complete. I've even got an image for the artwork, which I found while trolling some stock photo websites.

Woo hoo!

I'm officially broke, but I'm festive and everyone will have a gift, including a few of the members of my online family that I've bought gifts for over the last 5 or more years.

I'm really pleased how everything is turning out.

Here's hoping Dec 25 turns out to be just as lovely as the advent season. I'm excited for it.
