They were just so cute!

Many of you have heard me complain about having these 3 gold fish FOREVER!!! They just won't die.  So Austin & I head to Walmart after my doctor appointment yesterday to get Aunt Becky 2 gold fish :)  Yes I want to spread the love (she gave me permission to buy her some).  I saw the cute little gold fish and said "oh we'll take 2 more too".  What other entertainment can you buy for .20 cents each?  Actually they did cost me more than that.  The "big" gold fish had to be put in a bigger container (which I just found a clear plastic document holder that I wasn't using anymore) & are upstairs in Austin's bathroom.  Oh and then they needed a plastic plant and new gravel.  Then the little fish needed a plant too.  So $10.50 more cents later.  We have 2 "tanks" and 5 gold fish to feed.

The new little ones & their glow in the dark plant

The 3 bigger gold fish who might grow even bigger now that they have more room to swim around.

Baby update:  We had an uneventful prenatal visit.  Everything seems fine.  The heart rate was around 150ish. Austin was able to hear it too and thought the doctor was going to let him look at the baby through a microscope :)  My 20 week ultrasound is scheduled for next Friday so stay tuned for the big news!

Shooting Lesson

Saturday was such a sunny warm day that we had to take advantage of it and go outside.  Chris took Austin out to target practice with his BB gun, of course I went along too with the camera to capture the action.

First, safetly lesson

Second, set up target (these are Elk Austin made just to shoot at)  The little one is Chris's.

Third, shoot holes in the target!

Austin did a great job for having a gun that was long and heavy.  He still can't shut one eye to look through the sights, but he did okay. Hitting the cardboard or paper at least most of the time.  It will be awhile until he's ready for the high caliber stuff, but you have to start somewhere.

I'm not Martha!

So I noticed really quick electrical tape does not come off wax paper very easy.  Expecially when you've punched out a little design no bigger than your thumb nail.  That idea went out the window.  Plan B:  Just punch through the tape without sticking it to the wax paper first.  Much better!  To my surprise it was not too difficult to get the punch unstuck from the tape either.  Trying to be creative does take a lot more time.
Austin painting a design on the egg

this worked really good.  Take a Qtip and put food coloring on wax paper and it "sucks" it right up.  Then you can use it like a marker

Saturday Fun

It's getting close to Easter and Austin has always been really excited to color eggs.   I've been getting Martha Stewarts magazine and getting lots of craft ideas.  Mostly ones I am really not able to do, or willing to try but she had such cute egg decorating ideas I just couldn't resist. So after a few trips to the store for paper punches, stickers, ect I think we're ready.

hopefully 5 dozen is enough

I  used electrical tape and wax paper to make my own stickers.  Martha said to buy sheets of vinyl, but I couldn't find it.  We have lots of electrical tape and I think this will work just fine.
More pictures to come later in the day when the master pieces are done.

Quick Update

It had been a couple weeks since my last post so I figured an update was needed.  Not too many exciting things have been happening with us besides the same old routine.  Last weekend my parents came by for one night since our last trip to see them was back in February.  Everyone seemed to have caught colds or have severe allergies so it took a week or two for everyone to get well enough for a visit.
Austin & Papa

Today I tried to get some pictures of Austin at the park.  Funny how fake a smile can be when your 4. The first one is the only one that comes close to a genuine smile.  The others you can judge for yourself.

So we decided to feed the ducks instead of pose for more pictures

Fun with Friends

This week we have two little guests in our house while their parents go off for a much needed vacation!  Ava and Garrett are here and tonight makes night #2.  So far Garrett and I have mastered bottle feeding thanks to Meredith's suggestion to heat the milk up hotter.  It did the trick and he is much more content with a full belly of warmer milk.  Ava and Austin are inseparable.  What one does the other is right there doing the same thing.  I am very surprised...and happy that they are not fighting :)  We've had a few disagreements of course & a little bossiness, but nothing that can't be solved quickly.
Here's a few pictures of the past couple days.
Garrett happy in the bouncer that Becky let me borrow.  It has been great to provide him with variety.  Much better than being on the floor all the time.

Showing Ava how you race cars down a slide.

It was a beautiful day out with sun shine and warm temps so we had to get out and supply ourselves with a little vitamin D

New Baby pictures

We had our first prenatal appointment today & Chris came too so he could see the baby first hand on the ultrasound. Pictures never do it justice when you can actually see it moving around.  We got to see the baby stretch out, bend legs and arms, & twist and turn like crazy.  I know I've felt some movement already, but to see how much it moved and not be able to feel it was amazing.  It's a good thing I don't have a ultrasound machine at home, I'd spend most of my day just watching the baby move around.  We won't be able to know if it's a boy or a girl until about 5-6 more weeks.

back/side picture.  You can see the ribs, an arm & I think the jaw bone

The baby had his/her legs straight up. It was much easier to see in person

This was to get the heart rate. It was 159 bpm.  The baby is laying on the side a little
