Austin came to the dentist with me today to get a quick dental check. He has a little bit of tarter build up and has to go back for a cleaning but was very good in the dental chair. I didn't get that good of a report myself. One new cavity & I really need a new crown too :(

Fishing
We drove down the freeway a few miles to "freeway lakes". They were more like brown ponds but we tried fishing there anyway. Here's a few pictures of what we caught.

What is up with Snakes?
For some reason we are attracting snakes. This time at least they were in the woods & not on our front door step. We went for a family hike in Silver Falls and looked down and saw these two little guys. (one has a stripe down it's back the other is more grey and harder to see. They're head to head)
Regular Garter Snake :)
Then not 2 minutes up the trail Chris saw this one.
(California Red sided Garter Snake)
The last snake that visited our house was a Gopher Snake.

Friday pool fun
Yesterday was not a typical Friday for us. First Chris had the day off because he worked that night. I was off early because their were no patients scheduled in the afternoon & Austin was picked up early from Daycare because Daddy was home and wanted to play. One of their "jobs" was to put up Austin's new pool. It was not very warm outside, but I guess kids don't really care that much about the outside temperature. It's a pool. It's fun. They must go in.

Austin's Friend
Before coming back to Albany we had a play date with my friend Michaela and her two cute boys. Here's a picture of Jacob & Austin together. I was too busy holding Josiah to take his picture, but he is growing like a weed. I'll have to get some shots of him next time.

Ava's 2nd Birthday Party
Ava turned two on June 13th and we drove to Portland yesterday to celebrate. What a big girl she is growing up to be. The kids had a great time playing ball, drawing with sidewalk chalk, & chasing each other around the yard.

It's my b-day :)
Okay, so I'm not 21.....I'm 31 but I can pretend if I want too. I got carded yesterday & that made me feel good. We're headed to have lunch today at Red Robin. All for a free burger and to get embarrassed when the entire staff come and sing. I love that! Okay not really, but the kids will get a kick out of it.

We went strawberry picking with Aunt Becky yesterday and picked 18 pounds of Strawberries.
Here's Austin afterwards who ate a few too :)
All our strawberries...soon to be washed and turned into jam.
It worked!!! I bought these cute little jars, which don't hold a lot but I liked them anyway. I put some in tubberware to keep in the refrigerator to eat right away. I also made a batch of freezer jam. The mess is still in my kitchen this morning & calling to get cleaned up.
yummy, junky strawberry jam.

Amazing Quilt
Austin and I went to the longest parade ever (Lebanon Strawberry Festival). It was almost 2 hours! He really loves them and didn't want to leave. He had 2 girls helping him catch candy....actually they caught the candy for him and then put it in his bag. Here is the only picture I took of the entire parade. I thought this was amazing! I'm not a quilter...I don't even sew.
We bought home grown Oregon strawberries on the way home and oh they are so juicy and good. Monday Austin and I are headed out to the strawberry fields to pick our own with Becky. This is one perk to the valley; fresh produce!
Chris had his last class until Fall and scored 100% on his final! Way to go Chris!!! After working for practically 3 days/nights straight, no study time you aced it. I am happy he doesn't have to spend the evenings studying and then half his Saturdays in Springfield. We're going to enjoy the extra family time until September.

Thanks Skype
Austin's new nightly ritual after his bath and before bed. What is the computer age going to be like when he has kids? This is Papa reading him a book.
