official educator?

so it's official i signed my teaching contract today and sent it back through the postal service. For those of you that are out of the loop... i have spent my last 4 years going to school to teach math to kids in grades 6-12. Pretty wierd i know to have a desire to teach math, but really i can admit i am a super huge nerd and I absolutely LOVE school!

well i am teaching 7th grade math and 8th grade science... yes you heard it right, science. i took one science class in college and barely passed so i have been studying extra hard and already starting on my lesson plans so i will be prepared. i report on the 24th of august and there i will begin my teaching career.

I have come to conclude the following:

1. I am scared to death!
2. School did not prepare me for anything!
3. I am a five year kid trapped in an adult body... am i really mature enough to run a classroom? or maybe that was put wrong, refer to number 1
4. can spongebob squarepants be considered a classroom theme?

I will take any types of suggestions, comments, ideas, lesson plans, tips, etc...

Don't get me wrong though! i am so so so excited to be a teacher and i know i will teach those kids socks off, but it is wierd to think that finally the day has come.

I AM A MATH TEACHER!

poor baby regan

a couple days was a sad day for us... regan the hyper active puppy (that she normally is) thought it would be a great idea to wiggle out of derek's arms and try to make a jump for the bed. As she collided with the ground she welped in pain as she hobbled to the bedside in sheer discomfort. I grabbed her up and held her close as we examined her leg and notice her foot was turned in an odd position... it was broken. So we had to wait until 8am when the vet opened and derek took her in. She broke four of her foot/toe bones and has to wear this cast for a month... poor girl She still has fire in her blood though and it hasn't slowed her down too much!

on a little lighter note... here is a picture of her the day before in her cute new outfit!

past couple of weeks...

so it has been a liitle while since i last blogged and so much has happened and of course i didn't take pictures! so first off tlyncia came to visit for a week and she saved my life because she was such a good puppy sitter:

we ran the flamingo gorge 5k together and both of us got 3rd place in our age groups so we both got matching medals and t-shirts which is the primary reason we raced in the first place

(free shirts... hello?!):

we did lots of fun things some of which included watching the 3 on 3 basketball tournament, walking through the fair, the saturday night concert (trapt and collective soul), drove around looking for wild life, and tlyncia's favorite: WILD HORSE LOOP
Lets see when that week finally ended we headed to Utah for the Horlacher family reunion. we went up to American Fork Canyon's: Mutual Dell and there we had a blast hanging out with all our cousins. We had a massive game of kickball, ate lots of junk food, had campfire stories, went to casecade springs, and to a lake (where ben caught a fish with his bear hands!) of course i don't have pictures of all of this but here are a few:

Casecade Springs:

we had a great time... it was a nice break and i know tlyncia is finally glad to be home now especially since she is doing drivers ed now! We are back to the real world. I started teaching summer school math and derek is back to his 14 on 7 off schedule!
