2013 Year

For us this year was full of do overs and new experiences.

We started the year off getting remarried in February. We picked a day and time that worked for just Derek and I which happened to be a half hour block between school getting out and soccer practice and we ran over to Wells Fargo bank on the second floor in an attorney's office. The secretary was our witness and a guy down the hall. We said our "i dos" in sweats in less than 15 minutes.

In March we found out I was pregnant! We tried for almost a year in 2010 and it never happened so we were thrilled that it happened so fast this time around. For spring break we went to Vegas with our friends. We new this would be one of our last trips "baby free" so we enjoyed not having to pack heavy or fill limited on what we could do. When we returned home we celebrated Easter and we got to share the news of our upcoming arrival with our family and friends!

We sold our Spoleto house in May and moved back in with Derek's parents in Green River while we waited for our new house to be built. Derek continued working at FMC but bid to a surface job rather then underground. He is now the stock pile operator which is a fancy way of saying he gets to drive a bull dozer and move a bunch of trona around. I finished my 4th year of teaching (2nd year at Rock Springs High School) and my second year of coaching girls soccer.

In June we moved into our new house, we worked hard on finishing the backyard landscaping and we even were able to start a garden and get some goods before the growing season was over. The summer consisted of Derek working, me organizing and decorating the new house, and on Derek's days off a little fishing, scouting for wildlife, and trips down to Utah to visit family and shop for baby!

Derek shot a deer this hunting season... his largest yet! He is getting the head mounted and I am letting him hang it on our living room wall!
(never in a million years did I ever think I would be okay with that)

But the most exciting day of the year was when Beckham came into our lives, November 7, 2013! He was 7 pounds 3 ounces and 19.75 inches.
It was a quick delivery, slow recovery, but worth every second!
WE LOVE OUR little FAMILY!
Speaking of little... Regan and Bailee are still doing well. They put on a little baby weight ;) so we'll have to work on that this summer.

2013 was good to us and we can't wait to
see what fun adventures await us in 2014!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Beckham's Birth Story

We have been home for almost 24 hours
but it seems like a whole lot longer.

The last 3 days have been a major blur
but I am excited to share Beckham's Birth Story:

This story begins in January when Derek and I decided we were ready to start a family. We found out we were pregnant at the end of February and the ETA was November 8, 2013. Fast forward through a lot of nausea, heartburn, tearful fights over silly things, roller coaster of emotions, and anticipation to November 6 when i went in for my 40 week check up. We went into this appointment with the attitude that nothing would be changed from last week and that i would have to carry the baby at least another week. So when the doctor checked me and told me I was dilated to a 3 and that he felt fine inducing me whenever I was in shock! He went to check his calendar and came back with the birth date for Beckham: Monday November 11 at 5am. We agreed that this would be great and headed home. We took the dogs for a short walk around white mountain but while walking we had to stop 3 different times to let the contractions pass. They were getting pretty bad, so we cut our walk short and headed home. While at home we ate some dinner and my contractions were still consistent so we downloaded an app so we could start timing them. They were about 7 minutes apart lasting 2 minutes in duration. I took some Tylenol and put a rice bag on my belly but just like clockwork my contraction was right on time. We went to the bedroom so I could lay down, but between dinner and the pain I was feeling, I started throwing up. Derek was such a trooper, cleaning up my messes and keeping track of the contraction times. After about an hour and a half my contractions were 5 minutes apart. I made a couple phone calls to friends/family who recently had babies and asked when they thought
I should leave... everyone said to go NOW!

When we got to the hospital my contractions were about 3 minutes apart and the most painful pains I had ever experienced in my whole life. The Nurse checked me and said I was dilated to a 3.5-4 and that she would call the anesthesiologist to come and give me an epidural. I called my mom down in Utah and she said she would head to Wyoming. My little sister Tlyncia skipped soccer practice and came straight to the hospital to be there with me. Derek's mom and dad came over from Green River and came to the hospital to see what they could do for us. We checked into the hospital around 8pm and I had my epidural in by 10pm. He had to stab me like 4 times to get it in the right spot. It was really hard to hold still through the contractions but Derek was able to keep me stable and eventually it was in and pumping medicine to my toes. After about 15 mins I couldn't feel my left leg and my right leg was pretty tingly.

My hospital room was pretty big. There was enough room for Derek, Tlyncia, Sandy, Deborah, and my friend Jessica. We all just visited, it was relaxing and fun. Tlyncia braided my hair and painted my fingernails. Jessica took some pre-birth pictures and we were all excited just waiting to see what would happen next. At about 2am the nurse came in and told us the plan. I was dilated to a 5 and she said she was just going to let my body progress naturally so maybe around 7 or 8am I would be ready to deliver. She recommended that we all get some rest until then. so everyone went home and me and derek said we would call them when i was dilated to an 8 and almost ready to deliver. It was about 2:15 when i fell asleep and at 2:30 I was getting woken up by a frantic nurse who grabbed the oxygen mask put it on my face and was rolling me back and forth yelling for the other nurse to get in here! I was freaking out and had no idea what was happening. Derek was following directions like a robot and my job was to take huge deep breaths. Apparently the babies heart beat had slowed from 130 to 60 and it was still dropping. The nurse started poking the baby in the head to try to get him to wake up when we heard the words... "oops, there goes your water! woah now you are a 7! Someone call the doctor we are having this baby now!" I started hyperventilating and shaking uncontrolably. The babies heart rate was back up in the 100's and the nurses were preparing the doctors station for delivery. Derek called everyone and told them to head back to the hospital. By 3:30am things had started to slow down a little bit. I was able to stop shaking, everyone was "in their places" ready to do whatever was needed during the delivery process. Derek had my left leg and Jelena (one of the other nurses) had my other. Starla was the doctor on call and there was another nurse there ready to clean and perform tests on the baby once he was born. The nurse checked me and was surprised to say that i was already at a 10 and the baby was in the +2 position. After one practice push he was crowning.

I let the doctor know that I was going to get the baby out in 3 pushes, then i changed it to 5 because even 5 pushes would make me a superstar, she agreed and the pushing began. 3 pushes later the head was out and one final push and the rest of his body. It took less then 20 minutes from the time the doctor walked in the room and when Beckham was placed on my chest. Derek cut the chord and at that moment we had an instant family bond that could be felt throughout the whole room. Everyone was crying and it was beautiful. Every aspect, every moment, every breath. It was the most amazing experience ever.

Maternity Photos

I am so excited to finally be able to get maternity photos.
I was always envious of all of my friends' baby bumps
and couldn't wait until the day when I would have my own.

My friend Estevia (anchorbluephotography.com) took them
for us in Rock Springs and edited some of them.

I am excited with how they turned out!
here are a few of my favorites:

Okay... that was more then a few :)

{ONE MORE WEEK TO GO}

Saturday, October 12, 2013

Dear Beckham:

Today you are 36+ weeks old. By the end of this week you will be a full term baby. Dad and I are so excited for your arrival and can't wait to meet you. Pregnancy has been a rollercoaster of feelings, emotions, energy, and exhaustion but we know you are worth every minute of it. Dad and I tried for almost a year to start our family in 2010-2011 but things did not work out. So after 2 months of trying in 2013 we knew you were meant to be, and we truly believe that Heavenly Father is sending you to us now for a special reason.

We pray that your birth will go smoothly with little or no complications and that you will be a healthy baby. We are excited for that moment when we get to see you for the first time and hear your little cry. I can't wait to hold you on my chest and feel your heart beat and listen to you breathe. I already love you so much and am so blessed to get to be your mom.

Your nursery is decorated with jungle animals and fun colors like blue, green, red, and orange. You've been spoiled by lots of friends and family members with clothes, toys, and other necessities. Regan and Bailee are noticing that things are changing and that they can't play with all the toys in the house anymore. We hope that the three of you learn to share and that you will love and protect each other.

As you grow older we hope that you will continue to be healthy. We want you to eat fruits and vegetables and to at least try all kinds of food so you will be able to be tall and strong like your dad. We hope to teach you responsibility and accountability at a young age. Since mom is a school teacher, i'll expect you to practice your colors, ABC's, and other pre-school lessons probably as soon as you can talk ;) We have very high hopes for you and will always be there to support and do all we can to help you grow.

When your in school we hope that you will be a good friend. That you will know that gossip is not good, to play nice with boys and girls, and to share. We hope that you will strive for excellence in all of your classes and try to get good grades. We hope that you learn that it is okay to ask for help and that giving up is never an option. We want you to excel in whatever you choose to do with your talents whether it be sports, music, or arts, and that no matter what we will always be in the front row cheering you on.

When you graduate high school we hope you have the desire to go on a full time mission and to have the opportunity to serve the Lord. We hope that as you've grown up that we have instilled in you church principles and the desire to do what is right at all times, in all things, and in all places. And when you return that you will be able to find a special woman to share the rest of your life with. It is strange to wish and think that for a son that I have yet to meet, but I am so grateful for your dad and the husband he is to me, that I hope you have the same happiness we share. And to know that what we have here on earth, we will have in Heaven, is so special.

I know there are times when we as parents will screw up, and there will be times where you will make mistakes, but we will always be a family that forgives and loves unconditionally. Beckham we love you and are so blessed to have you in our lives. A couple more weeks... until we meet.

Love,
Mom and Dad

September 2013

I have been in school for almost a month and it has definitely been an adjustment. This summer was the first summer that I wasn't enrolled in school or teaching summer school, so I became an excellent "housewife". I had a homemade dinner cooked almost every night, the house cleaned, yard work done, took the dogs on a walk, and ran 2-5 miles everyday :) Now that school has started there is not enough time in my day or energy in my body to do much more then to just come home and rest.

With hunting season starting Derek spends most of his days off up in the mountains chasing bucks with a bow and arrow. He has had quite a few chances which is awesome but hasn't been able to seal the deal just yet. So if you wonder why there is a trail of puppy prints that meander from the back door, under the kitchen table, around the island counter... that is the reason.
I am too tired and Derek is being a mountain man.

OH WELL...
it reminds me that pretty soon we will have actual little baby feet running around here before long. Give or take 8 weeks and baby BECKHAM will be here!
Lately I have actually enjoyed being pregnant. My acid reflux doesn't happen very often because I have learned smaller meals throughout the day help and I stay clear of foods that give me heart burn. It's been really fun feeling Beckham moving around and watching him from the outside. He really likes to sit low in my belly which is nice because I'd rather have him on my bladder then under my ribs. He stretches a lot! I can usually see and feel a leg or arm protruding out of the side of my stomach, so I try to massage it back in and he kicks me. He really likes music. When I am jamming out in my car he is right there with me. I swear he knows Derek's voice and responds to it and when Regan and Bailee barks he wakes up and starts moving around. I already have such a connection with him and think he is going to be the smartest best baby ever! I finally understand what people mean when they say they can't wait to meet their bundle of joy because he is so close, yet so far away.

8 weeks is going to fly and there are a couple things we have to get done before it gets closer. Derek needs to get his deer ASAP and I need to make sure I am ready to leave school for a couple months. Beckham's baby shower is coming up, which I am so excited for, then we can make our final baby purchases and just wait for his arrival :)

End of Summer [2013]

Today officially marks my last day of SUMMER.
It's FRIDAY and I have to go back to work starting MONDAY for trainings.

This SUMMER {like any other summer} has not had a
shortage of "TO DO" lists and I am happy to say we completed them ALL
with this last week to spare and enjoy one another's company!

Derek absolutely HATES to do lists but I made him sit down
with me in June and we wrote a list we wanted to complete this summer
so we would know when we could call it officially "DONE"!

Install Blinds
Hang Pictures/Décor
Guest Bedrooms
Unpack ALL Boxes
Shoe Racks
Pantry
Dog Run
Baby Room
Fence
Garden
Computer and Desk
Strawberry Planter Box
Backyard Sprinkler System
Backyard Sod

GARAGE SALE!

It feels so good to have it all done.
It finally feels like home!

Like I said before we had a WEEK to spare
which just so happened to be Derek's LONG CHANGE
so we made plans to spend the WHOLE week together.
 we celebrated my 26th BIRTHDAY...
 went FISHING at the GORGE...
MINIATURE GOLFING at TRAFALGA...
had a small BABY SHOWER in Utah...
we went to the REAL SALT LAKE game vs HOUSTON...
Had S'MORES and MOVIE NIGHT in the BACKYARD!

It is strange that when we were married before we did fun things together but it felt like we were doing them just to do them... now more than ever I really truly feel like I am married to my best friend and I love him more then anything in the this whole wide world. I want to spend every waking minute with him and it feels so great to finally have that relationship and make a family with someone you get to be with for eternity.

Today also marks one more important aspect of life... 3rd TRIMESTER
I am 28 weeks pregnant and have about 3 more months to go.
Derek and I started BIRTHING CLASSES and things seem to be going good.

I notice that when I EXERCISE daily I don't get
BACKACHES and RESTLESS LEG SYNDROME.
So living next to a track has been helpful :)

ONE LAST shout out goes to my puppies...
REGAN and BAILEE seriously are our babies we LOVE them so much.
They make us laugh, test our patience, and love to cuddle.
We are definitely going to have our hands FULL :)
