2 weeks already!!

I can't believe two weeks has passed already. Little Ollie has proved to be a great baby so far. He sleeps well at night, during the day..... basically that is all he does (unless he's peeing all over me- gotta love having a boy). But we sure do enjoy the 20 minutes he is awake everyday. Ladd has become a very affectionate big brother and I'm starting to think I prefer when he was a little more cautious. But Ollie is able to sleep through most of the affection.

I'm feeling great, mostly because my wonderful husband has been extra wonderful these past two weeks and because of our awesome ward and friends. I don't know how I would have survived the last 2 weeks without all the help we've received. We've hardly had to cook and someone has offered to take Ladd nearly every morning and then he takes a 3 hour nap in the afternoon. We are looking forward to having some family this week, but we are so appreciative of the overwhelming service we have already received.

Now for some eye-candy.

Coming home/ Ladd

We were anxious to get home from the hospital after our one night stay. We stopped at Target on the way home to buy some essentials and a gift from baby to Ladd. We then anxiously picked up Ladd from our friends. I think Doug and I were a little apprehensive about how Ladd would react to our new addition. We placed the newly purchased dog on top of the car seat Ollie was sitting in and told Ladd it was a present for him from Ollie- his new brother. I'm not sure how much of it Ladd understood, but he immediately took a liking to his new dog and quickly named him Oddie, which strikingly sounds a lot like Ollie. Hmmm...
Ladd was still a little cautious of Ollie for the first couple of days, but has warmed up to him and all of the new baby gear.

Every morning the first thing Ladd says in the morning is "Where's Ollie?" and "Way cup Ollie!" I think this is the beginning of beautiful relationship between my boys.

But the picture below is more realistic of our everyday reality. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that Ladd doesn't teach Ollie all his naughty tricks.

Happy one week!

Here are a few new pics of our little boys - one is easier to take pictures of than the other!

Ladd found this scarf and wouldn't take it off the entire night. We dropped him off at our friends while we ran a few errands and he still had it on when we got back.

Oliver - Day 2

Thought I'd post of few more pics of the new little guy. They change so much and so quick in the first few days! He and Darci are still doing really well. Ollie got cleared to leave this morning and Darci is getting checked in the next few hours - so we could be home tonight!

I thought it would be fun to see a pic of Ladd from the day he was born. I can't wait to see these two wrestle around like little otters in our living room!

Oliver!

Well, he's already keeping us on our toes! Ollie arrived today (16 days early) at 4:10pm weighing in at 7lbs 10oz and 20.5 in long.

After 13 hours of waiting it took just 3 contractions and 1o min for him to get here (I know, I'm making it sound way easier than it really was). But, this was much easier than our last little guy. I'm sure we'll have a life full of posts about Ollie, so without further ado, here he is...

(Darci - I can't believe you just had a baby, you look amazing!!)

Here he comes....

Darci and I are at the North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN waiting for our new addition. All is well right now - the epidural is working it's magic. We'll get an update out as soon as we can!

Candid

I'm not sure if most kids have mastered posing for pictures by 20 months, but Ladd doesn't have a clue how to smile on command. But I guess it makes it easier to get some candid shots. Doug took Ladd out in his parents backyard for a 30 second photo shoot and I loved every shot he got. This kid cracks me up! Sorry for the overload of pictures, but I honestly loved every single one.

While we were there...

During our short visit we had lots of time to visit with family. Ladd especially loved playing with his cousin Addison. She is one year older, but she adored Ladd and would follow him around giggling and copying everything he did and of course he loved it. I've honestly never seen two toddlers play so well together.
And we got to meet the newest Timothy! Kristin Timothy was nearly two weeks old and just as beautiful as we imagined. Congrats Adam & Shauna!

Grandma Reah

My dear, sweet grandma passed away last week. We were blessed to be able to travel to Utah last week to attend her funeral. She was such an amazing woman as you can read below in her obituary. We sure do miss her, but she left behind a wonderful legacy that will be remembered always and we look forward to being reunited with her one day.

Reah Oliver Ressler 5/10/1923 ~ 2/11/2009 ROY - Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Reah Oliver Ressler, passed away on February 11, 2009 in Ogden, Utah surrounded by her loving family. If Reah met someone once, he was a friend; if she met someone twice he was family and most likely received a homemade quilt. She is a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Reah was born on May 10, 1924 in South Jordan, Utah to Gilbert Josiah Oliver and Iline June Rindlisbacher. In 1930 the family moved to Anaconda, Montana where she attended school. In Anaconda, she met her husband of nearly 68 years, Peter J Ressler. They were married on May 27, 1941 in Boulder, Montana. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden LDS Temple on May 27, 1995. Four children were born in Montana, after which the family moved to Roy, Utah where they have resided for 60 years. Six more children followed in Roy as well as 46 grandchildren, 96 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Including spouses, her posterity currently numbers over 200. She knew and loved each one, and they knew she loved them through kind words, kisses, hugs and acts of service. Reah was a faithful member of several Roy Wards. She served in numerous callings, but will especially be remembered for over 30 years as Stake Girls Camp Director. She worked as an office assistant to Dr. Leon H. White, pediatrician, for nearly 25 years. She loved her calling in the Ogden Temple and her service in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Reah is survived by a faithful and loving husband, Peter J Ressler and by nine children, Boyd (Jan) Ressler, Susan (Nick) Howes, Holly (Larry) Everton, Chris Ressler, Judy (Emmett) Daugherty, Pam (Randy) Woodall, Coral Taggart, Ardene (Lonnie) Bullard, and Arlene (Rob) Racker. Also survived by brothers, Max, Robert, and Norman Oliver, sisters, Shirla Montgomery and Bonnie Openshaw. Preceded in death by siblings Don Oliver, Beth Spraycar and Lillie Zito, a son Laurie, a son-in-law Gary Taggart, grandchildren Daren Ressler and Shay Taggart and two great-grandchildren Kilee Huffaker and McKenzie Schultz. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 16, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Roy 23rd Ward, 5930 South 2200 West, Roy. Friends and family may call on Sunday at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Playday

This week is turning into a long week (I guess that's what happens when you don't leave your house 3 days in a row), so we were lucky to have a nice break at play group this morning. Who'd have guessed that we had a huge indoor field house just 3 miles from our home? Knowing this should make the next couple of months a little more bearable. Ladd had such a great time. He wasn't at all wary of the big kids jumping in the blow-up jumpy thing. I'd like to blame Ladd on the big traffic jam we caused as we slowly climbed up the over sized blow-up slide, but I'm pretty sure everyone could tell that it was his hugely prego mommy. Other than playing on the blow-up toys Ladd enjoyed running up and down the field as fast as he could. Doug, do you think we can have an indoor field in our next house?- his climbing toy just isn't cutting it:)

Bedrooms, beds, and babies

Just as a warning this may be a lengthy post. We've been very busy here in the Timothy household trying to prepare for another little one. I've definitely been in full nesting mode, but the list of things to get done seems endless. This past week we were able to paint the nursery and Ladd's new room. These pictures didn't turn out the best of the nursery, but they will have to do.
We did blue stripes in the nursery.

And Ladd's new room has an vintage airplane theme. We painted one wall blue and the others tan. I'll post more pictures once I'm closer to being finished with all the finishing touches, but for now I'm satisfied with paint. Doug also enjoyed painting the map on Ladd's wall. I'm so glad I married someone creative because I don't have a creative bone in me.

We also took the plunge yesterday and made Ladd's crib into a toddler bed. We have put a lot of thought into how to help him transition into a normal bed before the baby comes and we usually end up just laughing and giving up before even starting. Ladd did really well last night. He went right to sleep and didn't get out of his bed until 3:30 am when I heard him talking in loft. I rocked him for a couple of minutes and he went right back to bed until 7:45 this morning. I couldn't believe it. This afternoon nap didn't go as smoothly. He's sound asleep in his pack'n'play as I type. I gave up after he tore all his clothes out of his dresser and wouldn't stop yapping or playing with his bedroom door for two hours.

Ladd said his first sentence two weeks ago and no it wasn't "I love you" (which we've been working on) instead he said"Where's your phone?". Almost as daily ritual I have Doug call my cell phone that I have lost in our home sometime during the day. Sometimes I can blame it on Ladd because he loves to walk around jabbering on the phone and making hysterical facial expressions. This sentence was soon followed by "Where's the spoon?". His vocabulary is starting to really take flight as you can see in this video:

He's also taken a sudden interest in babies. Of course he doesn't own any dolls, but he sure has fun with his frog. Warning- this movie is only for grandparents or anyone else wanting to submit themselves to over two minutes of Ladd playing.

Big Family

Over Christmas we had family pictures taken for the first time in 5 years.  It wasn't easy with 19 people, but by awesome cousin Shannon managed to get some great pictures.  Here's her blog.

It's hard to believe our family started with just these two.  What a cute couple! I love you mom and dad!

In case any of you haven't seen my in a while and have forgotten I'm pregnant, I thought I'd post this picture.  Only two months left!

I'm not sure I could have posed in any position to make me look any bigger.  I need to work on that.  Ladd still hasn't caught on to the fact that he's going to be a big brother.  He points to my belly all the time and says "ball".  I'm glad he hasn't learned the word fat.  I feel even huger than my last pregnancy if that is possible.  A lady at church said that I looked like I was going to burst.  I can't imagine what I'm going to look like in two more months.

The Minnesota Spider

I take Ladd to ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) class every week. One of the songs they teach the kids to sing is "The Minnesota Spider" set to the music of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider".
The lyrics go like this:

The Minnesota spider went up the water spout.
Down came the snow and froze the spider out.
Out came the sun and it didn't do a thing.
And the Minnesota spider stayed frozen until Spring.

This is a reality today. I'm thinking we are going to skip class today with the temperature being -20 degrees and it feels like -37. Anyone want to come visit?! Only 70 more days until Spring!

Last week we took advantage of a sunny warm day (20 degrees)and played in the snow with Ladd's friend Abby. I love that their levels of enjoyment are very apparent.

I guess Ladd is still an Arizona baby.

We've been initiated...

into parenthood. It started at 3 am this morning. I was half-sleeping (another joy of being uncomfortably pregnant)and heard Ladd cough a couple of times. He then started crying and jumping in his bed. Doug offered to get him (Awesome husband- I love you!!). A couple of minutes later I hear lots of commotion in Ladd's room and go to check on him. Ladd's bedding and clothing had all been removed and he was laying sweetly on the changing table. Doug explained that when he went to get Ladd to pick him up, Ladd routinely handed him his blankie and as Doug tossed it on his shoulder he felt something wet brush his cheek. Then Ladd handed him his other blankie and Doug tossed it on his other shoulder and once again was slimed by something on his cheek. I'm guessing by the time he picked Ladd up he could smell the awful vomit that was covering his face.
The rest of the night was kind of a blur, but I do remember scrubbing the carpet several times, 3 loads of laundry, huge blowout diapers, 5 baths, 5 pajama changes and Ladd throwing up on my face. Poor little guy!

Christmas Vacation

We spent our Christmas in Utah with family and had a great time. Ladd had a blast playing, chasing, laughing and kissing cousins. Luckily he was so worn out at the end of each day he slept in until 9 or 10 most mornings.

Our first Saturday there we had a party with my family. Notice anything strange about this picture? Doug really wanted to play the part of Joseph in the Nativity. He did a great job with the rest of the grand kids!!

We were excited to be able to play in the snow in the warmer weather. Doug couldn't find a sled so he ended up taking Tara's snowboard. I couldn't quite tell if Ladd liked it or not.

Ladd spying on Dad having fun without him.

No way was he going to sit this one out.

On Christmas Eve at the Timothy family Christmas party, Ladd was thrilled to find someone that would hold his hand.

Four generations of Timothy's- Doug, Ladd, Grandpa Brad, and Great-Grandma Billey (Ladd is named after great-grandma's husband Laddie Weston).

Christmas morning we opened presents with Doug's family and enjoyed a yummy breakfast before heading up to Heber with my parents. The drive there and back were horrendous and my dad thoroughly enjoyed my backseat driving. We spent the day at my sister Rachel's house with my whole family. Ladd was pretty pooped from all the presents and enjoyed cuddling up next to Savannah and watching Barney while the adults played Celestial Mates. What a wonderful Christmas!!!
