Dance it OFF!

Okay... So, I already like mondays.

 Some people hate them.  

But I don't mind them. 

 I like my job so going back to work is not that bad.  I think FHE is fun.  And the night always finishes off watching the Bachelorette. 

Who could ask for more?  

Well... my monday nights just got SO much better.  

Let me introduce you to my new favorite TV show. 

 Dance Your A$$ Off. 

 It is a combination of two the best TV shows SYTYCD (which I am also loving currently) and the Biggest Loser.  The premise of the show is contestants are trying to lose weight while participating in a dance competition. 

 It is just so great for so many reasons.

Alicia-257 pounds: 

Drops it like its hot and then finishes the number in the splits. 

Warren-357 pounds: 

Does the running man to the song jump around.

There are not words that could express how I was feeling while watching this show. So many emotions all at once happiness, embarrassment, shock, etc.  I can hardly wait to watch the Soup to hear what Joel McHale has to say about this show... 

there is just WAY too much good material.

Trapped in the 80's

Tonight was 80's prom and as you know... I love the 80's.  My date and I chose to forgo the usual shoulder pads and sequence and went for more of the butt-rock look.  Think Linda and Robbie Heart.  Here is a preview of the night... and of what a night...

One night after watching SYTYCD my roommate ME and I were talking about how much we adore Tabitha and Napoleon  and their relationship.  That got us talking about what the perfect relationship would consist of and this is what we decided...

 its 1:41 AM on sunday night (or monday morning... how ever you want to look at it) and i should be sound asleep dreaming of sunny days and watermelon shakes...

Last weekend a few friends and I met up with a  Julia and  few of her friends from Arizona and we hiked Havasupai.  It was so awesome.  

Loved the hike, loved the waterfall, loved the people, loved everything.

Today I would like to give a shout out to the worlds most optimistic and unconditionally loving Father.  

I have learned so much from you over the years both by the things that you say and the way you live your life.  You are an inspiration and an example to me of someone that lives and loves the gospel, their family, and their life.  

There are three major lessons that have had a significant effect on my life over the past 26 years from you Dad. And they can all be summed up in a few short phrases that I would like to share with the rest of the internet. 

1.  Organizations (and people) are perfectly designed to get the results that they get.  So if you want to change the results... change the behavior.  

In simpler terms:

 "If you always do what you've always done. You'll always get what you always got."  

2.  The Lord is bound when we do what he says.  When we do not what he says we have NO promise.  Or as I once heard... When we do not what he says "good luck-we are on our own"

Lastly, 

3.  A clean room is NOT the most important thing. 

(that was me teaching my Dad at the young age of early childhood the priorities in my life... somethings never change.)

Tonight, after I celebrated the engagement of two couples that I am ever so fond of, I danced the night away at Oceans with some of Orange County's finest YSA.  

And on the way home I was thinking to myself...

Dirty Dancing

Back in the winter time I introduced you guys to my friend Jessica.  She is seriously awesome. One day we were chatting it up and realized that not snowboarding was not the only thing we had in common but that he also both loved fine arts... especially the theater.  With that said we started talking about shows that we wanted to see that were coming to LA.  I did a little research and found that Dirty Dancing was playing at the Pantages.  So we took a little road trip up to LA and watched one of the greatest movies of all time be acted out on the stage.  

It was awesome!  The play followed the movie exactly, including the line "No one puts Baby in the corner." after which the crowd went wild.  The dancing was incredible and singing was almost as good.   Next on the list of reasons to head to LA "Fiddler on the Roof"  followed by "The Grinch."  Oh I can't wait! 

White out

 A few weekends ago some friends from South County were throwing a birthday party on a Yacht.  The theme was "White Out"  and everyone was asked to wear all white.  The boat was awesome with three floors.  One being a lounge area fully equipped with a piano and all. Second floor (and the only one I really stayed on) was the dance floor.  And the third floor was an open air where people could sit and view the sights of newport harbor and gaze at a star or two.  

On my mind

I have had a lot of free time lately. Post school ending I have so much time that I almost miss being busy with school. You would think that I would love the free time... well I do... but the sun has been hiding this week and when the sun hides I turn lazy.

So here are a few things that have been occupying my time and mind:

1. The Hills finale.

Go ahead. Judge away. I don't really care. It is one of my many guilt pleasures. I love to sit infront of the TV for a half an hour, or 15 minutes thanks to TiVo, and lose myself in the life of some of the most ridiculous people on the face of the earth. I love to hate Spiedi, Speidi's sister(s), and of course, Justin Bobby. I have a few things to say about these people.

Spencer= I secretly like you. I know everyone else hates you... but I think you are great in your own horrible person kind of way. You are real. And that is something that you don't find in most people, especially people on your show. You don't hide who you really are and you don't care that most people think the "real you" sucks. So i say... keep doing what you are doing. It at least gives me entertainment monday nights for 6 months out of the year.

Heidi= You were once a good person. You looked normal and probably were normal. Now you are Barbie to the max. Your hair is ridiculous. And your wedding jewelry looked awful... yes... it was too much.

Speidi=You two couldn't be more perfect for each other. It really gives me hope that there really is someone for everyone.

Justin Bobby= Its true, you need to take a shower or 5 but I think deep down you are just a tortured soul who needs a few good years of therapy.

You can't blaim him for his relationship with Adrina. He doesn't know better... he is loving her in the only way he knows how. I am not giving him excuses... it is still unacceptable. But I also understand why Adrina goes back to him. She shouldn't and I am proud of her for making the progrss she has. I think there is a lot more to their relationship that we don't see.

Stephanie= You are not smart. That is all.

Lauren= All these people are famously rich because of you. Especially Spencer, and he doesn't give you any credit for his fame and fortune it. Besides that... good move on leaving the show. It was time. And quite frankly you were boring and there really wasn't anything to watch in your life.

Kristin= Welcome back to TV. I am excited to see what drama you cause.

April= You need to get a life.

2. I really like to bake. Cookies, bread, whatever. Yesterday I made homemade Jam and Bread. And it made me very happy.

3. My room is finally coming together. I got a new dresser and desk and am finally organizing everything. And I am going to Home Goods today. I love that store. Pictures to come.

4. Lakers. I live in Southern California and I cannot wait for the finals to be over. I am so over this basketball season and everyone obsessing over the Lakers. People are crazy fanatics down here. I am glad that people are passionate about something... but enough is enough.

5. Lastly, I love Alanis Morissette.

Memorial Weekend

For memorial weekend my peeps from AZ came out to check out what the OC was all about. I was happy to play cruise director and we had a weekend full of fun.

It all started on Saturday morning when everyone we had arrived and we headed to Irvine's Great Park in order to ride the Great Balloon. I had tried to do this numerous times with my family and work friends and every time have been denied due to weather issues. So I was super excited that it worked out.

After riding the Balloon we headed over to The Counter where we ate custom made hamburgers. After lunch and a pit stop at yogurtland, we headed to HB where they hit up the sidewalk sales and took a small peak at the AVP tour.

That evening we did something I have wanted to do ever since the show Newport Harbor (whatever happened to that show??) was on air and that is take a Duffy Boat into the Harbor. We grabbed some strawberries, chips, and a few bottles of bubbly (relax... it was just sparkling cider) and took our tour of Balboa area via boat while watching a beautiful sunset.

That night we headed up to LA to watch Comedy Sportz. I swear... that is my favorite place. I think its soo funny! I was dying laughing the whole time.

Sunday we worshipped as usual followed by a delicious dinner. Then we took the herds down to Crystal Cove to walk off the Sunday feast and enjoy the sights and sounds of a sunset over the ocean. Sometime I REALLY love where I live.

That night was fun filled with games... another favorite activity of mine. It was confirmed once again that I am the WORST liar and Mafia is just not the game for me.
Monday morning we gathered a bunch of rackets up and headed over to CDM high for a tennis tourney, followed by a basketball bash. The morning games were followed by lunch at the one and only Cafe Panini (another favorite) and then we spent the afternoon soaking up some rays at CDM beach.

I seriously love the AZ crew. They are some of my favorite people ever. Playing cruise director was also amazing because I got to plan all my favorite activities. So honestly who could have asked for a better weekend? I was with some of my favorite people, doing my favorite things, in some of my favorite places!
