I've avoided blogging because I like to do things all or nothing. I either want to blog everyday and record everything that we're doing or just not blog at all.
A brief recap of what's been going on with us:
David and I enjoyed a week-long trip to Charlottesville, Virginia the last week of June. We had a GREAT time! We made some good connections with different farmers there and other people in the local food scene. We made some new friends and got to hang out with some old Waco friends that live there now. We also celebrated David's 30th birthday in C-Ville. We had such a fun time together! The next step is to move there as soon a good job opens up.
David found three jobs here in Houston for the time-being. He is the organic plant specialist at Wabash, he is a ranch-hand for a man in Crosby, and he is taking care of the garden for the restaurant Patrenellas.
There are usually at least 2 neighbor kids over at the house each day. Plus the Jone's three boys and my three. I have learned to cherish trips to HEB by myself or with just one or two kids more than ever! We take turns buying groceries each week. So I've had to learn how to plan meals and buy enough food for 10 people.
Toby and Abel the 7 year old, are butting heads lately. Plus Toby is very emotional and full of energy. He went from being the oldest kid and entertaining the younger kids around him for laughs to being one of the youngest. So the older kids don't think all his jokes are hilarious, he doesn't know how to play XBOX as well as them and he isn't the leader anymore. So...he is learning to adjust. I've found myslef stressed out trying to handle all of that. Thankfully our friends the Jones are great parents and full of practical wisdom. So we've been able to ask them for advice and discuss our parenting techniques. I took Toby out on a date a few weeks ago. We had lots of fun and bonded. That was good for us. I had been not enjoying his company and then feeling horrible that I didn't want to be around him or know how to deal with him. Our date really helped us like each other again. We ate Pho Soup together and then he told me jokes and cracked me up over some ice cream. I have been reading the book, Boundaries for Kids. And it is amazing! Hands down, the best parenting book that I've ever read. I plan to blog more about what I'm learning from later.
Asha is awake now and the big kids are telling me that it smells like poop near her door...

The Scoop from Houston
Well friends, we moved! It was a long, hard, emotional and exhausting process, but we made it. We are spending the summer with our dear friends the Jones in Houston.
It has been wonderful being here! The kids are playing so well together and having lots of fun. I love having friends here to spend the day with. David and I like to cook and they prefer to clean so we have a sweet deal set up!

Asha is getting lots of love these days. Kisses, hugs, fed and carried whether she wants it or not!
David and the two bigs got this puzzle together on Father's Day. Everyone in the house has been working on it. And finally today we finished it!
Nanny
We recently have gotten to spend some time with Nanny, David's mom's mom. She is so wonderful to be around. I love that Toby & Elliana have a relationship with her. Every time I'm with her I can't help but think about how much she has seen and experienced in her life. She raised her own two kids, then watched and helped them both raise theirs. And now she is loving on our kids!
