Featured Stamper CASE

LeeAnn Barrett is the Featured Stamper chosen on Splitcoaststampers! Big congrats to a very talented stamper with an incredible gallery! I chose THIS CARD to CASE and changed colors, focal point, type of fiber texture, etc.

This was my first attempt at inking up the Joyful Jars stamp set recently released by Ink to Paper (formerly Papertrey Ink).  There is a huge coordinating die set -Tag Creations: Joyful Jars - that I will admit was a bit overwhelming when I first saw all the similar tiny dies. I watched a helpful video - you can see it HERE - by Ashley Newell.  I started by separating all the dies and grouping them on a magnet sheet which was VERY
helpful! I added a layer of clear acetate that makes the jar look more realistic. I stamped the jar with Soft Sky ink by SU and used Soft Sky CS for the jar label. I added yellow Stickles to the centers of the lavender flowers. Patterned papers are from the Pretty Posy 6x6 pad by FSC. When I do these dies
again, I will use more contrasting shades of green. The details don't show up as well with what I used. There are also very helpful flower assembly photos in color that I printed and added to the die storage. You can find those HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by...

Brushed Blossom

I thought I'd check out the Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS and discovered a great gallery by the FS, Donna Idlet!  I CASEed her care HERE...a clean and simple design with the base as the frame and a corner collage as the focal point.  I used WPlus9 Pure Color inks: Sweet Gelato, Cranberry Crush, Appletini, and Silver Lining.  I stamped the Memento Tuxedo Black sentiment twice using my MISTI.  I layered the matching Brushed Blossom die over the stamped images - from the Brushed Blossom set by Concord and 9th.  Quick and easy!

Easter Blessings

Wishing each of you a happy and blessed Easter!  John 3:16 pretty well sums up the holiday in a nutshell.  We have hope in a living Christ!

I wanted to create a quick Easter card using some elements from my leftover stash. I went to the Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS and found that Jenn Shurkus is in the limelight this week and was thrilled to find so many gorgeous cards in her gallery! I was especially blown away by this gorgeous watercolored BG found on this card!  I CASEed her use of white on primarily pink and green and changed up the sentiment to gold instead of black.  The cross was die cut from a leftover panel that was embossed with white texture paste using a Tweed Pattern stencil by Hero Arts.  The sweet flower is a new posy die set by Lil' Inker Designs.

STAMPS: Rejoice (Simon Says Stamp).
PAPER: Tim Holtz Watercolor CS, Old Olive, Hello Sunshine bye Doodlebug Design Inc., Metallic gold CS, Neenah Bright White.
INK: Picked Raspberry and Crushed Olive distress inks; Versamark.
DIES: Stitched rectangle and Perky Posies die sets by Lil' Inker Designs; Easter and Cross set dies by Simon Says Stamp.

Essentially

To church and then out for lunch at our favorite local Italian restaurant (best stuffed shells ever!) before hitting my stamp room to play with some new rubber.  Football playoffs in the background and I'm getting inky with some awesome new stamps from Impression Obsession!  I have been searching the internet for months to find images that I could use with a recent passion of mine - using essential oils!  When none were to be found, I made a suggestion to Dina Kowal - designer and oil lover - and she went with it and designed a set of stamps called Essentially - along with a number of individual stamps that coordinate with the set: Drops and Dropping In are two singles that I used.  Woohoo!  I LOVE the images and sentiments with the awesome fonts!  I went to SCS to check out the Featured Stamper challenge for inspiration.  They are highlighting the gallery of Gunilla.holmqvist and what a talented stamper!  I chose the colors she used in this card for my watercolor background... using Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron distress inks on Tim Holtz
watercolor cardstock.  The oil bottles were colored with Copics.  I white embossed the droplets using Stampendous Detail White EP prior to added the distress inks.  The bottles were fussy cut and popped with foam tape.
DIES: Stitched rectangle (Lil' Inker Designs); Stitched Fishtail Flags STAX Die-Namics by MFT.
PAPER: Hawaiian Shores, Limeade Ice, and White by PTI.

CASEing Laine Webb

Today's Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS is showcasing Crafterlaine's gallery and what a beautiful gallery it is!!  Her card HERE really jumped out at me and though I didn't include as many mixed media details, I was inspired by the awesome background and the blues mixed with greens!  I decided to use the smooshing technique on my card and added Blueprint Sketch and Peacock Feathers distress inks to Tim Holtz watercolor CS - drying each color with a heat gun before adding another.  A layered snowflake - die cut from vellum and white CS and topped off with a SU Frosted Finishes embellishment - was placed over two banner flags.

DIES: Stitched rectangle die - Lil' Inker Designs
           Hand Lettered Holiday - WPlus9
           Snowflake Trio - WPlus9

It's a mild day here in VA...up to 59 degrees.  Am wishing I could stay in my stamp room, but duty calls and I'm headed out to work!

CASEing Kimberly

Well, it's raining in Homestead and the Nascar race is on hold, so that means I have time to CASE one of Kimberly VanDiepen aka mkkimber's cards on SCS! She's today's Featured Stamper and has a beautiful gallery to check out! I was immediately drawn to this card on her first gallery page! It gave me the push to finally ink up this stamp that I've had for almost a year. I stamped the image twice - first with Evergreen Bough then with Pine Needles distress inks. The stamp is part of the Tim Holtz Collection by Stampers' Anonymous.  I then cut 2 circles and topped it with a vellum banner with a sentiment from my new favorite die set by Reverse Confetti: Winter Words Confetti Cuts!

I'm going to share my license plate photo which is a dead giveaway of my favorite Nascar driver! (grin)

Ironically, I bought my CRV in July of 2014 then went with a personalized plate for the first time...only to be greeted with the news a few months later that Jeff Gordon would no longer be racing after this season. :-(  He has a chance at winning the championship, so all my fingers and toes are crossed right now - lol!

Layered Butterflies

I started my card with combining the Retrosketches Challenge with the colors from the Fusion Card Challenge then needed to decide on what embellishments to use. I checked SCS for the Featured Stamper Challenge and saw it was the talented sue28 who uses layered DP with many of her
butterfly creations, so that's what I went with.  Papers are from an old Stella and Rose "Mabel" pad by MME and layered on a white 5 1/2" square CS base.

STAMPS: Rainbow and Cloud Sentiments (Lil Inker Designs)
INK: Chocolate Chip
ACCESSORIES: Awesome word die, stitched butterfly dies by Lil Inker Designs; Fishtail Flags and Button Die-Namics by MFT; Jute twine; Adhesive rhinestones.

CASEing Penny

This was such a fun card to create - playing with some new Reverse Confetti stamps and dies! I am CASEing one of Penny Ward's cards from her gallery on SCS - check it out here. She's the new Featured Stamper and you'll want to check out her awesome gallery if you haven't done so yet! I'm also playing along with Reverse Confetti's March Color Challenge - love these fresh, happy colors!

I loved the way Penny created a vertical frame using a sentiment.  Of course, I had to use my fave tag die - layered up with an embossed navy flag, yellow arrow and some fun posies and leaves - all dies by RC!

STAMPS: Petals 'n Posies (Reverse Confetti).
PAPER: Kate & Co "Oxford Lane" by MME, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight, White.
INK: Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade.
ACCESSORIES: Tag, arrow, posies, leaves - dies by Reverse Confetti; Brad; Rhinestones (SU).

Corner Collage

SS and church...beef stew, homemade rolls and baked apples for lunch...then some lazy stamping time in the afternoon! The sun is out and it's not so miserably cold...love this day!  Today's Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS is honoring Mynnette (aka stamping_Mynn).  I cased her card HERE.  I'm also playing along with Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge...LOVE her sketches!

I used splatters and sequins to echo Mynn's circle elements.  For the sparkle element, I went with some Wendy Vecchi metallic gold embossing paste which adds so much fun dimension and sheen!  I first stamped the script background by only inking up a portion of the BG stamp with Vintage Photo distress ink.  I then stamped the floral image in Peacock Feathers ink, then added the embossing paste with a fern stencil by TCW.  Some grunge splatters in Lucky Limeade, a hello die (Simon Says Stamp) in Early Espresso, a fussy cut stamped washi tape image from SU's Tape It set, and some Lucky Blend sequins by Avery Elle complete this fun to create freestyle collage card!

STAMPS: Tape It (SU), Gorgeous Grunge (SU), French Script (SU), Nature's Moments (Tim Holtz).

CASEing Doni

SCS Featured Stamper today is donidoodle! Doni has a fabulous gallery filled with clean, layered creations.  I chose her card HERE to CASE and used two different patterned papers in the background separated with a border as she did.  This is a sneak peek of a new set - Bless Your Heart - that will be released by Our Daily Bread Designs on Feb. 1.  I love this ornate heart which I stamped in Coastal Cabana ink then immediately embossed with clear EP.  The sentiment is a commonly heard expression here in VA, so I couldn't resist using it.  I added some shimmer to the little heart by painting over it with a clear Wink of Stella shimmer brush pen.  The key charm is by 7 Gypsies.  Be sure and visit my blog again on Wednesday for more samples of new ODBD release goodies!

STAMPS: Bless Your Heart (ODBD) - will be available Wednesday!
PAPER: Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, White, Fresh Prints DP by SU
INK: Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar
ACCESSORIES: Heart die by ODBD (part of a group of nesting heart dies that will be in the new release on Feb. 1), Corner chomper, Avery Elle sequins, Ribbon by SU, Jute twine, Charm by 7 Gypsies.

Sketchbook Saturday Sketch

This card is a CASE of today's SCS Featured Stamper - rebeccadeeprose - whose card HERE inspired me. It also fits Chupa's current Sketchbook Saturday Challenge, so it's a two for one special! :-)  I took a very literal interpretation with the layout and used these leafy dies by Cheery Lynn Designs then added some satin roses using medium glue dots.  The sentiment was a complimentary freebie stamp from PTI that I never inked up and have had for a very long time.  I was happy for these challenges, so I could finally use it.

PAPER: Soft Sky (SU), True Black and Soft Stone (PTI).

CASEing Andrea Hayes

Today's Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS is highlighting stampinandrea aka Andrea Hayes. She has a fabulous artsy CAS style to her cardmaking and I decided to CASE this gorgeous card HERE.  I used some watercolor crayons and scribbled 5 different colors on 90 lb. watercolor paper, then took an Aquapainter and scribbled over the crayon markings.  I'm also playing along with the Retrosketches Challenge blog.  This is week #52 and we have the option to choose any sketch over the past year, so I picked RS#9.  Another quick and easy card!

STAMPS: Small Celebrations (Verve)
ACCESSORIES: Chloe Stem die by Memory Box, Baker's twine by Pinkpaislee, Tiny tags die by PTI, Brad, Reeves watercolor crayons.

CASEing Wendy

For today's Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS...the talented Wendy aka Nin Nin has some rockin' coloring skills going on in her gallery! Wow, so much inspiration, but I finally chose THIS CARD for my CASE.  I changed it to an A2 rather than square card, changed the theme from sports to Valentine's day and flip flopped the hearts to the opposite corner.  A co-worker requested a Winnie the Pooh Valentine for a grand-daughter, so I printed a Google image then colored with Copics.  I covered the leaf that was part of the image with a couple of hearts.  I think this finishes up my list for Valentines, but since I' love using hearts so much, you will probably see them used year round in some shape or form!

STAMPS: Hearts of Fire (Verve) - sentiment
PAPERS: On the Sunny Side pad by MME, Vintage Cream, Neenah Solar White
ACCESSORIES: Postage Nestie, Button, Triple heart punch by SU, Rhinestones, Button, Fishtail Flags STAX Die-Namics by MFT, Copics.

DH, DD and I had a fun afternoon driving about an hour south of us to meet our son and his girlfriend in Lynchburg, VA.  We had lupper at Olive Garden (we met at 3:00 so that's too late for lunch and too early for supper - lol).  DD had only 3 hours of sleep after working graveyard shift at the hospital, so she couldn't tolerate eye makeup today! :-)  Mark's long locks will be history as of Thursday!  He has finally decided to get a haircut!  Woohoo!

Seaside Window

I needed a birthday card for my BIL tomorrow and decided to browse the gallery of Bonnie (aka Bon2stamp), the Featured Stamper on SCS this week, for my inspiration. She had a window card HERE that spurred me to create this beach scene. My BIL and his wife vacation every year at Myrtle Beach, so thought he would love a beachy card.  Had to dig into my SU "archives" for this oldie but goodie set.  Colored it with Copics and die cut some grass using 2 different shades of green in my scrap pile.  Some jute twine and a silver charm topped it off.  I used a cloud stencil to sponge some Soft Sky ink onto the sky, but it doesn't show up too well in the photo.

Here's what I used:
STAMPS: Lighthouse (SU)
PAPER: Neenah Solar Crest White, X-Press It Blending Card
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black, Soft Sky
ACCESSORIES: Square Lattice EF by SU; Grand Madison die, Grand flower box die and Grassland border die - all by Poppystamps; Jute twine, Silver charm, Copics

CASEing Lynn

I created this card for 3 different challenges on Splitcoaststampers:
Featured Stamper - this week it's Lynn (allee's) who has a fabulous gallery and is such a great inspiration with her many challenge cards!
CAS - Color Challenge: Ruby red, Kiwi Kiss, Bermuda Bay, Chocolate Chip
Technique Lover's Challenge - Let the inside of the card show.

I cased this rose card to honor Lynn and die cut the roses and some of the leaves using PTI's matching dies to the Rosy Posy stamp set.  Sentiment inside and out is from Verve's Doodled Occasions set.  Paper is Lost & Found Two pad by MME.  I cut below the chocolate chip border (cut using Verve's Flourished Trim die) to let the inside DP show through to the front.

Yikes!  It's almost 1 AM and I need to get to bed!  Good night all!

CASEing Jen

It's a lazy Sunday afternoon and perfect for a bit of stamping! I decided to create another Christmas card and I got my inspiration from today's featured stamper, Jen Mitchell! I chose to CASE her card HERE.  I kept the rich colors and basically the same layout, but used a Christmas theme instead.

What else did I use?
STAMPS: Merry Wishes (Verve)
PAPER: Cottage Wall DP by SU, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, White
INK: Versafine Onyx Black, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry
ACCESSORIES: Corner Chomper, Poinsettia dies by SB, Adhesive glitter dots, Picot Edge Circle Nesties, Fishtail Flags Die-Namics by MFT.

Owl Be! Mary is FS!

I had just picked this stamp set up yesterday while shopping at Mike's and knew after I saw the Featured Stamper's gallery on SCS that I wanted to ink up this owl image. Mary, aka jandjccc, has a wonderful gallery and has a number of owl cards in it, so that's what inspired me. I don't own the owl punch she used, so I opted to paper piece the owl "vest" instead.  I colored with Copics, fussy cut, then added yellow Stickles to the star and 4mm googlie eyes to the owl and spider.  The layout is for Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #74.

Hope you are having a great Sunday...I have loved my 3 day weekend off work!  I tackled my overly stuffed pantry which happens to be in my stamping aka storage room.  Started on Friday and finished yesterday...WHEW...what a job!  I tossed a LOT of things (if I hadn't used it in the past 3 years...out the door it went!) and donated a huge box of items to Goodwill.  The result?  I gained an entire 6 foot shelf to store stampy things that were in containers on the floor.  Next on my "to do" list is to clean my L-shaped desk off!  :-(  Have to make room for a new toy I ordered from Amazon!  Stay tuned...

STAMPS: Hampton Art
PAPER: Mischievous DP by MME, Terracotta Tile by PTI
INK: Memento Tuxedo Ink
ACCESSORIES: Googlie eyes, Yellow Stickles, Dies by Lil Inker Designs
COPICS: E55, E57, YR14, YR15YR16, YR18 - pumpkins
                G40, G43, G46 - leaves
                N4, N6, N8 - hat
                Y21, Y26, N1 - owl.
