Sometimes I laugh when I think of my life 9 years ago. Craig and I had just started dating - he was a cool kid with tons of friends, no fears of skipping school, very little cares in the world and I was, well, pretty much the nerdiest of nerds as the yearbook editor and home economics scholar. How in the world did we ever hook up?? It must have been fate.
Craig has told me of an experience he had on the first day of his basic physics class when he was a senior in high school. Mr. He-who-must-not-be-named told the entire class that because they were in such an easy class NONE of them were college material. Who says that? Luckily, Craig didn't take that statement to heart and has been very, very successful in his undergraduate as well as his graduate studies. In fact, the reason I made this post was to brag about his most recent achievement! Craig wrote a memo almost a year ago with another student that was considered to have the BEST argument! He received his $1000 check at a banquet today.
I'm glad that some of my nerdiness rubbed off on him - at least I like to think it did. I'm so lucky to be married to such a hard-working man who didn't listen to his high school physics teacher...

Sorry it's been a while
Ever since we have moved to Nebraska I have been badgering Erin to make a Husker quilt for me. Well last night, as a Christmas gift, she surprised me with this...
Isn't she the greatest?
Yep, she sure is!
Recently, we also went to my new favorite pizza place, Dante Pizzeria Napoletana.
The pizza there had a fantastic thin crust, the best Kalamata olives and fresh basil. Also, all the ingredients (except the olives I'm sure) were produced locally so it made it that much better.
This is Erin driving our car home from the pizza place, which is in Omaha. Our new car is a manual so she was a little nervous driving home but she did terrific (although I often noticed she was going 55 mph in a 75 mph zone, but I guess that's understandable when you're an old 27).
We hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and New Year!

Dino Quilt
I have several sewing projects that have been waiting to be sewn. I finally finished one on my to-do list. My mom sent me an adorable kit to make a dinosaur quilt. I think it turned out to be pretty cute.
Still loving the white with bright color combo...

Other recent Happenings
Pre-Thanksgiving dinner. We went to the track with the Roses, so we wouldn't feel as guilty eating so much pie...
Craig was there too!
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner. I think I was the last one to notice the relish tray was in the shape of a turkey...
Craig and the spread.
This is just a random picture from the Nebraska/Penn State game. Craig and I were laughing that this lady was listening to the game on the radio as she was WATCHING it.

October in Review
We sure had a busy October, filled with lots of fun! We're happy November will be a little calmer, so Craig can start studying for finals. There are only 5 weeks left in the semester - I can't believe it! Photo overload:
Craig and I drove to Des Moines at the first of the month to go to Les Miserables. It was pretty awesome! I'm still pretending to sing like Fantine...
Craig and I then headed to Nauvoo, IL the following weekend. Craig remembers this diner when he went several years ago, but it was unfortunately closed when we went.
After the "carriage" ride with the team of horses, Bill and Bob. These guys were strong - there were probably 15+ people on the "carriage".
In front of the Mississippi River - can you tell it was windy??
It was beautiful when we went! Autumn is definitely my favorite season. I loved the vibrant red leaves.
Craig is ready to make a trip to the well...
In front of the schoolhouse. We were horrible at the phonetic reading activity. We couldn't get past current English /American rules.
Last stop was Carthage Jail - kind of an awkward picture, I know.
We went to another play. Craig got us season tickets to the traveling Broadway performances in Omaha. Shrek was the first of the series. We had tons of fun!
This past weekend, Craig's mom and brother Kyle came for a visit. The three of them went to the Huskers game. I was happy to stay warm at home...
We also headed down to Kansas and Craig and Kyle went to the Chiefs/Raiders game. Both were happy that the Raiders won!

Meet Baxter
We got a new car. Do you like it???
So, we really did get a new car, but not a minivan (that was funny, right??). Craig wouldn't touch a minivan with a 10-foot pole. My trusty Alero died about 3 1/2 weeks ago, so we got a little Ford Focus (named Baxter). It's a manual transmission, so Craig gets to drive it most of the time (maybe one day I'll be able to start on a hill...).
