Early June 2024

Early June brought all the end of the school year things. Like post-preschool drop-off visits to Wegmans with boys in jammies.

And Wegmans donuts, eaten frosting first.

Playground visits.
The pool opened!
Lots of play dough.
2nd hour of church survival thanks to friends and hymnbooks.
Eleanor attended the Olympic-themed summer camp at preschool. She loved it.
Meanwhile Wes performed some Olympic-level stunts at home.
Wes perfected reading The First 100 Words. It's long, but I want to remember this little voice forever and ever.
We picnicked at Bennetts.
Eleanor tried to help with bedtime.
So much of our life at home in this - the middles entertaining themselves, the jumping on furniture that I try to fight, the bossy big sister.
Wes is an accessory guy.
Surviving baseball practice.
And preschool drop-off with friends.
We went to Anson's end of year picnic. He showed us all he's learned.
And we had lunch with friends.
Ms. Lowe. Best teacher ever.
Weston built himself a desk with what he could find.
Tie-dye day at preschool.
Anson's money-making schemes continue.
We played with the Shumways.
And went to baseball games.
Post-game birthday party for Lucas.
Eleanor got to tag along.
Dustin took the chainsaw to that downed tree. No human limbs were lost, so we're calling it a win.
We spent Stake Conference in a classroom.
We had some backyard fun.
Playing with Callie.
The girls had their last ballet playdate.
Anson finally finished first grade. My, how he's grown. Ms. Lowe really did an incredible job of creating a classroom community. It was only her second year teaching, and she threw herself into getting to know the kids and caring about what they care about. At the beginning of the year, she asked for a room parent. I didn't respond for a week, and I finally wrote back and said I'm sure she'd found someone, but I was happy to help. She responded that she hadn't found anyone, and I ended up being her room parent. It was amazing getting to know her and see her working with those kiddos. She came to a baseball game, requested a class picnic so she could spend more time with kids and their families, and was just generally amazing. What a fantastic first grade year.
We celebrated the beginning of summer with Star Wars episode IV. It was first big-kid movie, and he was enamored.
The Frosts came over to play before the girls went to dress rehearsal for their recital.
First makeup experience, and the girls were sold.
Amanda took the girls to rehearsal while I kept the boys. She captured this, and I love it so much.
On Saturday, June 15, the girls had their first dance recital. We left the little boys at home with a sitter so we could fully enjoy. We had Eleanor all dolled up at home, and then she cried in the car on the way to the performance. Her makeup was a mess. Thankfully another mom saved me (I'll never make the mistake of leaving makeup at home again), and I questioned whether or not I'm actually cut out to be a dance mom. But in the end, Eleanor did great, and I've never been so proud.
Her tap routine:
I love that she gets to do this with Helen!
And the best teacher in all the land.
