Our First Ice Storm

Today Cody and I were here for our first ice storm!! I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Last night we went to the store to get a few items just in case we wouldn't be able to get out for a few days. Seriously the place was cleared out. Not a carton of milk in the entire milk section. I think there may have been 5 loaves of bread left on the bread shelf. It was nuts! Luckily we went at 10:30 at night so there wasn't a crowd. Today at work we were only open a half day and then we are closed tomorrow because of the weather conditions. I am so intrigued by the ice on my car. It started raining about 9 this morning and it would freeze right on your car as soon as it hit. So basically you car is just one sheet of ice. I have never seen anything like it before. You can literally glide your hand all over you car. When I went to leave at noon I started the car to let it warm up and I had the defrost on full blast. I rummaged in my car to find my ice scraper from last year, I found it and went to scrape the windshield. It did nothing! I used all of my force and I could barely get a dent in the surface. I had no choice but to wait for the defroster to work its magic. It took about 20 minutes. Luckily the roads were not bad on the way home just wet. I couldn't resist snapping a few shots of our beautiful iced vehicles. Cody and I have both been home since about noon. We have enjoyed a nice lazy day of relaxation, naps, and facebook. It is kind of cozy being stuck inside, and thank goodness we still have power. (Apparently ice storms tend to cause lots of power outages). I also think it is really funny that all over the tv they are following the weather and calling it a "state of emergency". Seriously? It is not that bad, sure I wouldn't want to drive anywhere but it should pass through and be done with tomorrow night. Definitely not the definition of "state of emergency".

Winter is Here

Well I think it is official that winter is here. We didn't have a snow shovel yet (I reminded Cody that we needed one weeks ago). Because everyone knows that when it snows you can't find a snow shovel, or window scraper for a long time. So instead of a normal shovel we ended up with some kid shovel (it must have been one of the last ones left). During last weeks storms Cody was nice enough to shovel the driveway but that was it. So Tuesday night I decided to go out and shovel the sidewalks since we were about the only ones left on our street that had not shoveled it yet. I was really impressed by the huge icicle on our house so I tore it down and wallah, here is my picture with it.
Cody and I had a nice Christmas, we have both decided that when you are married with no kids Christmas is not exciting, it is just another day of the week. We spent the day there with Cody's family. It was fun to see his 2 nephews open their presents on Christmas morning, and then fight over them.
Cody and I are both impatient people who never wait til Christmas to open presents. So this year we split some money and both got to buy whatever we wanted. It was great! I got a zip up hoodie, a massage, speakers for my Ipod, running shoes. Cody got an Ipod touch, a zip up hoodie, running shoes, and NCAA 09 for Xbox.
I am now excited for the new year to come! We have a lot to look forward to this year. And we are already planning out our move to Oklahoma which will be on June 20th!

More Snow, The Utah Jazz, Happy Birthday, and Goodbye Sara Circle

The extreme amounts of snow that have recently fallen are unbelievable. I can not remember a winter with this much snow in a long time. Sunday night as Cody and I were driving home from my parents house the roads were really icy after getting off the freeway. I am a super paranoid driver in the snow. This means that if there is any (even the slightest amount) accumulated moisture on the roads which include (but are not limited to): snow, ice, or slush; then I drive very cautiously. I start slowing down for a stop sign or a light about 200 feet in front of it, and I only drive about 20 miles per hour. Sometimes I can be a little obnoxious with the driving. However this night Cody was driving and while he is cautious he is not over the top like me. So as we were approaching a red light at about 35 miles per hour, he hit the breaks and ....we didn't stop any. Luckily there were no cars coming through the intersection and the light turned green as we went under, but it was still enough to scare me!

Did anyone else see the Jazz game last night against Denver? It was a nail biter all the way to the end, and into overtime. But we won thanks to the amazing Deron Williams who hit a three in regulation to get us to over time, and Kyle Korver for being so darn clutch with free throws.

This weekend we will be celebrating Cody's 24 birthday! If anyone has any good ideas as to what I should get him feel free to post them. Last year I didn't get him a present(or a card either)...I couldn't justify spending money on anything because I didn't find anything that really excited him (He wanted a big screen tv last year, but that was a little out of our league) I did however spend the rest of the year paying for this mistake. Every few months he would find something he wanted and say, "since you didn't get me a birthday present we will count this as it." I think I ended up getting him about 5 presents for last year. I better play it safe this year and just get the guy something!

And last but not least for the past months Cody and I have been toying with idea of looking for new apartment, really we were just waiting for the right deal to come along. Well this past week we found it! We signed the lease Tuesday night (this is cool because the lease is only month-to-month, which means we aren't stuck in any kind of a contract!) This means that we will be moving out on March 1st.

The new place is just a few miles from where we currently live, and it is a single story duplex. My favorite feature about it is that there is actually tile in the kitchen!! A few of my 4-plex neighbors can probably understand my feelings there since we have carpet in the kitchen.....when you spill anything it is nearly impossible to clean up. We will also have a driveway, and a backyard! I am not really quite sure why I am so excited about the backyard but I am for some reason.
