Aubrey's Last YMCA Gymnastics Nationals - 2025

 In the biggest (in my opinion) of Aubrey's lasts, was the 2025 YMCA Gymnastics Nationals in Green Bay Wisconsin.   She has been doing gymnastics since she was 4 years old at MGC in Waltham MA; she joined the pre-team at the Madison Y when she was 6.  All time spent at practices and competitions came to an end here.  And it was a great way to end it.

I was still in Chicago for work this day so unfortunately I missed the fun.

Aubrey qualified as 5th.

Kay and Sadie went to see some sites with Mindy while Sadie, Aubrey and I were at other meets cheering on other teams.

And the most tearful part of the day was Aubrey competing floor for the last time, which also happened to be her last rotation.

3rd Place AA for Level 8s.  We are so proud of her.

Sadie has been having an amazing year in the Gold Xcel Level.  1st place Regional Xcel and 1st place YMCA states.

She had a great competition, and but for a fall on beam, her first fall all competition season, she would have been 1st place AA YMCA nationals.   She missed 1st place by 0.05 points.  

Before we traveled home we did a tour of Lambeau field, since the rest of us missed it the evening of Aubrey's banquet.

And Kay got her cheese hat.

It was an amazing gymnastics season.  Aubrey and Sadie did great, and most importantly, no injuries!

We are sad that we won't see Aubrey compete ever again.  We can't believe this time has come.  We are excited to see Sadie compete in the Platinum level this upcoming year.

Getting home was quite an adventure - let's just say we got home a lot later than expected thanks to a certain president mobilizing the air force squadron located near Green Bay which prevented commercial planes from taking off for a long time.  Fortunately the Appleton airport had a ping pong table and corn hole.

Piano Recital

 Not too many years ago, all four girls performed in the piano recital.  This year, just Claire.   But it was fun to have her grand parents there to watch her perform in person.

We are very grateful that Greg was willing to fly out from Idaho and have the recital in NJ.

Claire - May 30th through Last Day of School

 Finally, Claire.

This year Claire played for the Morris Elite 2011 Sky Blue team (the "B" team, but a level up).  She really liked the team.

She also played softball on the Madison recreation team Madison Pharmacy.  A great team, that came in second.

Morris Elite has a semi-pro team.  Claire got to be the ball girl for their first game.

While this post has the least photos, her schedule was the busiest with two sports going on at the same time.

Sadie - May 30th through Last Day of School

Now Sadie's turn

Sadie loves fruit more than any of our other daughters.  And sometimes it is more efficient to eat watermelon by grabbing a spoon and scooping.

Sadie was our first daughter to get a gold medal in the national language exam.  She got it for Italian level 1.

Sadie sang beautifully at her voice recital.  Her teacher gave her a very hard (and very high) number, but she handled it well.

Sadie also competed at YMCA states and did well.  The theme was Wicked.

As usual, she did well, and tied for AA champion.
